Supreme Court Reviews Judge Yadav’s Controversial Speech at VHP Event

The Supreme Court recently discussed a speech given by Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, a judge from the Allahabad High Court, at a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) event. The court is gathering more information about the situation. A video of Justice Yadav’s speech, where he suggested that laws should follow the majority, has gone viral online, causing many politicians to react strongly. In the video, he claimed, “This is Hindustan, and this country would function as per the wishes of the ‘bahusankhyak’,” which translates to the majority population.

Justice Yadav also supported the idea of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) during his talk, explaining that it aims to create social harmony, gender equality, and secularism by having the same laws for everyone, regardless of their religion in personal matters like marriage and inheritance.

Politicians from opposition parties, like Trinamool Congress’s Mahua Moitra and Asaduddin Owaisi, criticized the judge’s statements. The Samajwadi Party and the Uttar Pradesh wing of Congress urged Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna to look into the issue.

Prashant Bhushan, a lawyer and leader of a non-government group called Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJAR), wrote a letter to the Chief Justice requesting an inquiry into Justice Yadav’s conduct. Bhushan argued that Yadav’s speech, which was seen as targeting the Muslim community, demonstrates judicial misconduct and injures the reputation of the judiciary.

Bhushan pointed out that Justice Yadav made several controversial remarks, including one where he described how children from one religious community are taught values of kindness and tolerance, calling into question the fairness of his comments.

The letter noted that the judge’s actions violate the “Restatement of Values of Judicial Life,” a guideline meant to uphold the integrity of judges. CJAR demanded that Justice Yadav stop all judicial work temporarily while an investigation is conducted, stating that a prompt institutional response is essential to regain public trust in the justice system.

VHP chief Alok Kumar defended Justice Yadav against the criticism, saying that these events will continue to be organized.

Australia’s Stunning Comeback: Travis Head Stars in Adelaide Test!

Former cricketer Tim Paine has praised Australian batsman Travis Head for his amazing performance against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Adelaide. After losing the first Test badly in Perth, Australia bounced back with a fantastic 10-wicket victory, making the series tied at 1-1.

Travis Head scored an impressive 140 runs off just 141 balls! He hit 17 fours and 4 sixes, showing off his incredible talent. Tim Paine, speaking on SEN Breakfast, said that Head doesn’t worry about what critics think about him. “He plays his own way and has strong belief in his skills,” Paine said. “It’s thrilling to see him at his best.”

In the Adelaide Test, India won the toss and chose to bat first but struggled against Australia’s fast bowlers, especially Mitchell Starc. India scored only 180 runs, with KL Rahul and Shubman Gill putting up some resistance. Starc and Pat Cummins took the lead in the bowling attack, bringing India’s innings to a quick end.

In Australia’s first innings, Head’s stunning knock helped secure a total of 337 runs, giving them a big 157-run lead. Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj tried their best but couldn’t contain Head’s aggression.

In their second innings, India failed to build on a small lead and were quickly bowled out for 175 runs. Skipper Cummins took a brilliant five-wicket haul, and Scott Boland added pressure with three wickets of his own. Chasing a tiny target of just 19 runs, Australian openers Khawaja and McSweeney finished the job in just 3.2 overs.

This game showcased Australia’s dominance and proved they are still a force to be reckoned with in the series!

Indian Diplomat Sparks Hope at Hindu Heritage Month Event in Canada

Toronto: After a tense time between India and Canada, an important Indian diplomat was seen with Canadian leaders at an event in late November. India’s consul general, Masakui Rungsung, attended a celebration for Hindu Heritage Month in Surrey, British Columbia (BC), on November 29. There were also big names like BC Premier David Eby, Deputy Premier Niki Sharma, and other local and federal leaders.

Among the federal MPs were Sukh Dhaliwal and Randeep Sarai from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party. Recently, Dhaliwal tried to pass a motion in the House of Commons to recognize the violent attacks on Sikhs in 1984 as “genocide,” but it didn’t pass.

