Car Accident in Karnataka: 20-Year-Old Killed, Four Injured

A tragic car accident happened in Karnataka, where a 20-year-old man lost his life and four others got hurt. This terrible event took place early on a Monday morning along a highway near Kattihosahalli.

Police say the driver was going very fast when he hit a road divider. The car flew into the air and rolled over more than four times before landing on its side. Reports say the impact was so strong that two people flew out of the car and landed on the road.

A video of the accident started circulating on social media, showing the car coming in fast, hitting the divider, sliding for a bit, and then flipping over. After rolling over several times, the car finally stopped on its side.

The driver, identified as Mohammad Yunus, sadly died from his injuries after getting medical help. The other four passengers were hurt and are now getting treated at the hospital. They were traveling from Dharwad to Vijayapura when the accident occurred.

Just a few days before this, another serious accident happened in Madhya Pradesh, where six people from Karnataka were killed when their speeding jeep hit a bus after losing control.

  • Love, Loss, and Legacy: What Will We Be Remembered For?

Love, Loss, and Legacy: What Will We Be Remembered For?

It’s just a few months into the New Year, and I’ve already attended two weddings and two funerals. Watching these events close together made me think about love and death. They are more connected than we might realize.

One of the funerals was for my uncle. Listening to people share their memories of him was touching. They spoke about how kind he was, how curious he was about the world, and how he treated everyone, from politicians to everyday folks, with respect. This got me pondering: what will people say about you when you’re gone? What would they remember about you at your memorial service? This brings up an important question: who are you, and how do you show yourself to the world?

From what I’ve seen lately at funerals, it seems like people remember your character more than your job. Unless you’ve invented something groundbreaking, how you treated others really matters. At memorials, people often talk about being kind, warm, funny, and honest. These are the qualities that make us human.

As we get older, many people embrace their quirks. They’ve stopped pretending to be someone they’re not. In a way, meeting older folks can be refreshing because they show you the beauty of being real and authentic.

But can you be genuine in your forties or fifties without waiting until you’re older? It’s tough because life is full of roles—we are siblings, parents, and friends all at once. Each role has its own expectations. Sometimes you have to hold back what you really feel just to keep the peace.

Recently, I had a thought: maybe I should tell my mother how much she means to me. When I suggested this to my husband, he said, “That’s not my style. I show love in small ways.”

This brings up a larger question: do our loved ones know how we feel? We often tell our kids how much we love them, but what about our parents? My mother, who is now 86, doesn’t say “I love you,” but her love shines through her actions. For example, when I mention writing about sarees, she asks others for tips, showing that she cares about what I do.

As we just celebrated Valentine’s Day and are approaching Holi, which both honor love, it’s a good moment to think about expressing love for those we might overlook: our parents.

  • Musk’s Ultimatum Causes Resignations and Job Fears in Government

Musk’s Ultimatum Causes Resignations and Job Fears in Government

On Tuesday, federal workers found themselves in a tricky situation after Elon Musk gave them a new chance to explain their jobs. He warned that if they couldn’t justify their roles, they might lose their jobs. This message confused many workers because previous guidance said responding was optional.

Some workers, who had enough of the uncertainty, chose to leave their jobs. Twenty-one employees from Musk’s newly renamed Department of Government Efficiency (originally the U.S. Digital Service) quit in protest. They felt it was wrong to use their tech skills to cut important government services.

Musk sent an email to all workers asking them to summarize what they did in the past week, but as the deadline approached, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) told workers they didn’t have to respond. Musk, however, responded by saying that ignoring the email would count as quitting. He later said workers would get another chance to reply, and if they didn’t, they might face termination.

Even within the Trump administration, there was confusion about what to do. Some department heads encouraged workers to wait before replying, while others pushed them to respond. The White House press secretary insisted everyone was working together, even though reports suggested that there were disagreements among Trump loyalists.

As the chaos continued, the OPM planned to cut down its staff, reducing the number from 64 to just under a dozen people. Musk’s efforts to cut jobs extended beyond OPM; more than 20,000 workers have already lost their jobs, with many more likely facing layoffs.

The IRS was also warned to prepare for more job cuts soon. Musk’s close advisor even told IRS leaders that he believed fewer employees would be enough to carry out the agency’s tasks. The Department of Interior received orders to reduce its workforce by as much as 40%. The situation is creating a lot of stress for federal workers, emphasizing the real possibility of widespread layoffs across various agencies.

