Why She Called Off Her Wedding After His Shocking Secret

A 28-year-old woman shared her shocking wedding story on Reddit after she called it off. She found out that her fiancé, who she’s been with for five years, secretly bought a house with his mom without telling her. They had been saving together for a home they both liked, so she felt completely blindsided.

Her fiancé’s mom convinced him they should buy a house because she didn’t want to rent anymore. Even though he claimed it was a faster way to own property since she was “taking too long” to save up, she felt betrayed. When she asked where she fit into all this, he casually said she could move in too, but she didn’t like the idea of living in a house chosen by his mom, who would also be living there.

She needed some space to think and realized she couldn’t marry someone who treated her like this. His family didn’t understand and told her she was “being dramatic” about the house, while her own parents thought canceling the wedding was too much.

The post quickly got a lot of support from people online. They agreed that she wasn’t in the wrong. One user wrote that he didn’t include her in important decisions, making her feel unimportant. Another pointed out that buying a house with his mom complicates their future. Many felt she was right to walk away from the relationship
