Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy: Leading India to ICC Champions Trophy Glory

Virender Sehwag, a former Indian cricket star, praised Rohit Sharma for his amazing captaincy in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Thanks to Rohit’s leadership, India won two important ICC titles in just nine months—something no other Indian captain has done before. This makes Rohit the second Indian captain, after MS Dhoni, to win both the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. With these victories, Rohit joins the ranks of the most successful cricket captains in history.

Rohit has transformed Indian cricket by encouraging a bold style of play. His aggressive batting during the early overs of matches inspired his teammates and helped India perform brilliantly in various ICC tournaments. In the Champions Trophy final, he scored an important 76 runs, helping India secure victory over New Zealand.

Sehwag, who was part of the leadership team when MS Dhoni was captain, highlighted Rohit’s strong management skills. He noted how well Rohit communicated with his players, even those who weren’t chosen to play. “We often overlook how good he is as a captain. After winning these two trophies, he has become the second Indian captain to win multiple ICC titles after MS Dhoni. Rohit has done a great job of using his bowlers and managing the team,” Sehwag said, speaking on Cricbuzz.

Rohit has led India to only one loss in their last three ICC events, which was the 2023 World Cup final against Australia. Sehwag also pointed out that Rohit makes sure every player feels secure and valued in the team, which he believes is key to good leadership. “He focuses more on his team rather than himself. He helps players feel comfortable because he knows that insecurity can affect their performance. This is what makes Rohit Sharma a fantastic captain,” Sehwag concluded.

He shared this information in the state assembly during a discussion. The minister also mentioned that there are no plans to increase the money given for food and clothes for police constables. However, police officers can take more days off than regular government workers.

The minister promised that the government is serious about keeping the state safe and has already given 112 new vehicles with modern tools to police stations. Earlier, when asked by MLA Bhaira Ram Chaudhary, he also said there are no plans to give a risk allowance of Rs 5000 to all police officers in addition to their hard duty pay.

Jaipur School’s Holi Ban: Safety or Controversy? Here’s What Happened

A private school in Jaipur, St. Angela Sophia School, has sparked controversy for telling students not to bring colors or celebrate Holi at school. Rajasthan’s education minister, Madan Dilawar, criticized this decision and wanted the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to take action. He said Holi is an important festival in India and it’s sad that students were warned they might not be allowed to take exams if they celebrated.

After receiving backlash, the school’s principal, Sister Cynthia, explained that the rule was meant to protect students from synthetic and chemical colors, which can cause allergies or harm. She assured everyone that Holi would still be celebrated at the school on March 12, after exams, using only natural colors and flowers.

Sister Cynthia emphasized that the main goal was to keep students safe during exam season. She stated, “We want our students to enjoy Holi without any risks. Our celebration will be safe, using flowers instead of harmful colors.”

Holi is celebrated in the month of Phalgun, with Choti Holi on March 13 and the main celebration on March 14.

  • Exciting Eco-Friendly Cruises Coming to the Yamuna River

Exciting Eco-Friendly Cruises Coming to the Yamuna River

Get ready for a fun and eco-friendly way to explore the Yamuna River! Soon, a 4-kilometre area between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur will welcome exciting river cruises using electric and solar-powered boats. The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and the Delhi government are teaming up to make this happen, with an official agreement expected to be signed soon.

    Enjoy a Green Adventure!

These new boats will hold 20 to 30 passengers and will come with special features like bio-toilets, safety life jackets, and systems to make announcements. They are designed for safety and comfort so everyone can have a great experience. To help with smooth boarding, two new jetties will be built.

An IWAI official said, “This project is all about boosting tourism and creating a new, fun river experience for everyone.” The aim is to turn the area between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur into a popular spot for visitors while keeping it eco-friendly.

Working Together for a Great Outcome

This exciting plan involves multiple government groups. The agreement will include the IWAI, the Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the Delhi Jal Board, and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Together, they hope to make this part of the Yamuna a favorite place for tourists and locals alike while keeping it safe for the environment.

This area is part of National Waterway (NW) 110, which is just above the Wazirabad Barrage. The project aims to encourage short boat trips and fun activities on the water, making it easier for both visitors and residents to enjoy the river.

    Turning Dreams Into Reality

The idea of water transportation on the Yamuna has been around for a while. Back in 2018, a plan for water taxis was proposed, covering a longer stretch from Wazirabad to Fatehpur Jat. However, some environmental issues raised concerns, so the project was reviewed. In 2017, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) suggested looking into the ecological impact on Delhi’s main drinking water supply.

Despite these challenges, interest in water transport remained strong. Last September, IWAI invited businesses to show interest in operating ferry services along an 8-kilometre loop between Sonia Vihar and the Wazirabad Barrage. The boats need to be electric or solar, be able to carry 20 to 30 passengers, and travel at a speed of 5 to 7 knots.

A Step Towards a Cleaner Future

Officials believe this project will change tourism in Delhi for the better. An IWAI official said, “It will improve tourism by providing sustainable travel options.” By using clean energy boats, this initiative aims to reduce pollution and offer a cool alternative to regular transportation. If this project is successful, it might lead to even more river-based transportation ideas, connecting waterways into Delhi’s tourism and transport network. When these cruises start, they’ll provide beautiful views and show that Delhi is committed to being green and modern!

