  • IndiGo Sues Mahindra Over ‘BE 6e’ Name: What You Need to Know

IndiGo Sues Mahindra Over ‘BE 6e’ Name: What You Need to Know

IndiGo, India’s biggest airline, has decided to take legal action against Mahindra Electric for naming its new car “BE 6e”. The airline claims that “6E” is their unique identifier, which they use for many services. These include things like 6E Prime, which gives customers perks such as choosing their seats, priority check-in, and free snacks, and 6E Flex, which allows passengers to change their flights anytime without extra charges.

IndiGo filed the lawsuit on December 4, 2024, and the case will be reviewed on December 9. Interestingly, Justice Amit Bansal has stepped aside from the hearing.

Mahindra has expressed a desire to discuss this matter with IndiGo. According to Sandeep Sethi, the lawyer for IndiGo, the airline registered the name “6E Link” in 2015 to protect their brand.

On the other hand, Mahindra registered “BE 6e” on November 25, 2024, allowing them to use “6e” for many types of vehicles, not just cars.

The Mahindra BE 6e is a sporty compact SUV set to hit the market in February 2025, priced at around ₹18.90 lakh. It will compete with other electric vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.

  • Rahul Gandhi Stopped by Police During Sambhal Visit Amid Violence

Rahul Gandhi Stopped by Police During Sambhal Visit Amid Violence

On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, shared that the Uttar Pradesh police stopped his convoy at the Ghazipur border. He wanted to visit Sambhal, a place affected by recent violence, but the police wouldn’t let him go. Rahul claimed that he was being denied his right to meet the people impacted by the violence.

Rahul mentioned he was even willing to travel to Sambhal alone with just the police. However, the authorities told him to come back in a few days. “I have the right as the Leader of the Opposition to go there, but they are stopping me,” he said at the Ghazipur border. “This is not just unfair; it goes against the Constitution. We just want to see how people are doing and understand what happened.”

Priyanka Gandhi, a Congress MP, also spoke out, saying that Rahul has the right to meet the victims of the violence. She explained that what happened in Sambhal was wrong, and the police shouldn’t prevent him from visiting.

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, Brajesh Pathak, accused the Congress leaders of trying to make political gains from the situation. He urged politicians to avoid worsening the law and order in the state. “Your visit is disturbing the peace,” he said. He also mentioned that some cartridges were found, hinting at larger issues related to the violence.

The Sambhal violence resulted in four deaths and many injuries after protesters clashed with officials surveying a mosque site. The survey was ordered because of a local court decision regarding a claim that a temple was demolished to build the mosque.

William Feels He Lost Harry: Inside Endgame Reveals Family Tensions

Prince William feels like he has “lost” his younger brother, Prince Harry. William believes that Harry has been “brainwashed” by what he calls an “army of therapists.” This family drama is explored in a new book by Omid Scobie titled Endgame. The book looks into how Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, adjusted to life in California after leaving their royal duties.

In the book, a source close to William says, “He feels like he doesn’t know this new version of Harry.” William is also said to be upset with Harry for making public complaints about the royal family and acting like he’s important in a “California-style” way.

The book also discusses the rivalry between Meghan and Kate Middleton. Scobie notes that Kate sometimes “shudders and giggles” when someone mentions Meghan, showing there might be more going on. He says Kate talks about Meghan more than she actually interacts with her.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward shared her thoughts on the book, saying it could hurt any chances of the brothers repairing their relationship. She explained that the book has harsh comments about the royal family, especially William and Kate.

While some might think Harry and Meghan had a hand in the book, Scobie insisted that they were not involved at all. He explained that their story is just a small piece of a much larger story.

  • Sukhbir Singh Badal Escapes Assassination Attempt at Golden Temple

Sukhbir Singh Badal Escapes Assassination Attempt at Golden Temple

Sukhbir Singh Badal, a former deputy chief minister of Punjab, was attacked while doing community service at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Badal, who is 62, was there to apologize for mistakes he made while leading the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) party from 2007 to 2017.

