Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) just got a big boost ahead of the IPL 2025 season. All-rounder Nitish Reddy has passed his fitness test after healing from a side strain injury.
He couldn’t play for India in the Champions Trophy because of this injury, but now he is back in shape and scored 18 on the Yo-Yo test, which measures fitness levels. His return is exciting for SRH, especially since they lost in the finals against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last year.
With Reddy back, SRH improves its batting and bowling strength, making them a stronger candidate to win the IPL 2025 title. The IPL will start on March 22, and SRH aims to set things right after last year’s defeat.
Nitish, who was kept by SRH in the mega-auction, will join the team’s practice camp starting Sunday. He had a solid performance in the 2024 IPL season, scoring 303 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 142.2 and taking three wickets.
Recently, Reddy played a practice match and bowled without any pain. The BCCI medical team looked after him, but his recovery took longer than expected.
At just 25 years old, Reddy has already made a mark, debuting in a T20I against Bangladesh and impressing the selectors. He even became the first Indian to score a century in Australia while batting at No. 8 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024.
Reddy started his IPL journey in 2023 but had a quiet season. However, last season he was crucial for SRH reaching the finals. With Reddy’s return, SRH is eager to kick off the IPL 2025 season strong.

Policeman Dances at RJD Leader’s Holi Bash: A Controversial Celebration
A policeman was caught dancing during a Holi celebration at the home of Tej Pratap Yadav, a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), in Patna, Bihar. At the event, which took place on Saturday, Tej Pratap asked the constable named Deepak to dance. He joked, “Hey constable, we’ll play a song and you have to dance! Don’t worry, it’s Holi. If you don’t dance, you might get suspended!” Following this, the officer joined in and danced along to the music.
While celebrating Holi, Tej Pratap also took a fun ride on a scooter outside the Chief Minister’s residence. However, this act drew criticism. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, remarked that the RJD often disrespects the law and the Constitution. He stated, “They repeatedly insult those in important positions and lower their morale.”
During the festive atmosphere, Tej Pratap expressed confidence in his brother, Tejashwi Yadav, stating that he will become Bihar’s next chief minister. He urged everyone to enjoy Holi peacefully and confirmed that Tejashwi will be the CM this time.
As the state prepares for assembly elections later this year, RJD leaders are working hard to connect with the public. Though the election dates have not been announced, they are expected to be in October.
Holi, also known as Phaguwa in Bhojpuri, is celebrated with bonfires and colors, marking the legend of Holika. Meanwhile, Odisha’s Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan celebrated Holi, wishing good health and happiness for everyone. In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended a Holi event and prayed at a local Gurudwara.

Grenade Attack on Amritsar Temple: Police Investigate ISI Link
A grenade attack happened early Saturday morning outside the Thakur Dwara Temple in Amritsar, Punjab. The blast broke some walls and windows but thankfully, no one got hurt. The event was captured on CCTV, and police are investigating possible connections with Pakistan’s ISI.
In the footage, two people on a motorcycle approached the temple. One of them got off, looked around, and then threw a grenade at the building. They both quickly rode away. The explosion created sparks and a fire at the temple’s front.
Amritsar’s Police Chief, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said they received a call about the blast around 2 AM and sent a team to check things out. He mentioned that the CCTV video has been reviewed, and they have spoken to local residents for more information. Bhullar suggested that the ISI might be trying to send troublemakers into Punjab and promised to find the people responsible soon. He warned local youth not to get involved in illegal activities.
Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, claimed that drones are being used to drop supplies from Pakistan but reassured everyone that Punjab is safe. State Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also said that the situation is under control and the police will capture those responsible quickly.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Punjab government, claiming that law and order has worsened since they took charge. He pointed out the recent string of grenade attacks, including on police stations, suggesting the police focus is misplaced.
Forensic teams are still working at the temple site as investigations continue.

Actress Ranya Rao Denied Bail in Major Gold Smuggling Case
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has told the court that a police officer from Karnataka helped in a gold smuggling case involving actress Ranya Rao. DRI argued against Ranya getting bail, saying she traveled to Dubai 27 times since January this year. Ranya is the stepdaughter of a senior police officer, K Ramachandra Rao.
The investigation has revealed advanced methods used to smuggle gold, including using the police to get through security, and pushing money from India to Dubai through secret channels (called Hawala) to buy gold. The DRI suggests that there is a larger group involved in this smuggling operation. Because of these points, the court denied Ranya bail on Friday.
Judge Vishwanath C Gowdar noted that Ranya holds a UAE Resident Identity Card and has a record of traveling to Dubai multiple times this year, which made it hard for the court to give her bail. The DRI also complained that Ranya did not cooperate during the investigation. They stated that the crime is serious, could lead to up to seven years in prison, and affects India’s economy and security.
The court mentioned that there is a strong hint of conspiracy in how Ranya worked with the police officer. The DRI highlighted that the use of secret money transfers and international connections discovered during the investigation add to the seriousness of the case. The judge expressed concern that Ranya might tamper with evidence or intimidate witnesses, which would disrupt the trial.
Gold bars worth ₹12.56 crores were found with Ranya when she arrived at Kempegowda International Airport from Dubai on March 3. In raids on her home, officials also found gold jewelry worth ₹2.06 crores and cash of ₹2.67 crores.
The Enforcement Directorate and CBI are also looking into this case. The Karnataka government has appointed Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta to examine if Ranya’s stepfather, Ramachandra Rao, had any involvement in her smuggling activities. The government also asked the CID to investigate any mistakes made by police at the airport, but later withdrew the order.

