Pawan Kalyan Calls for Unity After Arrest of ISKCON Priest in Bangladesh

On Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan, the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, asked everyone to come together and speak out against the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh. He urged Muhammad Yunus, the interim leader and Nobel Prize winner of Bangladesh, to take action against what he calls “atrocities on Hindus” in that country.

“It hurts to see how people are suffering there. When something bad happens in Palestine, lots of people react, but when it happens in Bangladesh, hardly anyone says anything,” Pawan Kalyan told ANI.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he called for collective support: “Let’s unite to condemn the detention of Chinmoy Krishna Das by the Bangladeshi police. We urge the Bangladesh government, under Muhammad Yunus, to stop the harassment of Hindus. Our Indian soldiers have given their lives for the creation of Bangladesh, and it pains us to see our Hindu friends being attacked. We ask the UN to step in.”

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared its “deep concern” on Tuesday about Das’s arrest and denied bail, asking Bangladesh to protect Hindus and other minorities.

Das is a spokesperson for a group called Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote. The MEA pointed out that his arrest follows other attacks on Hindus by extremist groups in Bangladesh.

In response, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed India’s comments as “baseless” and stated that they go against the friendly relationship between the two countries. They stressed that their courts are independent, and the government does not interfere with them.

    Charges Against Chinmoy Krishna Das

Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on Monday and was brought to a Chittagong court on Tuesday, where his request for bail was denied and he was placed in custody.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, Das appeared before Judge Kazi Shariful Islam at 11 am. His lawyers asked for bail, but the judge did not allow it, sending Das to jail. He faces serious charges of sedition for allegedly raising a flag on a stand where Bangladesh’s national flag was displayed. However, the person who made the complaint reportedly doesn’t want to continue with the case, according to a leader from the minority community.

ISKCON Bangladesh has condemned the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das and has asked the government to promote peaceful coexistence. The organization also made several requests to deal with ongoing attacks on the Sanatani community in Bangladesh.

ISKCON’s requests include making sure that those who attack the Sanatani people are held responsible, protecting the rights of Chinmoy Krishna Das and other members of the Sanatani community, and taking steps to ensure peace and harmony among all groups.

  • Modi Celebrates 75 Years of Indian Constitution at Supreme Court says “nation first”

Modi Celebrates 75 Years of Indian Constitution at Supreme Court says “nation first”

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Constitution Day at the Supreme Court, stating that the Indian Constitution is essential for both today and the future. He mentioned that for 75 years, the Constitution has guided the nation through various challenges. Even during tough times like the emergency period, the Constitution proved its strength.

He proudly noted that the principles of the Constitution are fully in action in Jammu and Kashmir, where Constitution Day was celebrated for the first time this year. The Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in the Central Hall of Parliament on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950. This adoption day is known as Samvidhan Divas.

Modi recalled Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s words about India needing honest leaders who put the country first. He expressed his commitment to respecting the Constitution, emphasizing that he has never overstepped his boundaries as the Prime Minister.

He also remembered the tragic Mumbai terrorist attack that happened on this day in 2008, honoring the victims and promising a strong response to any terrorist threats to India.

Before the event, Modi posted a greeting on X (formerly Twitter) to mark the 75th anniversary. Meanwhile, both the ruling BJP and opposition parties have been criticizing each other over their commitment to constitutional values.

  • Cops Uses Tear Gas Battons As Protests Erupt in Bangladesh After Hindu Leader’s Arrest

Cops Uses Tear Gas Battons As Protests Erupt in Bangladesh After Hindu Leader’s Arrest

In Bangladesh, police used tear gas to break up protests by Hindus who were angry about the arrest of a well-known Hindu leader named Chinmoy Krishna Das. This happened in the big cities of Dhaka and Chittagong. Many people were upset because they feel that Hindus and other minority groups are not safe in the country.

