Gyanendra Shah’s Return: Supporters Demand Monarchy in Nepal

On Sunday, Gyanendra Shah, Nepal’s former king, arrived in Kathmandu with heavy security. As he landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport from Pokhara in a helicopter, many supporters showed up to welcome him. They were shouting slogans like “We want our King back!” and “Bring back the monarchy!”

Gyanendra, who is 77 years old, came back to Kathmandu after visiting religious sites. Supporters on motorbikes lined the streets holding his pictures and waving national flags.

The police were present near the old royal palace to keep order because of rumors that Gyanendra might go there with his supporters. But everything went smoothly as the crowd made their way to his private home, Nirmal Niwas, outside the city.

For several days, many people have been rallying for the monarchy to return since it was removed in 2008 during a movement for democracy. Popular Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, who is related to a famous former prime minister, asked everyone on social media to welcome the former king at the airport.

The pro-monarchy supporters have gained attention since Gyanendra said, “It’s time for us to help protect the country and create unity.”

Bracewell’s Heroics Lead New Zealand to 251 in Champions Trophy Final!

In the final match of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Michael Bracewell played a fantastic innings, scoring an unbeaten 53 runs for New Zealand against India. The game took place on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Bracewell’s 40-ball performance included 3 fours and 2 sixes, helping New Zealand reach a total of 251 runs for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. This score gives the New Zealand team something to defend, as they are hoping to stop India’s batting with spin bowlers like Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra.

Bracewell played well against India’s fast bowlers, Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya, especially in the last few overs, which helped his team post a total over 250. He also formed an important partnership of 46 runs with Daryl Mitchell for the sixth wicket, which helped New Zealand recover after India’s spinners slowed down the scoring.

India’s bowlers, especially Kuldeep Yadav, did a great job. Kuldeep took 2 wickets for 40 runs, taking key players Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson out. Rachin and Will Young gave New Zealand a solid start with a 57-run opening partnership, but then Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed Young, and Kuldeep got Rachin out for 37 runs in his first over. Daryl Mitchell was the top scorer for New Zealand with 63 runs, but his innings took 101 balls and included many dot balls, adding pressure on other players.

Varun Chakaravarthy helped India by taking two wickets, getting Young and Glenn Phillips out. India’s fast bowlers, Shami and Hardik, allowed 104 runs in just 12 overs. In comparison, the spinners bowled 38 overs, giving away 147 runs and taking 5 wickets.

Aamir Khan Reflects on Missed Film Opportunities: Darr and Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Did you know that Aamir Khan had a chance to star in the films Darr and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, but he decided not to? This choice ended up benefiting Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. At the trailer launch for Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar in Mumbai on Sunday, Aamir talked about these past opportunities.

When asked which films he regret not taking, Aamir shared about Darr. He explained, “I was supposed to do Darr, but didn’t for some reasons, not related to creativity. Looking back, I think it worked out for the best because Shah Rukh fit the role better. If I had done it, everything might have turned out differently. I don’t really regret it since the film was great and successful. I just wasn’t the right match for it.”

Then someone in the audience reminded him about Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Aamir replied, “Oh yes! I heard the script and thought it would be better for Salman Khan. I liked the story but suggested that they show it to him instead. The writer didn’t go to Salman right away but went to Kabir Khan first, who then approached Salman.”

Aamir also mentioned Munna Bhai, saying that the director, Raju, wanted him in the film, but things changed, making it more of a sequel.

    About the Films
Darr, released in 1993 and directed by Yash Chopra, became a breakthrough for Shah Rukh Khan, who was fairly new in Bollywood. He played an obsessed lover and received praises for his performance.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan, directed by Kabir Khan and released in 2015, was a huge hit. It starred Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and it tells the touching story of a man from Delhi helping a lost Pakistani girl find her way back home.

  • Students Rally for Education Rights on March 24

Students Rally for Education Rights on March 24

In New Delhi, seven student groups from different parts of India are getting together to protest at Jantar Mantar, a famous place in Delhi, on March 24. They will protest under the name ‘India Alliance Student Organisations.’ These students want to address important issues affecting them, like exam paper leaks, the need for university elections, and the removal of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The groups involved are the National Students Union of India (NSUI), All India Students Association (AISA), Students Federation of India (SFI), All India Students Federation (AISF), Muslim Students Federation (MSF), Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, and Chhatra Rashtriya Janata Dal (CRJD). Starting from March 17 to March 22, they will hold protests and press conferences across the country to raise awareness for their cause leading up to the big protest on March 24.