Bhupesh Baghel Dismisses ED Summons for Son Amid Liquor Scam Probe
Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, said on Saturday that his son, Chaitanya, has not been asked to meet with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) about a liquor scam connected to a money laundering case. Baghel’s comments come after reports suggested that Chaitanya was supposed to appear on Saturday to give his statement.
Reporters gathered outside Baghel’s home in Bhilai and the ED office in Raipur since morning. When asked if Chaitanya would go to the ED office, Bhupesh Baghel said there was no reason to go if his son didn’t get a notice first. He added that they would follow the rules once a summons was officially given.
Speaking to reporters outside his house, Baghel expressed that the ED is just trying to create media attention and that he believes the agency is being used to harm people’s reputations. He mentioned past allegations against himself that were cleared by the court, calling these efforts a conspiracy by the BJP to discredit politicians.
On March 10, the ED had conducted searches at Baghel’s home as part of their investigation into a money laundering case involving his son and the liquor scam. Searches also took place at 13 other locations connected to a person close to Chaitanya. During these raids, the ED reportedly seized about Rs 30 lakh in cash and some documents.
Following the raids, there were rumors that the ED summoned Chaitanya for questioning on Saturday. Baghel, who was home during the searches, claimed these actions from the ED were due to the BJP’s frustration. On March 11, the Congress party protested by burning effigies of the BJP-led government and the ED. The ED claims the liquor scam caused the state to lose a lot of money and enriched members of a liquor syndicate by more than Rs 2,100 crore.

Tensions rose in Sainthia town, West Bengal, on Saturday after fights broke out between two groups during Holi celebrations. Reports say that a disagreement started on Friday between some people who were drinking and another group. This turned into a larger fight, with stones being thrown and people getting hurt. Police had to step in and use light force to calm things down.
Adhikari also mentioned that problems weren’t just in Birbhum but in other parts of the state as well. He urged higher authorities, including the Home Ministry and the Bengal Governor, to look seriously into the law and order situation.

Influencer Apologizes for Taking Baby Wombat from Its Mother
An American internet star named Sam Jones caused a lot of anger when she posted a video of herself grabbing a baby wombat from its mother in Australia. She later apologized, saying she only acted because she was worried about the baby wombat’s safety.
Australian officials were looking into whether Jones broke any laws and even threatened to send her back home after seeing her video on Instagram. Jones explained she ran away with the baby wombat because she feared the mother might attack her. “I didn’t mean to take the baby away, I just panicked,” she wrote in her apology.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called her actions “outrageous.” Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke mentioned he would check if Jones had broken her visa rules before she left Australia on Friday. He joked that it was a great day for baby wombats and noted that she shouldn’t expect to come back.
Jones, who is from Montana, said she had seen two wombats on the road and wanted to make sure they were safe to avoid an accident. When she got closer, the baby wombat didn’t move, which made her worried it was hurt. “I made a quick choice to pick up the baby to check on it,” she said.
A man who was filming her laughed as she shouted, “I caught a baby wombat,” even as they heard the mother wombat making angry noises. Animal experts pointed out that Jones could have hurt the baby wombat by holding it the way she did.
Eventually, Jones returned the baby wombat to its mother and made sure they both got off the road safely. In her apology, she said she’s thought a lot about the situation and knows she could have done better. “I am really sorry for the trouble I caused,” she added.
Experts also mentioned that the baby wombat looked like it had a skin problem called mange and needed help to survive.

Kerala High Court Allows 50-Year-Old Woman to Pursue Surrogacy Rights
In an important decision, the Kerala High Court has allowed a 50-year-old woman to become a mother through surrogacy. This ruling is under a law called the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021. A panel of judges overturned a previous decision that had stopped the woman from using a surrogate because of her age. They pointed out that the law actually allows surrogacy for women between 23 and 50 years old, which includes women who have just turned 50.
The woman and her husband had argued against a decision made by the Kerala State Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board (KSARTSB), which said she couldn’t use surrogacy because of her age. The board’s decision was first supported by a single judge, but the higher court changed this ruling and ordered the board to give the woman an approval certificate within a week.
The big question was whether a woman who has already turned 50 could still qualify for surrogacy. The woman’s birthdate is June 24, 1974, confirming she is 50. The initial ruling had said she was not eligible, based on the idea that a person is considered to reach a specific age the day before their birthday.
However, the division bench looked at how different laws define age. They noted that another law, the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Act, says women must be over 21 but under 50 for certain procedures. The judges discussed that surrogacy is much more about emotional connections than medical risks.
The court emphasized that the Surrogacy Act is meant to stop bad practices, like forcing women to be surrogates or choosing the sex of babies, not to block women who genuinely want to become mothers. They recognized that this might be the woman’s last chance to experience motherhood, which is important for many people. The judges concluded that the law should make it possible for mothers to have children, rather than keep them from having that chance.