Odisha School: Teenage Girl Gives Birth, Police Investigate Rape

In Malkangiri, Odisha, a sad situation has come to light. A 15-year-old girl, a student at a state-run residential school, gave birth on the rooftop of her hostel just hours after taking her annual exams. The girl, who is in Class 10, was living at a school meant for children from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

She has now been moved to a nearby hospital for care. The school’s headmaster, Ajit Madkami, stated that the warden and a nurse should be held responsible because they checked on the girls, but didn’t notice the girl was pregnant. “They come to the hostel once a week for health checks. I’m not sure how this happened,” he said.

The girl’s father was worried too. A teacher had called him to come to the school, and when he got there, he found out that his daughter had given birth. He mentioned that the girls usually stay in the hostel and don’t go home often. “How did no one know she was pregnant?” he asked.

Local police officer Pradosh Pradhan announced that they have filed a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other laws concerning rape. They are working to arrest the man accused of the crime, who is 22 years old and from a nearby village.

In Odisha, there are over 158,000 girls studying in schools run by the state. Since 2010, 21 similar pregnancy cases have been reported, making this the first one in 2023.

To prevent these incidents, the state government has assigned 3,000 caregivers and 336 health workers to check on the students frequently. They are also conducting regular health check-ups. Strict rules are now in place so that no male person can enter the hostel without a woman present.

A 2021 report showed that many hostels lacked proper security and safety measures, with 70% having no boundary walls.

  • CBSE to Hold Class 10 Board Exams Twice Yearly from 2026

CBSE to Hold Class 10 Board Exams Twice Yearly from 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that starting in 2026, students in Class 10 will take their board exams two times a year! This means more chances to succeed!

The first test will happen from February 17 to March 6, and the second one will be from May 5 to May 20. Good news for students: they will go to the same exam center for both tests!

Both exams will cover the full syllabus, which means students need to study everything they learned throughout the year. There will be a small fee to pay for each exam when students sign up.

An important change is that these two exams will also count as backup options. If a student does not do well in the first exam, they can try again in the second one. So, no special supplementary exams will be held.

This change is a part of the new National Education Policy (NEP) which aims to make exams less stressful for students. According to this policy, students can take the exams up to two times during the school year!

  • Indian Army Chief’s Visit to France: Enhancing Defense Cooperation

Indian Army Chief’s Visit to France: Enhancing Defense Cooperation

The Indian Army’s top leader, General Upendra Dwivedi, went to Marseille, France, on February 24. He learned about France’s Scorpion program, which is improving the French Army’s fighting tools and techniques, making them stronger for the future.

During his four-day visit, he talked about how both countries can work better together in defense and sharing new ideas. In Carpiagne, he will watch soldiers practice their firing skills to improve their readiness.

On February 27, General Dwivedi will pay respect to Indian soldiers who fought in World War I at the Neuve Chapelle memorial. He will also speak at the École de Guerre, the French military college, and discuss new ways of fighting and India’s view on safety.

This visit follows Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to France earlier in February, where both nations agreed to work together on safe new technologies like artificial intelligence.

Additionally, India is planning to buy 26 new Rafale-M fighter jets for its aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and three more Scorpene-class submarines to improve naval strength. The Rafale-M jets will cost around ₹50,000 crore. These fighters will help India, especially against challenges posed by China in the Indian Ocean.

The submarines will be built in Mumbai and will add to India’s power in the ocean region, ensuring safety and security. So far, six submarines have already been built through a previous deal with France.

Both countries are also looking for more ways to work together to build and design military equipment, strengthening their defense relationships even more.

  • Hundreds Mourn Kibbutz Leader Oded Lifshitz After Hamas Captivity

Hundreds Mourn Kibbutz Leader Oded Lifshitz After Hamas Captivity

On Tuesday, many people gathered at the small cemetery in Kibbutz Nir Oz to say their final goodbye to Oded Lifshitz, one of the kibbutz’s founders. He died while being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. On Thursday, Hamas returned his body to Israel as part of a ceasefire agreement that paused the fighting in Gaza. Along with Lifshitz, the bodies of three other residents from Nir Oz, Shiri Bibas and her two young sons, were also returned recently. They will be buried on Wednesday.

Oded Lifshitz was 83 years old when he was taken hostage during Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023. His wife, Yocheved, who is 85, was also kidnapped but was freed after 18 days.

During the funeral, his wife and family spoke about him, and Israeli President Isaac Herzog also shared his thoughts. He asked Lifshitz and his family for forgiveness for not being able to protect them and bring them home safely.

Famous Israeli artists performed at the ceremony. Hen Avigdori, whose wife and daughter were taken hostage but later released, expressed his sadness, saying Lifshitz should be alive with them.

Lifshitz was a respected journalist who fought for Palestinian rights. He worked for Al Hamishmar, a left-leaning newspaper, and reported on important issues over his long career. In the past, he defended the rights of Bedouins in Sinai and reported on the tragic events during the Lebanese civil war.