The Union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, responded to their concerns, explaining that new rules from the University Grants Commission (UGC) would give universities more power to hire their teachers and help develop state universities. However, some leaders from the opposition say these new rules take away important powers from the state governments regarding the hiring of university leaders.

The student groups say they will invite teachers, education experts, political leaders from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), and students from all over the country to join them. They hope to attract attention to educational issues during the government’s budget discussions.

NSUI national president Varun Choudhary said, “We invite all student organisations, teachers, and education experts to join us on March 24. We expect around 5,000 students to participate. We want the NEP 2020 and the new UGC rules to be taken back. We also want fair student elections at all universities and colleges, filling of reserved seats, and support for scholarships.”

The NEP 2020 was started by the Indian government on July 29, 2020, to improve the country’s education system and make it more relevant to future needs while keeping Indian culture in mind. This new policy replaced an older one from 1986 and suggested significant changes in how education is organized from schools to universities.

The new rules about hiring teachers, shared on January 6, state that a special committee will help choose vice-chancellors at universities. This committee will include a governor’s representative as the chair and two others chosen by the UGC and the university board.

Meanwhile, students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are also protesting because their student union elections have been delayed. At Delhi University (DU), students will elect leaders from their colleges to form a team for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU).

Aishe Ghosh, the SFI Delhi state secretary, said, “The central government wants to control student elections like they do with elections in states and at the national level.”

Constable Detained for Alleged Rape of Married Woman

A constable at the Sanganer police station has been taken into custody for allegedly raping a married woman. The incident happened when the constable, Bhagaram, was supposed to help the woman by recording her statement about a complaint her husband had made against a neighbor.

According to the woman’s husband, Bhagaram took his wife and their young son to a hotel under the false claim that he needed to gather information for the investigation. While the husband was at work, the constable lured the woman away from her home. He then rode his bike with her and their three-year-old to a hotel.

At the hotel, the constable asked for a room, pretending the woman needed to change her clothes. Once inside, he assaulted her. After the attack, Bhagaram threatened the woman, saying he would put her husband in jail if she told anyone what happened.

Now, Bhagaram has been detained and is being questioned by the police. A medical exam is being conducted on the woman to confirm the assault and check for any signs of pregnancy.

  • Elon Musk Calls for U.S. to Exit NATO: What It Means

Elon Musk Calls for U.S. to Exit NATO: What It Means

Elon Musk, the billionaire who runs Tesla, says America should pull out of NATO. He believes it’s not fair for the U.S. to pay for protecting Europe. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), he agreed with someone who called for an immediate exit from NATO.

On March 2, Musk responded to another post that said, “It’s time to leave NATO and the UN,” and he agreed with it. His comments come just before NATO celebrates its 76th birthday in April.

According to NBC News, former President Donald Trump talked about how the U.S. should engage with NATO. He said the U.S. might only help those allies who spend a certain amount of their money on their own defense.

Trump mentioned, “If they don’t pay their bills, I won’t defend them,” which means he thinks other countries should contribute their fair share for defense.

After the Cold War, Europe reduced its military strength and now relies on the U.S. for many important things like communication and leadership in military strategies. Recently, European Union leaders had an emergency meeting to talk about increasing military spending. They discussed a big plan that includes loans of about €150 billion for defense and spending up to €650 billion over four years without penalties.

Andrius Kubilius, the EU Defense Commissioner, remarked that there has been a lot of uncertainty about what the U.S. plans to do in the future regarding NATO.

According to U.S. law, the president cannot leave NATO by himself. A two-thirds majority in the Senate or a law from Congress is required for that.

  • Aamir Khan Turns 60: Join His Film Festival Celebrating Indian Cinema

Aamir Khan Turns 60: Join His Film Festival Celebrating Indian Cinema

On March 14, movie star Aamir Khan turned 60, and to celebrate, PVR INOX announced a special film festival called “Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar.” This festival honors Aamir’s incredible work in Indian movies. The trailer for the festival was launched with special guest Javed Akhtar, a famous songwriter and screenwriter.