Chinmoy Krishna Das is connected to a group called the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He was arrested at Dhaka airport on Monday for several serious charges, including sedition, which means trying to go against the government. His supporters quickly gathered to protest his arrest, worrying about how Hindus and other small groups are treated in Bangladesh.

Das was taken to jail because he was accused of causing trouble at a rally in Chittagong last month, where he allegedly showed disrespect to the Bangladesh national flag. The rally became violent, and on Tuesday, the court denied him bail. As he was taken back to jail, over 2,000 of his supporters surrounded the police van, blocking it for over two hours.

Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz said the situation was chaotic. “They went on a rampage, throwing bricks at us,” he explained. To control the crowd, police had to use tear gas. Luckily, no serious injuries were reported, but one police officer was hurt.

The unrest has drawn attention from India, which expressed its serious worry for the safety of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said, “This incident follows many attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extreme groups in Bangladesh.” They noted that there have been many cases of violence against minority homes and temples but no one has been punished.

Minority Hindus in Bangladesh make up only about 8% of the population of 170 million, and since August 5, there have been over 200 attacks on them across more than 50 districts

  • Supreme Court Defends EVMs Amid Calls for Paper Ballots

Supreme Court Defends EVMs Amid Calls for Paper Ballots

On November 26, 2024, the Supreme Court talked about how some people criticize Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), saying, “People say EVMs are tampered with when they lose, but they’re fine if they win.”

This statement came from Justice Vikram Nath while he was dismissing a petition from K.A. Paul, an evangelist. Paul wanted the court to switch back to using paper ballots for voting. Justice Nath asked Paul if he was trying to make the court a place for political debates.

Paul insisted he wasn’t being political. He shared that during his travels, he noticed that many democratic countries still use paper ballots for voting.

He highlighted that the hearing took place on Constitution Day, which was significant. Paul also argued that the Election Commission of India should disqualify candidates who distribute money or gifts during elections for five years because this kind of corruption goes against everyone’s right to be treated equally and fairly.

Back in April 2024, the Supreme Court supported the use of EVMs and said that using paper ballots again wouldn’t be a good idea.

The court mentioned that using paper ballots has many known problems, especially considering that India has about 970 million voters and a large number of candidates and polling stations. Switching back would ruin the progress made in elections. EVMs, the court said, have important benefits.

The court also said that having strong distrust in a system can hold back progress. In September 2023, the Election Commission of India reassured the Supreme Court that EVMs can’t be hacked or tampered with. They provided a detailed 450-page report stating that EVMs are stand-alone machines with special chips that can’t be changed

  • South Mumbai Woman Falls for Shocking Digital Arrest Cyber Scam, Loses Rs 3.8 Crore

South Mumbai Woman Falls for Shocking Digital Arrest Cyber Scam, Loses Rs 3.8 Crore

A 77-year-old woman from South Mumbai fell victim to a long and serious online scam. The scammers pretended to be police officers and tricked her into believing she was connected to a big money laundering case. They scared her by saying she would be arrested, which made her very anxious.

The trouble started when she got a WhatsApp call saying that a suspicious package had been sent to Taiwan in her name. The caller claimed it contained illegal items like drugs and fake passports. When she denied sending any package, the caller said her Aadhar card was involved in a crime and transferred her to someone pretending to be the police.

The fake officer told her not to tell anyone and to download the Skype app to keep the “investigation” ongoing. Then, he asked for her bank details. Another scammer, posing as a different police officer, asked her to move money to certain bank accounts for the investigation, saying it would be returned if everything was fine.

The scammers kept her on video call all day and instructed her to go to the bank and transfer money. They even told her to say she was buying property if anyone asked about the transfers. After she sent some money, they credited Rs 15 lakh back to her account to gain her trust.

Over time, she ended up sending Rs 3.8 crore to six different accounts. Another similar case happened in Noida, where a woman was scammed out of Rs 34 lakh, with the fraudsters threatening her with fake notices about a crime
