  • Mayank Yadav’s Recovery: Big Boost for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025

Mayank Yadav’s Recovery: Big Boost for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025

On Monday morning, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got some exciting news about their bowler, Mayank Yadav. He is getting better after his injury but might not be ready at the start of the 2025 IPL season. LSG will kick off their season against the Delhi Capitals on March 24 in Vizag.

Reports say Mayank has started bowling again, and he might play his first game of the season in mid-April. This means he could join the team when they play against Chennai Super Kings at their home stadium, Ekana.

A source close to Mayank said, “He is looking good and should be back in IPL soon.” However, LSG wanted Mayank to recover under their care at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), but they were not allowed as he is now officially with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Mayank made his IPL debut last year, playing just four matches and taking seven wickets before getting hurt. His performance impressed the BCCI, leading to his selection for the Indian national team, where he played three matches against Bangladesh and took four wickets.

Despite this good news, LSG is still worried. Along with Mayank, they are waiting for updates on two other bowlers, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan, who are also dealing with injuries. Plus, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will only be able to play as a batter due to a back injury.

To fill the gaps, LSG might consider bringing in Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who was seen training with them on Sunday. He had not been picked in the mega auction last November.

  • Shigeru Ishiba’s Approval Ratings Dive Over Gift Voucher Scandal

Shigeru Ishiba’s Approval Ratings Dive Over Gift Voucher Scandal

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is facing big trouble as his approval ratings have dropped a lot. Recent polls show that many people are unhappy with him, especially after he gave out expensive gift vouchers to new lawmakers in his party. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which has been in charge of Japan for almost 70 years, has been hit hard by scandals, including some that led to his predecessor losing his job.

According to a recent poll by Asahi Shimbun, only 26% of voters support Ishiba now, down from 40% in February. Another poll by Yomiuri Shimbun shows support at 31%, down from 39%. This is the lowest rating for Ishiba since he became Prime Minister in October last year.

Ishiba, who is 68 years old, has been criticized for giving away vouchers worth 100,000 yen (about $670) to 15 new LDP lawmakers. He insists he did nothing wrong and that the vouchers were meant as a sign of appreciation, not a political bribe. During a recent discussion in parliament, he apologized for any confusion caused by the voucher issue.

The Asahi poll revealed that 75% of people think giving out the gift vouchers was a bad idea, while only 23% disagreed. However, 60% of respondents believe Ishiba should stay in his position, while 32% think he should step down. The Yomiuri poll had similar results, showing that 75% found the vouchers problematic.

As his support wanes, there are fears within the LDP that Ishiba might be pressured to resign before an important election in July for the upper house of parliament. Since Ishiba held a snap election last October, he has faced increasing criticism for corruption within his party and rising prices that upset voters. The recent election saw his coalition lose a majority in the lower house, the worst result in 15 years for the LDP. Now, they need help from opposition parties to pass new laws. A third poll by Mainichi Shimbun reported support for Ishiba at only 23%, down from 30% in February, with 78% considering the vouchers a problem.

Federal Workers Return to Office Chaos: Many Seeking to Quit

Beginning on January 20, President Donald Trump made federal government workers return to their offices full-time after years of working from home due to COVID-19. His decision aimed to save money and make government work better with the help of billionaire Elon Musk, who’s in charge of improving government efficiency.

Over 100,000 workers have left their jobs or accepted pay to leave since this change started. Many federal employees had worked remotely for a long time. According to government reports, around 1.1 million workers were allowed to work from home, but about 228,000 were fully remote.

At NASA’s headquarters in Washington, workers found cockroaches and bugs in the office, and many had to work from chairs with no desks. Matt Biggs, who represents 8,000 NASA employees, said it was a mess, making it hard for people to do their jobs.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) workers called their search for desks “The Hunger Games,” as they had to compete for space. One employee in Chicago even worked from a box in a storage room.

At the Department of Agriculture, workers are fighting for space and are struggling with no paper towels in the bathrooms. An IRS office in Memphis has issues discussing sensitive information due to lack of privacy, and some employees are even sitting on the floor with their laptops.

The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) mentioned it could not promise desks or parking spots for the 18,000 employees returning to work. Critics say this move was to make work so difficult that more employees would leave.

Steve Lenkart, head of the National Federation of Federal Employees, called it a strategy to confuse people and make them quit. Professor Pam Herd from the University of Michigan pointed out that the move was rushed, without thinking about how to properly accommodate workers.

However, a spokesperson for the Office of Personnel Management said the goal was to improve teamwork and service. The government assures that efforts are being made to fix the issues.

Tragic Vadodara Car Crash: 1 Dead, 4 Injured Due to Reckless Driving

A serious car crash in Vadodara caused one woman to die and left four others injured. The accident involved a 23-year-old law student named Rakshit Chaurasia, who was driving too fast. Vikas Kewalani, one of the injured, said they had just left their home for a snack with friends when a speeding car hit them. He was riding a two-wheeler with his friend Hemali Patel, who sadly lost her life in the crash. Her husband is hurt and in critical condition.

Kewalani explained that when the car hit them, he saw it crash into other vehicles, making them fly in the air. He also mentioned that Chaurasia seemed drunk and was speeding just for fun. “People who drive like this need to face strict punishment,” Kewalani said, while he and others are in the hospital with injuries, some of them quite serious, like broken bones.

Chaurasia, however, claimed he wasn’t drunk. He said he was driving at 50 km/h but lost control due to potholes in the road. Eyewitnesses said they saw him behaving strangely, asking for ‘another round’ after the crash. This incident has upset many people online and has even caught the attention of politicians.

