New Delhi [India], December 24 (ANI): Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated on Tuesday that the best way to resolve the controversy surrounding remarks made about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by Union Home Minister Amit Shah is for Shah to be removed from his position and apologize to the country.

During a press conference, Ramesh pointed out that for the last week, the Congress party has been holding ‘Ambedkar Samman’ Week, with more than 100 press conferences taking place across different locations. This is a response to what they believe was an insult to Ambedkar by Shah on December 17. Ramesh mentioned that meetings are currently happening in every district, and they are preparing a document to send to the President.

According to reports, Amit Shah had said in the Rajya Sabha that if the opposition talked about God instead of Ambedkar, they would be rewarded in heaven for many lives. After this statement, there were protests both inside and outside Parliament. This led to chaos, with two BJP members, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, getting hurt.

The BJP members were protesting against the Congress, accusing them of insulting Ambedkar. Meanwhile, the INDIA Bloc MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, staged a protest demanding Amit Shah’s resignation for his comments.

During the protests, both sides claimed that their members were mistreated, and an FIR has been filed against Rahul Gandhi by the Delhi police about the events that transpired

On Monday, the Congress party criticized the Modi government for the rising prices of food. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh pointed out that while the bullet train promised by the government hasn’t arrived yet, inflation is skyrocketing faster than the train. He mentioned that everyday items like flour, oil, and spices have become 1.5 to 2 times more expensive over the past year.

Ramesh highlighted that inflation has doubled and tripled in the last ten years, making essential goods like vegetables, milk, and cooking oil unaffordable for many families. He asked if this was the “good days” that were promised to the public. The Congress party insists that people want real answers, not just empty promises. They have been criticizing the government for not managing the economy well and for the rising unemployment and prices.

A man from Canada, Auldin Maxwell, has just set a new world record by stacking an incredible 1,840 Jenga blocks on top of one single block! This amazing achievement will be featured in the Guinness World Records 2025 book.

Auldin’s big attempt took place in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. He worked really hard to create this tall stack, which ended up being 43 inches high, 11 inches wide, and 11 inches deep. This new record beats his old one of 1,400 blocks—a goal he was eager to surpass.

Ambassa (Tripura): On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah opened and started several development projects in Tripura worth ₹668 crore (about 86 million dollars). One key project is the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI), which aims to make the northeastern region safer.

During a gathering in Ambassa, Shah explained that the Indian government helped bring peace to Tripura by signing agreements with rebel groups and the Bru Reang community. Now, he says, Tripura is growing and moving towards development.

At a meeting in Shillong, a recommendation was made to create a research center to study the unique security issues in the northeastern region. The government has set aside a 9.57-acre land in Jirania, West Tripura, for the new institute. They have also approved ₹120 crore for building the necessary infrastructure. A digital survey of the land has already been completed.

The CDTI in Tripura will train over 6,000 police personnel every year, including those from northeastern states and the central armed police forces (CAPFs). The institute will feature modern facilities, such as advanced classrooms, simulation labs, and practical training spaces to equip police with the latest skills.

It will provide high-level training and research on important issues like internal security, border management, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling. The CDTI in Agartala will not only improve police training but also encourage international cooperation to tackle cross-border security problems.

Hubballi: BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai, who was also the Chief Minister of Karnataka, criticized the Congress party on Sunday, saying that it is close to falling apart. This comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah made controversial remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a key figure in India’s Constitution. Bommai claimed that Congress used to humiliate Ambedkar, which led him to resign from the government back in the day when Jawaharlal Nehru was Prime Minister.

“Congress is about to collapse because their past mistakes are coming back to haunt them,” Bommai told reporters. “They treated Babasaheb Ambedkar poorly, and now they are trying to cover up their bad reputation. It’s well known that Congress was disrespectful to him, and that’s why he left the national government.” Bommai challenged Congress to be honest with people, or they would soon be forgotten by the voters.

In a response to Amit Shah’s comments, Ajay Rai, who is the Congress president in Uttar Pradesh, accused Shah of disrespecting Dr. Ambedkar by not using terms like ‘ji’ or ‘Babasaheb,’ which are respectful ways to refer to him. Rai said this shows Shah has no respect for Ambedkar or for Dalits. “The way Amit Shah spoke about Ambedkar was disrespectful. This shows he is not in support of Ambedkar’s ideas or the Constitution,” Rai added.

