There’s drama brewing between former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. According to reports, Trump’s team is really upset with Musk, who criticized Trump’s big $500 billion deal to create new technology in artificial intelligence (AI). Trump called the deal “amazing” and “huge,” but Musk used his social media platform, X, to speak negatively about it.
One of Trump’s friends said that Musk has too much influence over Trump but that Trump can’t really control him. Some political insiders think Musk and Trump will eventually have a falling out. Trump claims he isn’t worried about Musk’s comments, explaining that Musk “hates one of the people involved in the deal.”
Musk has had a lot of access to Trump, especially since they have spent time together at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Musk even leads Trump’s so-called “Department of Government Efficiency.” However, some of Trump’s allies wish Musk would keep his distance now that Trump is back in office.
Musk is doubting whether the funding for the $500 billion project will actually happen. Even though he runs his own AI startup, he didn’t attend the event where Trump announced the deal called “Stargate.” Some big companies like OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle are supposed to help fund it. Musk is skeptical and believes that these companies might not have enough money. He pointed out that SoftBank has less than $10 billion secured for the project, which he claims to know for sure. On the other hand, Musk thinks Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, does have enough money for AI investments.
