In Durg, Chhattisgarh, a six-year-old girl was sadly found dead after being hurt and attacked by her uncle. This terrible event happened on the ninth day of the ‘Navratri’ festival. The girl had gone to her grandma’s house nearby to join a celebration while her grandmother and another family member went to a temple.
While they were away, her uncle, who is 24 years old, was alone at the house. He allegedly did something very wrong to her and then took her life. To hide what he did, he put her body inside a neighbor’s car, which was often parked there, with one of its doors unlocked.
When the girl didn’t come back home later in the evening, her family started looking for her and reported her missing to the police. That night, the police found her body in the car. There were signs of injuries on her body, and a medical check confirmed that she had been hurt and attacked.
Initially, the police talked to three people, including the girl’s uncle and the car owner. They later let the other two people go but arrested the uncle when they found out he was involved. He now faces serious charges, including rape, murder, and kidnapping.
After hearing about this terrible event, people in the community got very upset. Some even damaged and set fire to the car on Sunday night. The police quickly controlled the situation and put out the fire. On Monday, the girl’s family protested outside the police station holding her body. They stopped the police from taking the suspects for a medical check-up.

Kunal Kamra Appeals to BookMyShow: A Fight for Artists’ Rights
Online ticketing platform BookMyShow has stopped selling tickets for comedian Kunal Kamra’s shows and removed him from their site. This happened after Kamra made a joke about Eknath Shinde, a politician, which upset some people. Kamra responded with an open letter to BookMyShow, asking them to either keep him listed as an artist or give him the contact info of the people who bought tickets to his shows.
Kamra understands that BookMyShow needs to work well with the government because Mumbai is a big city for entertainment. He noted that big music events would not happen without government support. However, he believes stopping him from selling tickets hurts artists like him, limiting their access to their audience.
Kamra mentioned that BookMyShow takes a 10% cut of ticket sales as part of their business model. He pointed out that all comedians have to spend money on advertising, which adds extra costs to their work. He said that it’s important for artists to have access to their audience’s information so they can keep performing and earn a living.
In his letter, Kamra also highlighted that if he is not listed, he still deserves to have access to the audience he built from his solo shows. He asked BookMyShow to either stop delisting him or share the audience information collected from his performances.
Kamra does not support boycotting private businesses and understands that BookMyShow is making decisions based on its own interests. Recently, he faced trouble after making jokes about Eknath Shinde and is currently under legal issues with the police because of his comments. -

Ongwen to Pay €52M to Victims: ICC’s Firm Ruling Explained!
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed a payment of 52 million euros for victims of Dominic Ongwen, a Ugandan warlord. Ongwen was part of a brutal group called the Lord’s Resistance Army, led by the infamous Joseph Kony, who is still on the run. Ongwen, also known as “White Ant,” is serving a 25-year prison sentence for terrible crimes like murder, rape, and sexual slavery.
Last year, ICC judges decided to award 52 million euros in damages, including 750 euros for almost 50,000 victims of his actions. Although Ongwen appealed against this decision, an ICC appeals court rejected his claim, as stated by Judge Solomy Balungi Bossa from Uganda. Ongwen participated in the court hearing via video link, wearing a dark suit and red tie.
Ongwen was kidnapped and forced to be a child soldier at just nine years old. His case raises questions about the responsibility of children who are taken from their homes. The Lord’s Resistance Army has been active for around 30 years, aiming to create a country based on the Ten Commandments while causing death and destruction. They have been responsible for over 100,000 deaths and the abduction of 60,000 children across Uganda and beyond.
The ICC found that Ongwen personally led his troops in attacking refugee camps and killing civilians between 2002 and 2005. Although the court recognized that he was once a helpless child, they said this does not excuse his actions as an adult. A special fund will handle the payments to the victims since Ongwen is currently in a Norwegian prison and can’t pay them himself.
In 2015, Ongwen gave himself up to U.S. forces after they were searching for Kony. He was then sent to the ICC to face trial. An upcoming hearing is scheduled for September 9 to announce charges against Kony, who is being tried in absentia. -
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Faces Chaos Over Waqf Bill Dispute
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly turned chaotic on Monday because of loud arguments and shouting after the Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, refused to allow a discussion on the Waqf (Amendment) Act. The National Conference (NC) wanted to talk about the law, saying it was important to their religion, but the Speaker said they couldn’t because the matter is in court.
Members of NC, Congress, and Independents wanted to hold a special discussion, but the Leader of the House from BJP, Sunil Sharma, disagreed, saying that the law is very important to their faith. This disagreement caused yelling, slogans, and even some members tearing up paper in protest.
As the situation escalated, NC and Congress members started shouting against the BJP while BJP members responded with their own slogans. The chaos reached a point where the Speaker had to adjourn the House for the day.
Outside the Assembly, members of NC, Congress, and CPI-M protested, saying that they should be allowed to speak about the issue, especially since the Tamil Nadu Assembly had passed a resolution about it. Some members argued that the bill threatens the idea of equality among different religions.
President Droupadi Murmu had recently approved the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which had been debated in Parliament just days earlier.

