  • Vikram Misri’s Talks in Bangladesh: Addressing Strained Ties

Vikram Misri’s Talks in Bangladesh: Addressing Strained Ties

On Monday, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with Bangladesh’s Foreign Adviser, Touhid Hussain. Misri flew in from India on an Air Force jet for a one-day visit to discuss the relationship between both countries. This was the first time an Indian official visited Bangladesh for important talks since Sheikh Hasina had to leave as Prime Minister on August 5.

After their meeting, Misri told reporters that he appreciated the chance to have a frank and open conversation. He mentioned that they discussed some worrying issues, including the safety of minorities in Bangladesh and recent attacks on cultural and religious sites.

The friendship between India and Bangladesh has been shaky since Hasina was ousted due to protests. After she left, Nobel Peace Prize winner Mohammad Yunus became the new leader. Recently, there have been increasing incidents of violence against Hindus, including the arrest of a Hindu monk named Chinmoy Krishna Das, which has raised alarms in India.

In September, Bangladesh’s foreign adviser had a brief meeting with India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in New York. While Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Yunus attended the same UN summit in September, they did not get a chance to meet.

Before leaving, Misri is also expected to pay a courtesy visit to Yunus.

  • Shami’s Stellar Show Leads Bengal to Victory in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy!

Shami’s Stellar Show Leads Bengal to Victory in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy!

Bengaluru – Mohammed Shami played a fantastic game for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, helping his team reach the quarterfinals! Shami scored 32 runs in just 17 balls and bowled really well, allowing Bengal to win against Chandigarh by just three runs. This match took place on Monday.

Shami, who is 34 years old, has been playing a lot lately, with eight T20 games in just 16 days. After a shaky start, his batting helped Bengal climb from 114 for 8 to a final score of 159 for 9. He hit two sixes and three fours, making crucial runs with Sayan Ghosh at the end.

Ghosh then bowled strongly in the final over, playing a big part in stopping Chandigarh from chasing down the score, which ended at 156 for 9.

Shami looked fit and sharp while bowling. He took a wicket early by catching Arsalan Z Khan and bowled three overs, giving away only 11 runs—except for one big hit by Manan Vohra. His speed was good, throwing some balls at 139 km/h.

Overall, Shami has played nine domestic games—one in the Ranji Trophy and eight in T20 matches—taking 16 wickets over 64 overs.

Many are asking if Shami is ready for Test matches. Although he is doing well in T20s, playing in Test matches is much harder since he would need to bowl longer spells and field for more hours. There are talks among selectors about bringing him back when he feels fully fit. However, Shami has told the doctors that he feels a little swelling in his knee after games, which is something to keep an eye on before he returns to test cricket.

Tejashwi Yadav Promises ₹1,500 for Seniors If RJD Wins Bihar Elections!”

Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has made a big promise to the people of Bihar. He said that if his party wins the elections next year, the money given to senior citizens, widows, and disabled people will increase from ₹400 to ₹1,500 every month!

He mentioned that people over 60 years, those with disabilities, and widows will benefit from this change through social security programs. Tejashwi, who used to be the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, was quoted saying, “We promise to deliver when we get the chance,” and he criticized the current ₹400 monthly payment as “too little.”

This news comes a week after he promised people “200 units of free electricity,” claiming that many are suffering because of high electricity bills. Tejashwi also talked about creating “10 lakh jobs” and mentioned that there have been many new government jobs in Bihar, which made leaders of the ruling party unhappy.

In nearby Jharkhand, where RJD is part of the ruling coalition, people voted for the party due to the success of their social security plans. The elections in Bihar are expected to be held around October or November next year.

  • Sujeet Kumar Files Nomination as BJP Candidate for Rajya Sabha in Odisha”

Sujeet Kumar Files Nomination as BJP Candidate for Rajya Sabha in Odisha”

Sujeet Kumar, a former Member of Parliament from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), has officially filed his papers to run for the Rajya Sabha again, but this time as a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha. His name was announced by the BJP’s Central Election Committee, and he was joined by important leaders like Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP state president Manmohan Samal when he submitted his nomination.

Kumar submitted two sets of nomination papers with the support of 30 MLAs, which means many members of the state assembly are backing him. Chief Minister Majhi is listed as a supporter for one set, and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo for the other.

He told reporters that he has done a lot of good work during his previous term in the Rajya Sabha. He said he plans to focus on improving Kalahandi district and the KBK (Kalahandi-Bolangir-Koraput) region by enhancing infrastructure, road connections, tourism, and more.

Officials stated that Kumar is currently the only person to submit nomination papers for this Rajya Sabha by-election, which was caused by his own resignation from the BJD in September. He left his position after deciding to join the BJP.

