Mamata Banerjee’s Ambition: Can She Lead the INDIA Bloc?”

Kolkata (West Bengal): West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has hinted she might lead the opposition group called the INDIA bloc. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee responded by saying that Congress is losing its power, which is why Mamata wants to step up as the main opposition leader. Chatterjee told ANI that we shouldn’t trust anything Mamata Banerjee says.

He pointed out that after Congress lost important elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand, the party is becoming less significant. Chatterjee believes Mamata is trying to take advantage of Congress’s struggles.

Earlier, BJP’s Tarun Chugh said that both the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi are holding the alliance back. He claimed they are more of a burden than a help and that the main goal of the INDIA bloc is to protect corrupt leaders.

On December 3, TMC MP Kirti Azad commented on how Mamata Banerjee could lead the INDIA bloc, highlighting her track record of working well with others. He noted that whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed in West Bengal, Mamata’s support has grown.

On November 26, another TMC MP, Kalyan Banerjee, suggested the need for a strong leader to guide the INDIA bloc, especially after Congress’s recent losses in Haryana and Maharashtra. He emphasized that the opposition needs to be united to challenge the BJP effectively.

  • US Denies BJP’s Claims of Conspiracy Against India’s Leaders

US Denies BJP’s Claims of Conspiracy Against India’s Leaders

On Saturday, the US government rejected claims from India’s ruling party, the BJP, which suggested that some US organizations were trying to create chaos in India. The BJP accused foreign groups of targeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and businessman Gautam Adani. A spokesperson from the US embassy said these claims were disappointing and emphasized that the US supports media freedom around the world.

The BJP pointed to recent attacks by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who used information from the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) to criticize the Adani Group, claiming it was too close to the government.

The US embassy official explained that the US works with independent groups to help journalists improve their skills, but this does not affect what those groups write about. OCCRP, which is based in Amsterdam, focuses on stories about crime and corruption.

The BJP also mentioned a French report claiming that OCCRP is funded by the US State Department and influential figures like George Soros. However, the US insists that a free press is vital for democracy, helping people discuss important issues and hold leaders accountable.

Last month, Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar, and others faced charges in the US for allegedly paying over $250 million in bribes to Indian government officials. This money was supposedly for winning solar energy contracts that could earn more than $2 billion in profit. After these accusations, the Congress party called for a serious investigation and accused the government of protecting Adani. In response, the Adani Group labeled the charges as false.

  • Samajwadi Party Exits Maha Vikas Aghadi Over Controversial Comments

Samajwadi Party Exits Maha Vikas Aghadi Over Controversial Comments

In a surprising move, the Samajwadi Party (SP) announced that it is leaving the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra. This decision came after a close aide of Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena UBT leader, praised the demolition of the Babri Masjid, a mosque that was destroyed over 30 years ago.

Abu Azmi, the head of the Samajwadi Party in Maharashtra, stated on Twitter that they cannot support the communal ideas of the Shiv Sena UBT while being part of the MVA. He mentioned that the Samajwadi Party has two MLAs in the 288-member state Assembly and is ready to work on its own if necessary.

Azmi explained that the party’s decision was influenced by an advertisement from Shiv Sena UBT that celebrated the mosque’s demolition. He highlighted a social media post from an MLC of Shiv Sena UBT, Milind Narvekar, which included a quote from founder Bal Thackeray, saying he is proud of those who tore down the mosque.

Azmi further questioned the difference between the Shiv Sena UBT and the BJP if they continue to speak in such a manner.

The Babri Mosque, a building with a rich history, was demolished in 1992 by supporters of a Hindu group. The Supreme Court eventually ruled in favor of building a Ram temple at the site, allowing for a mosque to be built elsewhere.

Teen Stabbed to Death Over Toilet Argument in Delhi

A tragic incident happened in Govindpuri, South Delhi, where an 18-year-old scrap shop worker named Sudheer was allegedly killed by his neighbors during a dispute over a shared toilet. The fight began late Friday night between two families living in the same building.

The trouble started when Bhikam Singh’s youngest son used the common toilet without flushing it properly. Sudheer complained about this, which led to a heated argument. In the chaos, Bhikam Singh, his wife Meena, and their three sons attacked Sudheer and his two friends with a kitchen knife and other objects.

Sudheer suffered serious injuries and later died because of them. His brother, Prem, is still in the hospital, while their friend Sagar has been treated and sent home.

After the fight, Bhikam’s family told the police they were being attacked, but witnesses say it was Sudheer and his friends who were in danger. This incident raises serious concerns about safety in the area, especially after another recent shooting involving a police officer. Sudheer had only moved into the neighborhood 45 days earlier from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, where he paid a rent of ₹3,000 and lived with his brother, who drives an e-rickshaw.

A video of a couple having sex on a Swiss Air flight has upset many people online, leading to an investigation by the airline. The incident happened in November on Flight 181, which was traveling from Bangkok to Zurich. The footage was recorded by security cameras in the airplane’s kitchen area.

Swiss Air is looking into the situation because the couple’s privacy was violated. The airline has promised to find out who filmed the video without permission and to take appropriate action against those involved.

  • Vadra Urges for Unity Over Religious Politics Amid Rising Farmer Protests”

Vadra Urges for Unity Over Religious Politics Amid Rising Farmer Protests”

Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, spoke out on Saturday about the current focus on mosques in politics. He believes that instead of worrying about religious sites, leaders should be helping people who are struggling with rising prices and farmers protesting. Vadra warned that concentrating on religious surveys could lead to more communal issues.

He said, “We should keep religion away from politics because India is a land of many beliefs. It’s important to promote peace and unity among everyone.” Vadra was in Mumbai, where he offered prayers at the famous Haji Ali Dargah, wishing for the well-being of his family and the nation.

Vadra also expressed his doubts about the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in elections. He questioned how the ruling BJP could win elections in Haryana and Maharashtra if people were unhappy with them. Farmers have been demonstrating, asking for fair prices for their crops.

He criticized the way opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has been treated and mentioned that Priyanka Gandhi, his wife and Congress MP, will represent women’s issues strongly in Parliament. Vadra believes that the future of Congress is bright with Priyanka and Rahul pushing for the people’s voices in government.

  • Lights Out! Confusion Strikes Adelaide Test Match

Lights Out! Confusion Strikes Adelaide Test Match

The exciting pink-ball Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is happening right now in Adelaide. On the first day, something strange happened at the Adelaide Oval that confused both players and fans. During Australia’s first innings, the floodlight towers turned off twice while Harshit Rana from India was bowling the 18th over. This caused delays in the evening, and fans became more involved by turning on the flashlights on their phones.

As a result of the delays, the last session of the match was extended by three extra minutes. But what caused the lights to go out? According to a report, the Australian team had asked the Adelaide Oval management to switch on the net lights for the game. When the staff in the control room were adjusting the lights, four of the floodlight towers accidentally turned off.

Tom Koutsantonis, a South Australian MP, tweeted that there was no power shortage in the area, confirming that the lights went out not due to a lack of electricity. David Warner made a joke during the broadcast, saying, “Someone hasn’t paid their bills here.” Mark Howard also chimed in, joking that people in South Australia should avoid using their air conditioners or kettles to save power.

On the field, things weren’t going well for India as they scored just 180 runs in their first innings. Meanwhile, Australia did much better, finishing with 337 runs, thanks to a fantastic century from Travis Head, who scored 140 runs off 141 balls with 17 fours and four sixes.
