A man with a huge Great Dane on a plane has caused a lot of people to complain online. Recently, a content creator named Rob posted a video on Instagram showing this man bringing his Great Dane as an “emotional support animal” (ESA) onto a commercial flight.
In the video, the flight attendant seemed surprised when the massive dog stepped on her foot, crying out in pain, “Ow!” The dog owner quickly apologized. Rob asked in his post, “Have we taken this support animal thing too far?”
Many people on social media reacted negatively, agreeing that a dog this big shouldn’t be on a plane. One person wrote, “Emotional support for one person, emotional stress for everyone else! This is ridiculous.” Another person noted that this dog didn’t look like a trained therapy animal.
Support animals, especially in the U.S., have become a big topic. While some believe they help people, others feel that not every pet deserves the same privileges as trained service animals. The video gathered about 3.6 million views, with some people even saying the flight attendant was overreacting.
Great Danes are one of the largest types of dogs. They can weigh between 110 to 180 pounds (50 to 82 kg) and stand 30 to 34 inches tall. They originally came from Germany and were bred to hunt large animals like wild boar.