At the event, Aamir shared a funny story about how Javed advised him against taking on some of his biggest hits. For example, when Aamir was cast in the movie “Lagaan,” Javed told him, “What are you doing? The hero can’t wear a dhoti! How can a hero be in a period film?” Despite Javed’s doubts, Aamir decided to go ahead, and “Lagaan” became a huge success when it came out in 2001. It even got nominated for an Oscar!

Aamir also mentioned that Javed warned him about the movie “Rang De Basanti.” Javed said, “The hero isn’t even in the climax! How will it work?” But Aamir believes in putting the story first and making every film great, even if it means not being the center of attention.

“Rang De Basanti,” released in 2006, became popular and won many awards. The special film festival celebrating Aamir’s legacy will start on his birthday, March 14, and go until March 27.

  • Inside the Mind of a Successful Fund Manager: A Simple Guide

Inside the Mind of a Successful Fund Manager: A Simple Guide

I was born in Mangalore into a family that ran a business, and I’ve traveled a lot during my life. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce at Sydenham College in Mumbai and later earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from T.A. Pai Management Institute. This education helped kickstart my career in finance.

    How I Got Here

My adventure in investing began when UTI Mutual Fund hired me straight from college. At that time, I didn’t know much about how the investment world worked, but I quickly learned to love it. Over the years, I moved up from being a research analyst to a fund manager, learning about many industries from cars to big infrastructure projects. Now, I work at Bandhan AMC, where I manage different investment strategies that aim to build long-term wealth for our investors.

    Funds I Manage

    I currently manage several funds:
    – Bandhan Sterling Value Fund: AUM of Rs. 8,996 crores
    – Bandhan ELSS Tax Saver Fund: AUM of Rs. 6,232 crores
    – Bandhan Multicap Fund: AUM of Rs. 2,219 crores
    – Bandhan Multi-Asset Allocation Fund: AUM of Rs. 1,760 crores
    – Bandhan Transportation and Logistic Fund: AUM of Rs. 476 crores

(AUM data as of February 28, 2025)

    My Investment Philosophy

I believe in looking for good deals when investing. I like to buy companies that may be struggling right now but have great potential for the future. My trick is to “buy at the right price” and wait patiently for them to improve. I don’t stick to just one type of business; instead, I try to understand what each company’s true value is and what stage they’re at in their growth.

What Excites Me About Managing Money

Managing other people’s money is both an honor and a big responsibility. I enjoy finding opportunities in the market that others might miss. Watching my investment ideas grow and helping others reach their financial dreams is what makes my job so fulfilling.

  • Russian Troops Surprise Ukraine with Bold Pipeline Attack

Russian Troops Surprise Ukraine with Bold Pipeline Attack

In a surprising move, Russian special forces traveled a long distance inside a gas pipeline near Sudzha, aiming to catch Ukrainian soldiers off guard. This comes after Ukraine took control of a significant part of the Kursk region last August, which was meant to give them leverage in future talks.

Recently, Russia claimed that its troops had taken back the village of Lebedevka and a small area called Novenke in Ukraine’s Sumy region. Pro-Russian blogger Yuri Podolyaka reported that some Russian soldiers crawled for days inside the pipeline before attacking Ukrainian forces from behind.

Sudzha is a critical location for gas transfer from Russia to Europe, and Russian Telegram channels shared images of the special forces in gas masks inside the pipeline. However, Ukraine’s military said they quickly spotted the Russian soldiers and launched rocket and drone strikes to defend themselves.

Due to restrictions on what both sides can report, it’s hard to verify these accounts. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has alarmed the West, especially as U.S. President Donald Trump has recently changed America’s approach to the situation, causing fears among European leaders about Ukraine’s future in the war.

Ukraine’s previous attack on Kursk was the most serious since World War II. As the fighting continues, Russian forces are pushing back Ukrainian troops, putting many of them in danger of being surrounded. Ukrainian forces are now moving their equipment closer to the border as battles rage on in Sudzha.