  • Budget Session Resumes: Exciting Discussions in Parliament Ahead

Budget Session Resumes: Exciting Discussions in Parliament Ahead

The Budget Session of Parliament will start up again on Monday. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which are the two houses of Parliament, will meet. They were closed for a break during Holi and are set to convene again at 11:00 am.

In the Lok Sabha, several important topics will be discussed, including reports from committees that review different areas of government. BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh and SP MP Virendra Singh will talk about the Defence Committee’s reports. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and BJP MP Arun Govil will share the fifth report from the External Affairs Committee, focusing on the Ministry of External Affairs’ budget for 2025-26. Also, Lok Sabha members PC Mohan and Godam Nagesh will present reports on social justice initiatives.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will propose a motion to elect two members to the court of the University of Delhi. The session will also discuss and vote on the budget requests from the Ministry of Railways for the upcoming year.

The second part of the budget session began on March 10 and will last until April 4. Recently, the Rajya Sabha faced chaos over Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s controversial “thokenge” remark about the government’s policies. He stated this while responding to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after a disagreement about the three-language policy.

Many BJP leaders were upset, saying Kharge’s words were disrespectful and demanded an apology. Kharge quickly apologized, saying he did not intend to offend the chair but was addressing the government’s policies instead.

Aside from that issue, Union Education Minister Pradhan clarified the government’s view on the National Education Policy. He responded to accusations from the DMK regarding the promotion of the Hindi language in Tamil Nadu. Pradhan emphasized that the central government does not want to divide society through language and underscored the importance of Tamil as an ancient language.

  • China’s Spending Plans Lift Asian Markets Amid US Economic Uncertainty

China’s Spending Plans Lift Asian Markets Amid US Economic Uncertainty

Asian stock markets went up after China promised to take new steps to boost spending. Meanwhile, US stock futures fell a bit after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the recent market drop is normal. On Monday morning, stocks in Australia, Japan, and South Korea were doing well, and Hong Kong futures showed signs of a rise, too. This followed a strong Friday when the S&P 500 rose by 2.1% as the government avoided a shutdown, and the tech-focused Nasdaq 100 also jumped 2.1%. The Golden Dragon index, which tracks Chinese stocks, increased by 2.7% because Chinese authorities are set to announce measures to encourage spending.

The market is keeping a close watch on China after Xinhua reported that leaders will share plans to stabilize the stock and real estate markets and help boost wages and the birth rate. Key Chinese data, like factory output and retail sales for February, will be released on Monday and closely examined. Tony Sycamore, an analyst, said that these new initiatives should lift the spirits of Chinese consumers, which might support a global stock market rally that began on Friday.

In Asia, US Treasury bonds ticked up slightly after their drop on Friday, as stock futures in the US went down. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note slipped to 4.30% following a rise the previous day.

Investors are also keeping an eye on upcoming central bank meetings this week as trade tensions continue. The Bank of Japan is expected to keep its interest rates steady after raising them last month, while the Bank of England also looks set to maintain its position. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has the tough job of reassuring investors that the economy is strong but ready to help if needed.

Economists are keen to see the updated economic forecasts from the Fed, which might lower growth estimates and slightly raise inflation predictions. However, changes to the “dot plot,” which shows Fed members’ rate predictions, might not happen if they believe the rise in inflation will be temporary.

On a separate note, German Chancellor-in-waiting Friedrich Merz announced a deal with the Green party for a debt-funded defense and infrastructure plan. The euro has strengthened for two weeks and is near its highest value against the dollar since November, ahead of a key vote on this plan set for Tuesday.

In the commodities market, oil prices rose for the second straight day thanks to China’s stimulus plans, while gold prices edged up after a slight dip on Friday, ending a four-day winning streak amid shifting market moods.

It says that Trump has a special statue in his office that changes Mount Rushmore into “Mount Trumpmore.” This statue shows Trump’s face alongside the faces of famous presidents like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.

This sculpture was originally given to Trump by Kristi Noem in July 2020 during a big event at Mount Rushmore. Photos from 2021 show Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida with this statue nearby.

People talking about this on X (a social media platform) recently said, “Check out this golden statue with Trump’s head!” In 2021, photos of Trump with the Mount Trumpmore statue got shared a lot, including one where he was with Kyle Rittenhouse, who was in the news for being found not guilty in a case about a protest.

  • Mohit Sharma & Virat Kohli Discuss BCCI’s Family Tour Rules

Mohit Sharma & Virat Kohli Discuss BCCI’s Family Tour Rules

Indian cricketer Mohit Sharma recently shared his thoughts on the new rules by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about players having their families with them on tours. This topic has sparked many opinions from players, including famous batsman Virat Kohli, but Mohit took a different approach. He believes that players should focus on the things they can control.

According to the new rules, players’ families, like their spouses and kids, can only travel with them for a maximum of 14 days after the first two weeks on tours longer than 45 days. For shorter tours, families can join for only a week. This change in policy came after India lost to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In an interview, Mohit Sharma said, “Some things are out of our control. While everyone has their own opinions, it’s important to focus on what we can manage. Having families with us is not a bad thing. If something is beyond our control, it’s best to accept it. Instead of arguing about it, we should focus on what we can do.”

Kohli also spoke about this issue at a sports summit, expressing his feelings. He said, “It’s really important to come back to your family, especially after tough games. Many people don’t understand how much having family around helps players to feel grounded and normal.” Kohli added, “I just want to live a normal life. After finishing my game, I want to go back home to my family. It brings happiness and helps me balance my life.
