Farmers to March to Delhi Demanding Fair Compensation and Rights

Delhi is getting ready for more farmer protests. Farmers will start marching toward the national capital on Monday, December 2, as reported by news source ANI. Sukhbir Khalifa, a leader from the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), said they are calling for fair payment and better benefits from new farming laws.

Khalifa mentioned, “We will begin our march from under the Maha Maya flyover in Noida. We expect to arrive in Delhi by noon to demand our rights.”

On the same day, other farmer groups like the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), which are not political, will begin their own marches on December 6. Farmers in Kerala, Uttarakhand, and Tamil Nadu will also have symbolic marches to their local assemblies that day.

Farmers from the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) at the Shambhu border, which is between Punjab and Haryana, plan to join these protests on December 6. They have been staying at these border points since February when they were stopped from marching to Delhi by security forces.

The first group of farmers, or “jatha,” will be led by farmers’ leaders like Satnam Singh Pannu and Surinder Singh Chautala. They will carry important supplies and plan to walk peacefully to Delhi. The farmers will march daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sleep outdoors at night. Along the way, they will stop at places like Jaggi city center in Ambala and the Mohra grain market in Haryana.

What are the Farmers Asking For?
Farmers want a legally guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP), loan waivers for farmers, pensions for farm workers, no increases in electricity costs, and the withdrawal of police cases against them. They also want justice for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence and compensation for families of farmers who died during previous protests.

A government team, including Union ministers Arjun Munda and Piyush Goyal, met with farmers on February 18, but the farmers rejected the offer to buy certain crops at MSP for five years. KMSC leader Sarwan Singh Pandher criticized the government for stopping talks with farmers. “They aren’t talking to us anymore. We want a legal guarantee on the MSP for crops,” he said

  • ISKCON Members Denied Entry to India Amid Concerns for Hindus in Bangladesh

ISKCON Members Denied Entry to India Amid Concerns for Hindus in Bangladesh

In a surprising move, at least 54 members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) were stopped from entering India at the Benapole border. Though they had valid travel documents, Bangladesh’s immigration officials said their travel was “suspicious.” Some reports suggest that more than 70 Hindus were trying to cross the border.

One of the ISKCON members, Saurabh Tapandar Cheli, explained that they planned to attend a religious ceremony in India. However, immigration officials told them they needed permission from the government to enter. Benapole’s Immigration Checkpost Officer, Imtiaz Ahsanul Quader Bhuiyan, stated that they acted based on orders from higher authorities and consulted the police.

The ISKCON group claimed they did not receive clear reasons for their denial at the border, even though they had the correct passports and visas.

This incident comes amid rising tensions in Bangladesh, where Hindu minorities have faced violence from radical Islamist groups. Earlier in the week, India raised concerns about Chinmoy Krishna Das, a member of ISKCON in Bangladesh, who was arrested and denied bail.

Protests broke out in India, especially in West Bengal, where many people called for justice. The Indian government expressed worry about the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh and the rights of minorities to protest peacefully.

Street protests were planned by the Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam, which is linked to a more radical group named Jamaat-e-Islami, demanding a ban on ISKCON.

  • Trump’s FBI Shake-Up: Who is Kash Patel?

Trump’s FBI Shake-Up: Who is Kash Patel?

Donald Trump wants to make big changes to the FBI by bringing in Kash Patel as its new leader. Many Republican senators support Trump’s decision, but they have different views on whether Patel is the right choice.

Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa, who will lead the Senate Judiciary Committee when Republicans take charge in January, said Patel needs to show Congress that he can help rebuild trust in the FBI. However, Patel doesn’t have the experience that past FBI directors had, like Robert Mueller or Christopher Wray, who is the current director.

Trump’s announcement means Wray may have to resign or be fired when Trump starts his new term on January 20, 2025. Senator Mike Rounds from South Dakota said every president wants loyal people but praised Wray as a good man, questioning why change is needed.

