  • Netanyahu Testifies in Corruption Trial Amid Gaza Crisis”

Netanyahu Testifies in Corruption Trial Amid Gaza Crisis”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is about to testify in his corruption trial. This is a big moment, especially since he is also dealing with a war in Gaza and has an international arrest warrant for war crimes. Netanyahu is accused of fraud, breach of trust, and accepting bribes in three different cases. He denies doing anything wrong. His testifying will be a low point in his long career, as it contrasts with the image of a smart and respected leader he has tried to show.

The trial started in 2020 and has included many witnesses, like former friends and media personalities, who have spoken against him. The prosecution has shown over 140 pieces of evidence, such as recordings and texts. A documentary called “The Bibi Files” has also revealed police questioning footage of Netanyahu and his wife, showing him appearing anxious and combative.

As Netanyahu takes the stand, he will be under pressure to manage a war at the same time. His trial is being held in a secure underground room for safety reasons. The prosecution wants to show that he is obsessed with getting good press, while the defense argues he is innocent and was wrongly targeted by police.

The court has now taken a break for summer and fall, but the trial will resume with Netanyahu as the first witness for the defense. His testimony is likely to last several weeks. Critics say the legal troubles made him push for controversial laws that divided the country. There are concerns he might be prolonging the conflict in Gaza to avoid political damage.

A decision in the case might not come until at least 2026, and Netanyahu can appeal to the Supreme Court afterward. Each side will summarize their arguments before the judges decide on Netanyahu’s fate.

AAP’s Major Candidate Shift for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. A big change is that Manish Sisodia, who is a top leader in the party, will now run for the Jangpura seat instead of his usual Patparganj area. Sisodia has been elected from Patparganj since he first ran in December 2013. Avadh Ojha, who recently joined AAP and is an educator, will now be the candidate for Patparganj.

Manish Sisodia used to be the deputy chief minister of Delhi. He won by large margins in 2013 and 2015 but only had a narrow win in 2020.

Another important name from the second list is Rakhi Bidlan, who is the deputy speaker in the Delhi assembly. She will now run for the Madipur seat instead of her current seat in Mangolpuri, which will go to Rakesh Jatav Dharamrakshak

  • Josh Hazlewood Aims for Return as Australia Eyes Series Win Against India

Josh Hazlewood Aims for Return as Australia Eyes Series Win Against India

Melbourne, Australia: Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is hopeful about his fitness before the third Test against India at the famous Gabba stadium in Brisbane. Hazlewood has been dealing with a side strain, which kept him out of the game when Australia won the second Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets, tying the five-match series at 1-1. This win has given the team a boost in their chances of reaching the ICC World Test Championship Final next year.

Hazlewood, who took four wickets in the first Test in Perth, worked hard on his fitness in Adelaide on Monday. He hopes to play in the upcoming Test if he doesn’t feel any pain in the next couple of days. “It really depends on how I feel in the 24 hours after my workout,” Hazlewood said, adding, “It’s important to cool down and then see how my body reacts before deciding if I can play again.”

If Hazlewood returns, Scott Boland may have to sit out, even though he played well in Adelaide. Both bowlers will head to Brisbane for the test match, where Australia hopes to improve their recent record. They have lost two out of the last four Tests held at the Gabba, including a match against India. Hazlewood believes that if the team adjusts quickly to playing with a red ball instead of a pink one, they will do well. “We usually play well in Brisbane. The last match was with a pink ball, but the red ball suits us better,” he explained.

In the second Test, India elected to bat first but struggled against the moving pink ball and fast bowler Mitchell Starc. They managed just 180 runs, with only a few partnerships standing out. Australian captain Pat Cummins and Boland took crucial wickets.

In their first innings, Australia put together a strong performance, with Travis Head scoring 140 runs. This helped them get to a total of 337 runs, giving them a lead of 157 runs.

In the second innings, India faced more challenges as their star players failed to perform. They ended the day at 128 for 5 wickets. The next day didn’t go better for India, who got bowled out for just 175 runs, with Australia needing only 19 runs to win. Cummins took five wickets, while Boland and Starc chipped in as well.

With a target of just 19 runs, Khawaja and McSweeney quickly scored the runs in just 3.2 overs, giving Australia a comfortable win.

  • Tensions Rise: Siraj and Head’s Heated Exchange in Test Match

Tensions Rise: Siraj and Head’s Heated Exchange in Test Match

Whenever India and Australia play Test cricket, there’s a good chance that tensions might rise. The first big clash in this ongoing series is between Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj and Australian batter Travis Head. After their recent match, the captains—Pat Cummins from Australia and Rohit Sharma from India—were asked about it during a press conference.

Cummins grew frustrated with the questions about Siraj claiming that Head “lied” about what was said during the match. He responded, “I reckon we’ve spoken enough about that,” before leaving the press conference when an Indian reporter asked about the incident.

Here’s how it all started: Siraj got Head out after Head scored an impressive 140 runs. India lost the match by 10 wickets, and Australia continued their strong record in pink-ball Tests played in Adelaide. After Head got out, Siraj celebrated, and Head reacted with words of his own.

In a press conference, Head said he told Siraj “well bowled” after getting out, and he was disappointed with Siraj’s response. He mentioned that he was just trying to stand up for himself and that he liked to play the game respectfully.

On the other hand, Siraj strongly disagreed. He said Head didn’t compliment him at all. “It was a tough battle, and when I got him out, I celebrated. He said something to me too,” Siraj explained. He insisted that Head’s claim of saying “well bowled” was not true, adding, “Everyone saw that I didn’t say anything bad to him.”

  • Supreme Court Dismisses Plea on Farmer Highway Blockades in Punjab

Supreme Court Dismisses Plea on Farmer Highway Blockades in Punjab

On Monday, the Supreme Court decided not to take action on a request that asked the government to clear roads in Punjab where farmers are protesting. The case was discussed by a group led by Justice Surya Kant.

A social activist from Punjab had filed the request. The activist wanted to know if the government could stop the farmers from blocking the roads and railway tracks during their protests. Groups of farmers, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have been protesting at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Punjab and Haryana since February 13. Their protest began when police stopped them from marching into Delhi.

The farmers first planned to enter Delhi on December 6, but after police used tear gas to break up their efforts, they decided to pause their march. However, they resumed their protest on December 8 but faced more police action.

The farmers have reportedly blocked the Shambhu highway for over a year, and recently, they have also blocked several other highways across Punjab. This news was shared by the news agency PTI.

The plea claimed that these blockades were a security risk because a lot of army movements go through Punjab, especially towards the northern borders. It also mentioned that local residents from Punjab and nearby states are struggling to reach hospitals quickly in emergencies, as even ambulances can’t get through blocked roads.

The activist’s plea argued that everyone has the right to move freely on highways, and that right is being taken away because of the farmers blocking them. The plea stated that outside forces might be trying to use the farmers to cause trouble in Punjab, a state that plays a crucial role in the country and has faced many challenges from neighboring nations.
