  • Keanu Reeves: The Actor with a $156 Million Paycheck!

Keanu Reeves: The Actor with a $156 Million Paycheck!

A long time ago, Hollywood stars like Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor started getting paid a million dollars for a movie. Fast forward to today, and one actor made history by earning an unbelievable $156 million for just one film series!

This actor is none other than Keanu Reeves. He became super popular after the success of The Matrix movies in the late 1990s. Once The Matrix became a hit, Warner Bros quickly signed him to act in two more movies: Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. For these films, Keanu was paid $30 million upfront and got a share of the profits.

When both of these movies came out in 2003, they made a whopping $1.2 billion at the box office! Because of this, Keanu earned an amazing total of $156 million from these two movies, setting a record that nobody has broken for over 20 years!

Before Keanu, the highest amount an actor made for one film was $94 million by Alec Guinness for Star Wars. Since then, no actor has come close to Keanu’s record. For example, Tom Cruise’s biggest paycheck was $100 million, and Shah Rukh Khan earned $40 million for Jawan.

Though Keanu’s record is incredible, it’s worth noting that his earnings came from two films, while Tom Cruise, Will Smith, and Bruce Willis each made $100 million for a single movie.

Interestingly, after his big payday for The Matrix sequels, Keanu did not earn that much again. For his popular John Wick series, he made only $15 to $30 million per film.

  • Shastri Questions India’s Bowling Consistency in Test vs. Australia

Shastri Questions India’s Bowling Consistency in Test vs. Australia

Ravi Shastri, former coach of India’s cricket team, is worried about the Indian bowlers’ performance in the ongoing third Test match against Australia at the Gabba. After Day 2, Australia had a strong score of 405/7, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s excellent bowling, where he took 5 wickets. Bumrah shone brightly, capturing 5 wickets for 72 runs in 25 overs. Sadly, other Indian bowlers struggled, allowing Australian players like Travis Head and Steve Smith to score centuries.

Shastri highlighted the need for Indian bowlers to be more consistent and disciplined. In an interview, he commented on how some bowlers were leaking runs in different areas. He said, “Bumrah has done most things right, but can the others keep up with him?”

He emphasized that Indian bowlers must focus on where they pitch the ball. If a batter is scoring well on one side, bowlers should stick to a consistent line to make it harder for them to score freely. Shastri noted that when bowlers allow easy runs, it puts extra pressure on the captain.

Currently, Bumrah is leading in the series with 17 wickets, much more than Mohammed Siraj, who has 10. As the third Test continues, the Indian team will need strong batting to turn things around. Shastri’s thoughts about discipline and consistency in bowling could be the key for India to bounce back in this high-stakes series

  • India Debuts Subsidized Cargo Shipping to Enhance Waterway Efficiency

India Debuts Subsidized Cargo Shipping to Enhance Waterway Efficiency

India has started its very first special cargo service to move goods on its rivers. This service will use boats to carry cargo between Kolkata, Patna, and Varanasi on National Waterway 1 (NW 1) and from Kolkata to Pandu in Guwahati on National Waterway 2 (NW 2).

At a ceremony to celebrate this launch, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this plan aims to make transporting goods easier and reduce traffic on roads and trains. The new Jalvahak scheme will give incentives to businesses for transporting large amounts of goods over long distances through these waterways.

The first boat, named MV Trishul, is carrying 1,500 tonnes of cement from Kolkata to Pandu. Another boat, MV Aai, is transporting 1,000 tonnes of gypsum to Patna, and the third boat, MV Homi Bhaba, has 200 tonnes of coal heading to Varanasi.

This new cargo service not only promises to deliver goods more quickly and on time but also encourages businesses to trust in the ability of India’s waterways to handle transport efficiently. The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Inland & Coastal Shipping Limited (ICSL) are working together on this great initiative!

  • Vinesh Phogat Calls for Action on Farmers’ Protest Amid Urgent Situation

Vinesh Phogat Calls for Action on Farmers’ Protest Amid Urgent Situation

On Sunday, Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat said that India is in a serious situation similar to an emergency. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do something to help the farmers who are protesting, instead of just giving speeches. Phogat met farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike at the Khanauri Border for a long time. Phogat showed his support for the farmers and said everyone in Punjab, Haryana, and across the country should join this protest.

“He (Dallewal) is risking his life for others. We need action now, not just talks,” Phogat told ANI.

On Sunday, Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, and an official from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mayank Mishra, met with Dallewal. They were trying to convince him to accept medical help because the Supreme Court asked them to check on him and help him since he started his fast on November 26. The meeting didn’t go well because Dallewal refused the medical aid and instead told the government to listen to farmers’ demands.

Yadav said he told Dallewal that Punjab’s chief minister, Bhagwant Mann, is worried about him and even sent a message asking for medical help for Dallewal.

Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni said that the farmers’ demands haven’t changed and urged the government to talk to them. “Farmers are protesting quietly, but nobody is listening. The government should call us for discussions and help find a solution,” he said

  • Chemistry Made Fun: Teacher Uses His Body to Explain Chirality!

Chemistry Made Fun: Teacher Uses His Body to Explain Chirality!

In India, teachers who work in education technology (or ed-tech) come up with fun ways to help their students learn tough subjects. They often use popular Bollywood songs and catchy Hindi phrases to make learning easier and more enjoyable. This unique style sometimes goes viral on social media, making people laugh and applaud the creativity.

In one recent video, a teacher from a famous ed-tech platform called Physics Wallah is shown trying to explain a tricky chemistry topic called chirality. Chirality is when a molecule or object cannot be placed over its mirror image, no matter how you twist or turn it.