  • Gangster Aman Sao Shot Dead During Attempted Escape in Jharkhand

Gangster Aman Sao Shot Dead During Attempted Escape in Jharkhand

Gangster Aman Sao was shot and killed during a police encounter while his gang tried to rescue him in Jharkhand’s Palamu district. This happened on a Tuesday morning, just after the state’s police chief, Anurag Gupta, said many crimes in Jharkhand are planned and carried out by gangs from inside jails.

Sao, who was connected to over 150 cases, was being transported from Raipur jail in Chhattisgarh to Ranchi for an NIA investigation when his gang attacked the police vehicle near Chainpur. They used a bomb and started shooting. In the chaos, Sao grabbed a police officer’s rifle and fired back at the police, who shot him in self-defense. Unfortunately, another police officer got hurt in the process.

After the shootout, other gang members ran away. The injured officer was taken to the hospital for treatment. The police stopped cars from moving in the area, and an ambulance was called to collect Sao’s body for a postmortem examination.

The police chief confirmed that Sao, also called Aman Sahu, was being brought in connection with a serious case. Senior police officials arrived on the scene, and the event was discussed in the Jharkhand Assembly, with a member calling for a report on the incident. The police chief had recently mentioned that some gangsters, including Sao, are still operating from inside prisons, and efforts are ongoing to stop these activities.

They are investigating and hope to arrest more members of Sao’s gang soon, as they have already filed an FIR against 30 of them.

  • Youth Violence in Kerala: Understanding the Growing Problem

Youth Violence in Kerala: Understanding the Growing Problem

Thiruvananthapuram – In a recent meeting, Kerala’s Excise Minister, M B Rajesh, explained that many young people, including students, have developed a growing problem with violence. He mentioned that violence is becoming like a drug to them, with many showing what he called a “sadistic mindset,” meaning they find pleasure in causing harm to others.

When asked about how schools are teaching kids about the dangers of alcohol and drugs, Rajesh said that the problem isn’t just about drugs; it’s also that many kids are turning to violence for excitement. He pointed out that popular web series, movies, and social media are contributing to this increase in violent behavior.

To help combat this issue, the Sports Minister, V Abdurahiman, announced that starting May 1, there will be a large anti-drug campaign across the state. This campaign will show students that sports can be a fun alternative to drugs. The minister asked all local leaders to pitch in and help make this campaign successful.

Rajesh stressed that we need to work together to find solutions. He mentioned that there’s a problem of “apoliticalism,” meaning that there aren’t strong groups to hold accountable for the violence. To tackle these issues, student and youth groups should join the efforts to reduce drug use and violence.

The government is taking actions like forming committees in schools to keep an eye on things and creating easy-to-read materials that teach students about the harm caused by drugs. These materials will also be used in school textbooks so that kids learn about these risks all year long.

  • Controversy Over Yogi Adityanath’s Image at Pro-Monarchy Rally in Nepal

Controversy Over Yogi Adityanath’s Image at Pro-Monarchy Rally in Nepal

A big argument happened in Nepal when some photos of Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, were shown at a rally that celebrated the former king, Gyanendra Shah. This rally took place at Tribhuvan International Airport when Gyanendra arrived from Pokhara after visiting places of worship. Many supporters, including leaders from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), came together to show they want the monarchy back.

Some of Gyanendra’s supporters rode motorbikes with his pictures and flags, and a few had pictures of Adityanath too, which caused some people to get upset. In response to the negative feelings, RPP spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi accused Prime Minister K P Oli’s government of trying to ruin the pro-monarchy movement. Shahi claimed the government put someone at the rally to stir up trouble.

However, Bishnu Rimal, who is an advisor to Prime Minister Oli, denied these accusations. On social media, Shahi said, “This is just a trick made by people who don’t deserve their positions.”

Prime Minister Oli did not mention Adityanath by name but said, “We don’t use pictures of foreign leaders in our rallies” during a program in Kathmandu. Earlier this year, Gyanendra had met Adityanath during a trip to Uttar Pradesh.

Supporters of Gyanendra have been holding rallies in different parts of the country, including Kathmandu and Pokhara, asking to bring back the monarchy, which was ended in 2008 after the People’s Movement. Pro-monarchists have gained more energy since February, when Gyanendra said, “It’s time for us to take responsibility to protect our country and unite our people.”

  • Robots Join Race Against Time to Rescue Trapped Workers in Nagarkurnool

Robots Join Race Against Time to Rescue Trapped Workers in Nagarkurnool

Nagarkurnool – On Tuesday, robots joined the rescue operation to find seven people who have been trapped in a collapsed tunnel since February 22. A team from a robotics company in Hyderabad sent a robot into the tunnel early Tuesday morning, along with 110 rescue workers.

The Telangana government decided to use robots to keep rescuers safe because the tunnel is filled with water and mud, making it dangerous. State irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on March 8 that they would spend ₹4 crores for the robot experts to help. Pieces of a large Tunnel Boring Machine are underwater and have caused risky conditions.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited the tunnel on March 2 and suggested using robots to protect rescue workers. Teams from different organizations, including the NDRF and Singareni Collieries, are working together, following cadaver dogs and radar surveys to focus on areas where the trapped workers might be.

Two days ago, the rescuers found the body of Gurpreet Singh, who was an operator for a foreign company. His family in Punjab received ₹25 lakhs as compensation. The other seven people trapped are Manoj Kumar, Sunny Singh, Gurpreet Singh (another one), Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, and Anuj Sahu, and they all come from Jharkhand. The eight workers got stuck when a part of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal project tunnel collapsed.