Some Republicans support Patel. Senator Bill Hagerty from Tennessee said Patel could help clean up the FBI, which he believes has serious issues. He thinks Patel has the experience to make the needed changes.

During Trump’s first term, Patel worked with important government committees, helping uncover claims about Russia interfering in the election. Trump said Patel stands for truth and accountability.

Patel wants to remove government workers who he feels are disloyal to Trump. He believes the Justice Department needs a major makeover, aiming to have allies in power who will support rather than criticize the president.

Grassley criticized Wray for not doing his job well and called for more transparency at the FBI. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas thinks Patel is a strong candidate who would bring real change.

On the other hand, Democrats are against Patel becoming FBI director. Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut says Patel’s only skill is agreeing with Trump to go after political opponents.

  • Jagraon Man Commits Car Scam: Sells Borrowed Vehicles From Friend for ₹6 Lakhs

Jagraon Man Commits Car Scam: Sells Borrowed Vehicles From Friend for ₹6 Lakhs

A man from Jagraon borrowed cars from his friends and sold them for ₹6 lakh without telling them. This man, Gurraj Singh, claimed to Rajan Vaidh, a car dealer, that the cars were stolen.

A few months ago, Gurraj told Rajan he had two cars, a Toyota Innova and a Swift Dzire, that belonged to his neighbors who wanted to sell them. Rajan trusted him and paid ₹6 lakh for the cars.

Later, Rajan was shocked when the Jagraon crime branch called him and said the cars actually belonged to two other people. They discovered that Gurraj sold the cars without asking their real owners.

Police officer ASI Satnam Singh is looking into the case. When Gurraj was called in, he promised to return the ₹6 lakh to Rajan but hasn’t done so yet. An FIR has been filed against Gurraj under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, and police are working to find him.

  • Disagreements in Maharashtra’s Mahayuti After Assembly Election Victory

Disagreements in Maharashtra’s Mahayuti After Assembly Election Victory

On Sunday, there was some disagreement within the Mahayuti, the alliance of political parties in Maharashtra, about who should lead them after their big win in the assembly elections. The Mahayuti includes the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Together, they won 230 out of 288 seats in the assembly: BJP got 132 seats, Shiv Sena got 57, and NCP got 41.

Shiv Sena MLA Gulabrao Patil claimed that if Ajit Pawar’s NCP hadn’t joined their group, the Shiv Sena would have won even more seats—around 90 to 100. Patil is unhappy about NCP being in the government, saying Shinde didn’t question their presence.

NCP spokesperson Amol Mitkari replied by telling Patil to be careful with his words, suggesting Patil might not get a ministerial position this time around.

Another Shiv Sena MLA, Sanjay Gaikwad, who barely won his election by just 841 votes, criticized his fellow party members for not supporting him and questioned some leaders for talking to candidates from rival groups.

BJP leader Raosaheb Danve commented that if the Shiv Sena hadn’t split from the BJP and had stayed allies, they would have won even more seats.

Looking ahead, the Mahayuti still hasn’t announced who the new chief minister will be, but a ceremony is scheduled for December 5, with hopes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend. Speculation is also building regarding what role Eknath Shinde will play in the new government.

  • Kharge Attacks BJP: Let’s Unite to Protect Our Constitution!

Kharge Attacks BJP: Let’s Unite to Protect Our Constitution!

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a strong rally on Sunday to criticize the BJP-led central government. Speaking at the ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ rally in Ramleela Maidan, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to break people’s unity. Kharge said, “Modi is doing everything he can to divide us. They ignore the common person because they despise them. We are fighting against this hatred. To win this fight, we need political power.”

He further criticized the BJP, claiming they talk about doing the right thing but often act unethically. “They steal your votes using EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) and have manipulated elections in places like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Manipur. They also take your elected governments and your pensions. We need fair elections; don’t let them steal your votes!” Kharge alleged that some election processes were suspicious, claiming there were reports of over 1,000 votes being counted in just one hour.