Pakistan Stock Exchange Plummets: Shocking Fall Leaves Investors Shocked
On Monday, trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stopped for an hour because the KSE-100 index dropped by over 8,000 points. Financial experts say this huge drop happened due to worries about a possible global recession.
When trading resumed after the break, the market fell by an additional 2,000 points, leading to an all-time high loss of 8,600 points in one day. The index ended the day at 114,909.48, a decline of 3,882.18 points or 3.27% from the previous closing.
Uzma Khan, a financial expert from Arif Habib Securities, explained that automatic circuit breakers are in place to help prevent panic selling. These break periods allow investors to pause and think during times of extreme market changes. She noted that many investors are anxious about a global recession, especially after the United States raised tariffs and other countries responded.
Before trading was stopped, the KSE-100 index had already dropped by 6,287.22 points, or 5.29%, by 11:58 am. When trading started again, the index dropped even further, going down by a total of 8,687.69 points, or 7.31%, to reach 110,103.97 by 1:15 pm. By 2:02 pm, the index was back up slightly to 113,154.63 but was still down by 5,637.03 points or 4.75% from the end of the last day.

Turkey’s Defense Plans Face Israeli Air Strikes in Syria
Turkey has been checking out at least three air bases in Syria where it could send its military forces. This was part of a plan to work together with other nations in defense, but Israel bombed these bases this week. This air attack shows the increasing tension between Turkey and Israel, especially now that Islamist rebels have taken over Syria after getting rid of the old leader, Bashar al-Assad, in December.
Israel is worried about the Islamist group near its border, which has led it to ask the United States to limit Turkey’s influence in Syria. Turkey has always supported those opposing Assad and wants to play a significant role in the new Syria. This involvement might include setting up new Turkish bases in the center of Syria and using its airspace.
Recently, Turkish military teams visited the T4 and Palmyra bases in Syria. They looked at the condition of the runways and hangars to prepare for military plans. However, a visit meant to happen on March 25 was called off because Israel attacked the bases just hours before.
After these strikes, the T4 air base was badly damaged, making it unusable. An intelligence official mentioned that the airstrikes were a clear warning from Israel that it wouldn’t accept an increased Turkish presence in Syria. When asked about the visits, a Turkish defense official said that unofficial reports shouldn’t be trusted as they might be misleading.
Turkey’s foreign ministry stressed that Israel is the biggest threat to regional security, but Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said they didn’t want to confront Israel in Syria. In the months since Assad’s fall, Israel has taken control of areas in southwest Syria and damaged a lot of military equipment there. The recent Israeli strikes were among the most severe to date.
Syria’s foreign ministry stated that Israel hit multiple places, leading to significant destruction and many injuries. Israeli leaders warned that these actions are for ensuring the nation’s safety. Some experts believe Israel fears that Turkey may set up military systems that could challenge its air superiority in the area.
Turkey has been trying to assure the U.S. that it wants peace and stability in Syria. Fidan told U.S. officials that the new Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa won’t be a threat to neighbors. Turkish officials have been considering how to proceed without upsetting the U.S.
One Turkish official noted that Turkey would suffer the most if Syria became unstable. A researcher stated that while Turkey and Israel have different views, they could avoid military conflict by discussing it with the U.S.

Bengaluru’s Women Safety Crisis: Minister’s Controversial Remarks Spark Outrage
Karnataka’s home minister, G Parameshwara, caused a stir recently by saying that sexual harassment incidents happen often in big cities. This statement came after a video went viral showing a woman being groped in Bengaluru’s BTM layout late at night last week. The video, taken with a CCTV camera, showed two women walking in an alley when a man, who seemed to be following them, suddenly approached, attacked one of them, and then ran away.
The incident happened at around 1:52 am on April 3, and has raised major concerns about women’s safety in the city. Although the women have not reported the case, the Bengaluru police are taking action on their own. They have filed charges against the attacker under a law that punishes anyone who tries to disrobe a woman.
Sexual harassment is a serious issue in Bengaluru. Just this January, a 24-year-old woman was harassed by two men who jumped into her cab as she was getting in. The men first fought with the cab driver, and when the woman tried to escape, one of them grabbed her neck while the other tried to rip her clothes off. She screamed for help, and luckily, the men ran away.
Authorities have promised to increase police patrols to keep women safer in the city and take necessary legal actions against such crimes. -
Trump’s Visa Revocation Hits California Students Amid Protests
The Trump administration has canceled the visas of more than 30 international students and recent graduates from various schools in California. This action is part of President Trump’s effort to deport international students who have participated in pro-Palestine protests.
Some of the affected schools include Stanford University and several campuses of the University of California (UC) system. School officials say that their communities are impacted by these visa cancellations, which began when Columbia University alum Mahmoud Khalil was detained last month.
At Stanford, four students and two recent graduates lost their visas. The university said they will help these students by providing legal assistance. Around 35 students and alumni from other state universities are also facing visa issues.
The University of California stated that the situation is changing constantly. They are keeping an eye on how it affects their schools and the students involved. The UC community is committed to supporting its members as they exercise their rights.
At UC Berkeley, two undergraduates, two graduate students, and two alumni had their visas revoked. UC San Diego lost five students, while 12 individuals tied to UC Davis were also affected. UC Davis mentioned that the federal government hasn’t explained why these visa terminations happened, causing worry among students.
UCLA has six students whose visas have also been canceled, with UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk reassuring the campus community. He said that these actions can cause a lot of uncertainty and anxiety, and pledged support for immigrant and international students, staff, and faculty.