The Bibas family, especially the two young boys, Kfir (just 9 months old) and Ariel (4 years old), became symbols of the suffering of hostages since the war in Gaza started. Hamas took 251 hostages during the October 7 attack, and, sadly, 62 are still being held in Gaza today.

  • Jailed Conman Proposes $2 Billion Investment in Elon Musk’s X

Jailed Conman Proposes $2 Billion Investment in Elon Musk’s X

Sukesh Chandrashekhar, a conman in a Delhi jail, has said he wants to invest $2 billion in Elon Musk’s company, X (formerly known as Twitter). In a letter to Musk, he wrote, “I am ready to invest $1 billion right now and another $1 billion next year, making it a total of $2 billion.” He added that if this investment happens, he would be a “proud Indian.”

Sukesh also praised Musk, calling him “my man” and congratulating him on his role in a new U.S. government department called DOGE, which stands for Department of Government Efficiency. He referred to former U.S. President Donald Trump as his “big brother.”

In the letter, he expressed admiration for Musk, saying, “You are solid, Tankman, and Bulletproof. What you’ve built is amazing. Being a part of that would be incredible for me.”

This isn’t the first time Sukesh has written letters from prison. He has contacted many famous people before, like Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandes and ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier this month, he also wrote to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, offering to invest $1 billion at first and an extra $2 billion over five years for OpenAI’s work in India. He urged Sam to accept his offer, saying, “Why should the big boys always have the fun? Just take my money!”

  • Nifty 50 Dips 14%: Key Insights and Future Predictions Unveiled

Nifty 50 Dips 14%: Key Insights and Future Predictions Unveiled

The Nifty 50, a group of the biggest companies in India, has fallen 14% from its highest point of 26,277.35 in September 2024. This decline is due to several reasons, including disappointing earnings from companies, foreign investors pulling out money, and rising tensions in global trade.

Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has lowered its target for the Nifty 50 index from 27,172 to 25,689. They pointed out that more companies are cutting their profit forecasts, with 30 stocks now expecting lower earnings compared to 21 in February 2024. They also noticed a 4.8% drop in the index since January.

The economy is feeling pressure from several factors: people are buying less, the Indian currency (rupee) is weakening, and there are worries about political issues, especially after President Trump won re-election in the U.S. India’s trade deficit is predicted to exceed $250 billion, and foreign investments are at a 17-year low.

As a result, the brokerage has reduced its expectations for earnings growth in the Nifty from 0.8% to 2.6% for the next few years. They expect more ups and downs in the market for a while but believe things may improve because of falling inflation and possible tax cuts.

Foreign investors have taken out $8.2 billion from Indian markets this year, making it tough for India to manage its financial needs. The rupee might fall even more, with predictions it could hit 88.50 per dollar by the end of FY25.

However, there are still good opportunities in areas like infrastructure, healthcare, and tourism. Some of the firms they recommend include ABB India, ICICI Bank, and Maruti Suzuki. They expect the Nifty to be valued at around 25,689 in the next 12 months but think it could go as high as 27,041 or drop to 24,337 depending on the economy.

  • Trump and Musk Endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio Governor

Trump and Musk Endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio Governor

Former President Donald Trump has shown his support for biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who is running for governor in Ohio. Trump praised Ramaswamy on Truth Social, saying he is “Young, Strong, and Smart!” and believes he will be an “GREAT Governor” who will never let Ohioans down. Trump claims to know Ramaswamy well, stating, “I competed against him, and he is something special.”

Ramaswamy aims to make Ohio the “top state in the country” and officially started his campaign on Monday. This endorsement comes as a surprise since Trump previously criticized him during the Republican primaries earlier this year, saying Ramaswamy was “not MAGA” and accused him of using “deceitful campaign tricks.”

Ramaswamy’s decision to run for governor follows his departure from the company DOGE. He said leaving was a mutual decision, but there were rumors that Elon Musk forced him out.

Many users on social media reacted positively to Trump’s endorsement, with some praising Ramaswamy’s qualities and expressing confidence he will win in Ohio. Ramaswamy thanked Trump for his support, saying, “We’re behind you all the way & we will Make Ohio Great Again!”

In addition, Elon Musk, head of DOGE, also endorsed Ramaswamy, wishing him luck on social media. Ramaswamy responded to Musk with “Elon, thank you. Let’s roll!”

Ramaswamy’s main political adviser will be JD Vance, who is a former U.S. Senator from Ohio. At a rally in Cincinnati, Ramaswamy said he plans to make Ohio the best place to start and grow a business, promising to cut unnecessary regulations