Kharge emphasized that a united country is crucial for achieving our aims. He stated, “We cannot do anything unless we are united. From Kanyakumari to Kashmir, and Bengal to Gujarat, we must work together.” He reminded everyone that the Constitution belongs to all of us. He called for a nationwide effort to protect it, saying that the achievements after independence, such as women becoming Prime Minister and other leaders, are thanks to the Constitution.

Kharge pointed out that the BJP preaches safety but does not ensure it. He said, “They claim, ‘Stay united, stay safe,’ but they do the opposite.” When asked about Congress visiting Sambhal, Kharge replied confidently, “We will go.” Regarding the frequent breaks in Parliament sessions, he explained that the government blames the opposition for disruptions. Kharge insists that many representatives want to speak, but the House is often closed early, claiming they are causing problems. He said this issue lies with the government, not the opposition. The winter session of Parliament started on November 25 and will end on December 20, but this week it was mostly interrupted because of protests by opposition members seeking discussions on important issues like violence in Manipur and Sambhal.

  • India’s Coal Production Hits Record High: November 2024 Growth Explained

India’s Coal Production Hits Record High: November 2024 Growth Explained

In November this year, India made a big leap in coal production! It produced 90.62 million tonnes (MT) of coal, up from 84.52 MT last year. That’s a fantastic increase of 7.20%!

Captive and other companies contributed significantly, producing 17.13 MT in November 2024, which is a whopping 37.69% more than the 12.44 MT last November.

So far this year (from April to November), India has produced 628.03 MT of coal, an increase from 591.32 MT during the same time last year. That’s a 6.21% growth!

Coal dispatches (the coal sent out for use) also improved. In November 2024, dispatches reached 85.22 MT, compared to 82.07 MT last year—a rise of 3.85%. Dispatches from captive and other sources jumped to 16.58 MT from 13.19 MT, marking a 25.73% increase.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, so far, total dispatches reached 657.75 MT, up from 623.78 MT last year, a growth of 5.45%.

The Ministry of Coal pointed out that coal imports for blending purposes dropped to 9.79 MT this year, down from 10.70 MT last year, which is an 8.5% decline. This shows India’s commitment to becoming more self-sufficient in coal production and relying less on imports. Yet, India still needs some imports, especially for coking coal and high-grade thermal coal, which are not enough in domestic reserves. These imports are crucial for important industries like steel.

  • Eknath Shinde Confirms Maharashtra’s Next CM Announcement Tomorrow!

Eknath Shinde Confirms Maharashtra’s Next CM Announcement Tomorrow!

Satara: The wait for the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra continues. Caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde returned to Mumbai on Sunday after a short stay in his village in Satara, where he was resting after feeling unwell. The police in Satara honored him with a special ceremony before he flew back.

Speaking to reporters, Shinde said that the Chief Minister candidate from the Mahayuti alliance would be announced tomorrow. He reassured everyone that he is feeling better and has fully supported the decisions made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda. Shinde mentioned that he had been working hard without taking any breaks for two and a half years.

He expressed gratitude for the support he received, saying that people are still coming to visit him in his village. “This government will listen to its people,” he added. Shinde underscored the strong cooperation among the Mahayuti leaders, noting that their achievements over the past years have earned them a historic endorsement from the public. Thus, the opposition could not even appoint a Leader of the Opposition.

The final decision on who will be the Chief Minister is coming soon. Shinde, along with Devendra Fadnavis, who is seen as a strong contender, and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, met with Amit Shah and JP Nadda in Delhi to discuss the Chief Minister situation. The Maharashtra Assembly elections results announced on November 23 showed that the Mahayuti alliance scored a big victory. The BJP won 132 seats out of 280, while its partners, Shiv Sena and NCP, secured 57 and 41 seats respectively.