The event was organized by Kamal Sharma, an entertainment figure, who mentioned, “I love to bring everyone together. I’m happy it worked out.” He has been organizing these celebrations since 2022, when Canada’s Parliament officially recognized Hindu Heritage Month. This year, due to recent tensions, he wanted not just the community to join but leaders as well.

Sharma highlighted that the special thing about this event was that people from all religions were represented, not just Hindus. This gathering was significant because there has been little contact between Indian officials and Canadian leaders since a diplomatic spat began in October.

At that time, Canada told India that six of its diplomats were “persons of interest” in a serious investigation. India responded by withdrawing its officials and sending back some Canadian diplomats. This tension grew worse after Prime Minister Trudeau mentioned in September that there were serious allegations involving Indian agents linked to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a pro-Khalistan activist in Surrey, three months prior

  • New Bill on Boat and Port Safety Enters Lok Sabha, Faces Opposition

New Bill on Boat and Port Safety Enters Lok Sabha, Faces Opposition

New Delhi: A new bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. This bill aims to create a group that will manage and check the safety of boats and ports. Some opposition members, however, questioned if the government has the right to make this law.

During the introduction of the Merchant Shipping Bill by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the opposing voices grew quieter for a moment. Manish Tewari from Congress argued that the government does not have the authority to make rules about merchant shipping, as it is not part of the main areas where the central government can make laws. Saugata Roy from the TMC also spoke against the bill, saying it will give more power to officials rather than helping to improve merchant shipping in India.

After the opposition spoke, the discussion became heated again, with members shouting slogans. Sonowal defended the bill, stating that it is created according to the Constitution and has passed through checks by two departments in the Ministry of Law.

  • Netanyahu Faces Court: Corruption Charges and Political Crisis”

Netanyahu Faces Court: Corruption Charges and Political Crisis”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is getting ready to testify in court about corruption charges. This is a big deal because it’s the first time an Israeli prime minister has had to do this. Netanyahu has been accused of accepting expensive gifts like cigars and champagne from a rich Hollywood producer and giving special treatment to media owners who helped him get good press.

Netanyahu, who is 75 years old, strongly denies these charges. He claims that they are unfair and part of a plot to remove him from power. He complained, “I’ve waited eight years to share my truth and fight these ridiculous accusations.”

As he gets ready for court, many people are protesting outside. Some are angry at Netanyahu, including families of hostages from Gaza, while others support him. Signs at the protests call him a “Crime Minister.”

Even though Netanyahu is facing serious charges, Israeli law allows him to stay in power. However, these troubles have caused a divide in the country, with many people calling for his resignation. Netanyahu’s supporters believe he is being unfairly treated.

His court sessions will last a long time—six hours a day, three days a week for several weeks. Critics are worried that he won’t be able to manage important government duties while dealing with this trial, especially since Israel is dealing with a war and threats from other countries.

  • NASA Uncovers 7 New Dark Comets: What They Mean for Earth

NASA Uncovers 7 New Dark Comets: What They Mean for Earth

NASA researchers have discovered seven new “dark comets,” bringing the total to 14. Dark comets are tricky because they look like asteroids but behave like comets. The first dark comet was spotted less than two years ago!

According to NASA, these dark comets fall into two main groups:
    1. Outer dark comets: These are bigger and hang out in the outer solar system with odd, stretched-out orbits, similar to Jupiter’s family of comets.
    2. Inner dark comets: These are smaller, orbiting closely to the Sun in nearly circular paths.

The excitement around dark comets began back in March 2016 when scientists noticed a mysterious space rock called 2003 RM. It moved slightly off its predicted path, which usually means a comet is outgassing, or shooting out gas. However, scientists couldn’t see a comet tail, leaving them puzzled.

In 2017, a first-ever object from outside our solar system called ‘Oumuamua was discovered. Like 2003 RM, it behaved strangely, further raising interest in these kinds of objects. Fast forward to 2023, and researchers found enough dark comets to create their own category!

Darryl Seligman, a key scientist from Michigan State University, says studying dark comets can help us understand how materials necessary for life reached Earth. The more we learn about these cosmic objects, the clearer the story of our planet’s origins becomes!