While explaining how a certain chemical compound looks, the teacher had a hard time showing how it rotates. To fix this, he decided to become the molecule himself! In the video, he gets down on his hands and knees and shows how to move like the molecule would. He even tells his students, “Imagine my head is the COOH group,” as he stretches out his arms and legs. He cleverly connects chemistry with yoga by saying, “Now when I turn, my right will become left and left will become right.”

The video was shared online by a user who called it “absolute cinema.” People had mixed reactions. Some thought the teacher was very passionate, while others suggested he could have used models or 3D images instead of demonstrating with his body. A lot of comments mentioned he was teaching in a very unique way, which was called “bhayankar padhai,” meaning intense learning.

  • Pradhan and Modi Criticize Congress for Disrespecting the Constitution

Pradhan and Modi Criticize Congress for Disrespecting the Constitution

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan strongly criticized the Congress party, saying they have no shame or sense of responsibility. Speaking on Sunday, he pointed out that Indian citizens have repeatedly revealed Congress’s wrongdoings.

Pradhan mentioned that Prime Minister Modi shared important historical facts in a recent speech. He accused Congress of ignoring the truth and said they need to learn how to listen. The people of India have shown Congress the truth many times, Pradhan added.

Earlier, PM Modi also took a firm stand against Congress. He accused the party of disrespecting the Constitution, which is crucial for India. Modi presented eleven promises for a bright future for the country. He said everyone should remember their duties and that politics should not be based on family ties.

Referring to the Congress party, Modi highlighted their long history of disregarding the Constitution. He pointed out that from 1947 to 1952, India did not have a real elected government, and there were no important elections during that time. Modi emphasized that following our fundamental duties is key to making India a developed country.

He criticized Congress for past events like the emergency, claiming it took away the rights of citizens and limited freedom of the press.

The Lok Sabha discussed the Constitution’s 75 years over two days starting on Friday.

  • TMC Urges Smooth Parliament Session for Constitution Debate

TMC Urges Smooth Parliament Session for Constitution Debate

Derek O’Brien, the leader of the Trinamool Congress in the Rajya Sabha, said on Sunday that his party wants Parliament to work smoothly. He urged the ruling BJP not to disrupt discussions, especially about the Constitution, which they plan to discuss soon.

Last week, there were several interruptions in Parliament, and O’Brien blamed the BJP for making it hard for everyone to talk about important issues affecting the public.

The Rajya Sabha is going to discuss how the Constitution has worked over the last 75 years. This is happening while opposition parties are planning to challenge Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar with a no-confidence motion. The opposition really wants to focus on the Constitution this Winter Session.

During last week’s sessions, Parliament faced multiple disruptions due to various topics like the Adani issue and comments from George Soros, making it hard for the House to operate. O’Brien stated that they want to make sure Parliament runs smoothly so they can address people’s problems. If the BJP doesn’t cause more disruptions, he says they will discuss the Constitution and highlight the BJP’s failures.

About 10 to 11 members from O’Brien’s party will join this discussion and each will speak for 3-4 minutes. They plan to focus on important ideas from the Constitution’s introduction, like equality, justice, and democracy. The TMC has 12 members in the Rajya Sabha, but one member, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, is not participating due to some disagreements with the party.

Tensions rose last Friday when the opposition tried to push for impeaching Dhankhar, leading to a chaotic scene where members clashed. Dhankhar, who identifies as a farmer’s son, asserted he wouldn’t back down.

The debates in the Rajya Sabha will occur on December 16 and 17, with Prime Minister Modi expected to respond on Tuesday. Earlier, the Lok Sabha had its discussions on December 13 and 14, with many opposition members criticizing the BJP for hurting the Constitution. In his defense, Modi accused the Congress party of damaging the Constitution out of a desire for power, claiming his government has worked since 2014 to strengthen and unify India according to the Constitution’s vision.

  • NGT Challenges Tree Cutting Project in Delhi: Major Legal Developments Ahead

NGT Challenges Tree Cutting Project in Delhi: Major Legal Developments Ahead

New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked the government for answers regarding the cutting down of many trees in Delhi. This issue came up during a hearing about a private builder who allegedly removed thousands of trees in Chajju Ram Bagh, Jindpur, to build a warehouse and a commercial storage space.

On December 9, the NGT Chairperson, Justice Prakash Shrivastava, noted that the north Delhi district magistrate had not submitted his response. The tribunal had earlier asked for important land records and details about the area from the past 20 years to understand the situation better.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) submitted a report stating that forest officials had fined the builder Rs 9 lakh for illegally cutting down 15 trees. However, the tribunal questioned how this fine was decided and what rules were used.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) also responded, including a document from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change dated July 14, 2020. This document approved the construction project that included cutting down trees. The tribunal emphasized that the number of trees in the area needed to be counted according to the project’s conditions.

As a result, the tribunal decided to involve the Ministry of Environment as an additional party in the case. The NGT is expecting them to explain the tree counting process and any actions taken for the illegal cutting of trees. The next hearing is scheduled for April 1.

Prime Minister Modi Remembers Sardar Patel on His Death Anniversary

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. On the social media platform X, he praised Patel, calling him an inspiration for India’s unity and strength. Modi wrote, “Many salutes to the Iron Man of India. His personality and work will inspire us as we strive for a united and developed India.”

Home Minister Amit Shah also shared a tribute on X, celebrating Patel as a symbol of unity. He said, “I remember Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. He laid the groundwork for modern India by bringing together over 550 princely states into one nation. His commitment to national unity will always guide those who prioritize the country’s interests.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined in by saying, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contributions will never be forgotten. My heartfelt respects to him on this special day. India will always remember his vision and work.”

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, was born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad, Gujarat.