Congress MP KC Venugopal shared that their party leaders will hold press conferences on December 22 and 23 to discuss Shah’s remarks. On December 24, they plan to march and deliver a letter to the district collector, asking for Amit Shah to resign. “Amit Shah’s comments attack the Constitution and democracy,” said Venugopal.

After Shah’s remarks, there were protests in Parliament, with members from both the ruling party and the opposition clashing. Reports say a few BJP MPs got hurt during this chaos. Ruling party MPs protested against Congress for insulting Ambedkar, while Rahul Gandhi and other Congress members demanded Shah’s resignation. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also mentioned he was pushed by BJP MPs while trying to enter Parliament during the protests.

AIMIM leader Imtiyaz Jaleel and 49 other people have been charged for protesting without permission in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. They demonstrated at Paithan Gate against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments about Dr. B R Ambedkar made in Parliament. The police said the protest happened during a curfew and didn’t have the necessary approvals. A case has been filed under certain laws, but no one has been arrested yet.

Delhi’s Chief Minister, Atishi, has said that the people of Delhi trust Arvind Kejriwal to solve the city’s problems. The elections for the Delhi Assembly will happen in 2025. Kejriwal, who is also the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a liquor policy case.

During a visit to Rangpuri Pahari, Atishi thanked the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, for bringing the issue to their attention and asked him to tell them about any problems in the city. She assured locals that the AAP government would work hard to fix all their concerns.

“People believe Arvind Kejriwal can help them, and we will fix every issue they face,” Atishi said after talking with residents.

At the same time, the Delhi unit of the BJP is preparing for the upcoming elections. They have set up a State Election Committee but haven’t announced their list of candidates yet. AAP recently introduced another group of candidates for the elections.

In a recent act of political movement, BJP leader Ramesh Pehalwan and his wife joined AAP on December 15 and were welcomed by Kejriwal. In the last Assembly elections in 2020, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP got 8. The next elections are expected to take place in early 2025.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started a big membership drive in Jharkhand on Sunday. Babulal Marandi, the BJP leader in Jharkhand, opened the drive in Khoron village, Giridih district. Marandi shared on social media that many people signed up to join the party during a special workshop held there.

The membership drive is happening in over 5,600 places across the state. The BJP aims to add around 60 lakh new members since they got more than 59 lakh votes in the recent assembly elections. BJP workers will visit villages and neighborhoods to encourage more people to join the party.

Senior BJP leader Amar Kumar Bauri noted that supporters can also sign up online through a website link or call a toll-free number. After this initial drive, a more active membership campaign will occur from January 2 to January 15. Following this, the party will set up booth-level committees from February 1 to February 10, create Mandal committees from February 20 to February 25, and finalize district committees by the end of February.

The BJP launched this nationwide membership drive on September 2 but paused it in some states, including Jharkhand, during elections.

Nagpur, Maharashtra – On Saturday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that he and his team will share their job responsibilities soon. Speaking at a press conference after a week-long meeting of the Maharashtra legislature, he said that they expect to decide who gets which roles either later that day or by Sunday.

Earlier, Minister Bharat Gogawale mentioned that they planned to allocate the jobs within the day. Fadnavis, along with his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, took their oaths on December 5, while 39 other ministers joined them just before the Winter Session started on December 15.

Although the Mahayuti government is now in place, the assignment of roles is still pending. The Mahayuti, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party, had a great win in the assembly elections held on November 20, securing 230 out of 288 seats.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut spoke to the media on Saturday, saying that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is lying about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Raut claims that Fadnavis has falsely accused Gandhi’s Yatra of supporting groups that promote violence and unrest.

Raut mentioned recent issues in Maharashtra, like violence in Parbhani over damage done to a replica of the Indian Constitution, and the tragic murder of a village leader in Beed. He questioned Fadnavis’s understanding of who the real Naxals are.

Fadnavis has claimed that some organizations linked to Gandhi’s Yatra are harming democracy and encouraging “Urban Naxalism.” In response, Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole defended Gandhi, stating that the Congress Party has never engaged in any activities against the law. He remembered the sacrifices of past leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi for the nation.

Patole wrote to Chief Minister Fadnavis, asking him to share which organizations he was talking about. He emphasized that many social groups work for the good of the state and support democracy. He concluded by affirming that Congress is committed to helping people and has always promoted peace.