The Election Commission has scheduled these by-elections for December 20, with December 10 as the last day to file nominations. Given the BJP’s strong presence in the Odisha Assembly, where they hold 78 out of 147 seats, Kumar is likely to win this election easily.

This is not the first time a former BJD MP has joined the BJP; Mamata Mohanta from the Kudumi community also resigned from the BJD, joined the BJP, and was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha. Currently, the number of BJD members in the Rajya Sabha has dropped to seven after these resignations.

Daniel Craig’s Captivating Role in ‘Queer’ Sparks Oscar Buzz!

Daniel Craig is getting amazing reviews for his role in the movie “Queer,” directed by Luca Guadagnino. In this film, he plays William Lee, an American drifter who falls in love with a young man while in Mexico.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Craig shared that he couldn’t have taken on this challenging role while he was also playing James Bond. He explained, “If I had done this during my Bond years, it would have seemed like I was just trying to prove I could act in different ways.”

Craig talked about his experience as James Bond, stating it felt like a lot of pressure. He said, “At first, I thought I needed to work on other projects, but I didn’t really need to.” He admitted that being a star brings incredible opportunities but also left him feeling empty. After each Bond film, it took him a long time to feel normal again.

Daniel Craig, who is now 56, first became James Bond in 2006 with “Casino Royale” and appeared in four more Bond movies: “Quantum of Solace,” “Skyfall,” “Spectre,” and “No Time to Die” in 2021. Now, for his performance in “Queer,” there is a lot of talk about him possibly getting an Oscar nomination. He has not received a nomination yet but was recently honored as Best Actor by the National Board of Review.

“Queer” is based on a book of the same name and was adapted for the screen by Justin Kuritzkes. The film also features actors Drew Starkey, Leslie Manville, Jason Schwartzman, and Omar Apollo.

  • Sandeep Vanga Defends ‘Animal’ & ‘Kabir Singh’ Against Toxicity Claims

Sandeep Vanga Defends ‘Animal’ & ‘Kabir Singh’ Against Toxicity Claims

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has received a lot of criticism for his movies like Kabir Singh and Animal. Some people feel these films show toxic masculinity. Recently, he appeared on the show Indian Idol 15 where a contestant named Myscmme praised his movie Animal. However, another contestant, Manasi, disagreed and pointed out a scene she found problematic.

When Manasi mentioned a specific scene, Sandeep challenged her perspective, saying, “You’re upset about a little scene but not about the hero killing 300 people?” Manasi replied that she did have a problem with that too. The discussion then turned to comments made by famous lyricist Javed Akhtar, who warned the film could negatively influence society. Sandeep dismissed these concerns, saying that if Akhtar wasn’t a famous writer, he wouldn’t take his words seriously.

Later, Manasi asked Sandeep if it’s okay for couples to hit each other, referencing the violence in his films. Sandeep insisted that movies are meant for entertainment, not lessons. He urged viewers to stop judging films through a “woke lens” and to just enjoy them as they are. The discussion led to Manasi agreeing and leaving the stage.

Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, opened in December and sparked debate over its themes of masculinity and violence, despite being a box office hit. Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor, also performed well, but faced backlash for showing unhealthy relationships where a couple hits each other.

  • Challenges in Investigating Sexual Abuse in Malayalam Film Industry

Challenges in Investigating Sexual Abuse in Malayalam Film Industry

Law enforcement is facing a tough situation as they deal with 35 police reports (FIRs) that came from a report by the Hema Committee. This report talks about sexual abuse and unfair treatment of women in the Malayalam film industry. Many survivors of these incidents do not want to take legal action, making the investigation harder.

The FIRs were filed by a special team created to investigate claims of molestation, attempted rape, and rape. Some of these claims date back to the early 2000s. Because a lot of time has passed, there isn’t much evidence left, and the investigation needs to rely mostly on the stories of the survivors. Sadly, these stories might not be enough for legal action.

Many survivors have chosen not to name their attackers. However, the police believe they can still find the suspects based on hints given in the survivors’ statements. To keep everyone safe, the details of the FIRs are kept private, protecting both the survivors and the famous people involved in the cases.

Actor Mala Parvathy, who spoke to the committee, has now gone to the Supreme Court to stop the investigation. She believes that it is unfairly bothering innocent people. The decision of the court could greatly impact the investigation and the conversation around holding people accountable in the industry.

In the meantime, G Poonguzhali, an officer in charge of coastal security, has been chosen to help manage the complaints from survivors and ensure their safety from any possible threats related to the Hema Committee report.