The attacker, named Narain Singh Chaura, is 68 years old and has a dangerous past. He was involved in the 2004 Burail jailbreak and is wanted for many other serious crimes. During the attack, Chaura aimed a gun at Badal but missed because a volunteer quickly pushed him away. The bullet hit a wall instead.

This scary moment was caught on camera. The footage shows Chaura walking towards Badal with a gun in his pocket. Thanks to the brave volunteer who stopped him, Badal was unharmed.

Chaura has a long history of crime. He helped dangerous prisoners escape from jail and once had a bounty of ₹10 lakh on his head. He was also accused of sending weapons into Punjab during the early years of terrorism in the area.

Recently, Badal and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, a former union minister, arrived at the Golden Temple in wheelchairs, wearing signs that acknowledged their past mistakes. They were told they were guilty of serious errors, such as not punishing those responsible for serious incidents in 2015. Five top Sikh priests had declared them guilty of wrongdoing.

Opposition leader Partap Singh Bajwa condemned the assassination attempt, calling it deeply unfortunate. He said such violence is harmful to our society and called for all political leaders and citizens to work together for peace in Punjab.

  • Hero Electric Appeals Court Ruling on FAME-II Subsidy Investigation

Hero Electric Appeals Court Ruling on FAME-II Subsidy Investigation

Hero Electric has taken action in the Delhi High Court against a decision made by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The ministry has asked for a Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) to look into claims that Hero Electric wrongly received money from the government’s FAME-II program, which provides support for electric vehicles. The Ministry of Heavy Industries also asked Hero Electric to pay back Rs 130 crore because they believe the company did not follow the rules of the program.

During the court hearing on Wednesday, Justice CD Singh advised Hero Electric to talk with the ministry to work out the problem peacefully. While this is happening, the court told the government not to take any action against Hero Electric until they check on the progress of these talks. The next hearing has been set for December 20, 2024, allowing time for both sides to find a solution. The FAME-II scheme, which stands for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, is a program by the government to encourage the use of electric vehicles by giving financial help.

  • Taliban to Ban Women from Nursing Programs, Deepening Healthcare Crisis

Taliban to Ban Women from Nursing Programs, Deepening Healthcare Crisis

Afghanistan is likely to stop women from joining nursing and midwifery courses, according to reports from different schools. This move comes after an order from the Taliban’s leader. A health ministry official said this ban will make the country’s healthcare problems even worse. “We already have a lack of doctors and nurses. This will only make it harder,” they said.

So far, there has been no official announcement, but two health ministry officials shared this news with BBC Afghan. Videos showed students crying after hearing this. Health officials recently met in Kabul to discuss this news with school leaders.

“In the meeting, they told us that girls can’t study in our schools anymore,” explained a public health ministry official. They weren’t given much information and were simply told to follow the leader’s order. One school director said many leaders were present at this meeting. Some staff members are confused about this new rule.

Since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, they have already prevented girls from going to secondary schools and universities. This has led to worldwide criticism, with many calling it “gender apartheid.” Health training schools were among the few places left for women to learn, and now women make up most of the students in these programs.

There are about 10 public and over 150 private health schools in Afghanistan, offering diplomas in subjects like midwifery and pharmacy. Around 35,000 women are currently studying there.

“This new rule is a huge problem. What will we do with only 10 percent of our students?” asked one school manager.

One midwifery teacher in Kabul received a message from her school telling her not to come to work for now, but they didn’t explain why. “This is really shocking for us. We feel lost,” she said. “This was our only hope after being banned from universities.”

A UK official expressed worry about this decision, calling it “another attack on women’s rights to education” and saying it will make healthcare harder for Afghan women and children.

This ban is the latest in a series of strict rules from the Taliban since they returned to power. In August, they ordered women to wear full-body clothes in public. In October, they said women should not pray aloud in front of others, claiming a woman’s voice should be kept quiet.

The Taliban’s treatment of women is concerning. According to Amnesty International, they have:
    – Stopped girls from going to secondary school
    – Limited women’s job and education opportunities
    – Imposed strict dress codes
    – Arrested women and girls for “moral corruption”
    – Increased early and forced marriages.
