“Imtiaz Ali’s 2007 movie Jab We Met is a beloved romantic comedy. However, both the director and the main actor, Shahid Kapoor, believe that the characters Aditya and Geet might not be happily married today. In a recent chat with The Indian Express, Shahid agreed with Imtiaz’s idea that Geet and Aditya would probably be visiting a divorce lawyer now.

Shahid playfully noted, “It’s funny to think that they might be breaking up because they’re frustrated with each other. Aditya could be saying, ‘She truly loves herself; who can deal with that?’” Even though the movie is still very popular—especially after its re-release last year—Shahid wants fans to understand that he’s just sharing Imtiaz’s thoughts on the characters’ future. He mentioned, “If the director thinks these two will divorce, then who am I to argue? I’m just the actor.”

Interestingly, Jab We Met was released at a time when Shahid and Kareena Kapoor had just ended their real-life relationship. Since then, they’ve not worked together again, except for a brief cameo in Udta Punjab, where they didn’t share any scenes.

When asked about a possible sequel to Jab We Met, Kareena said it’s up to Imtiaz to decide. Shahid humorously added that the director has “moved on,” and Kareena cheekily suggested that if fans want more, they should just get a DVD of the original, which made Shahid laugh.

Atlanta rapper DJ Unk has sadly passed away at 43. He was born Anthony Leonard Platt and was known for his famous songs “Walk It Out” and “2 Step” released in 2006. The cause of his death hasn’t been shared yet, but his family shared the sad news on Friday. His wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, wrote on Facebook, “I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) is in a legal battle with Star India, which is backed by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Zeal has counterclaimed $8 million (plus interest) after Star India claimed $940 million in damages. The disagreement is about a failed deal for International Cricket Council (ICC) broadcasting rights, which is currently being discussed in a London court.

ZEEL had paid Star India ₹69 crore (about $8.4 million) as part of their agreement, but now ZEEL wants that money back because they say that Star didn’t keep its promises. ZEEL’s response was filled out on December 23, 2024. They say they shouldn’t have to pay anything because Star didn’t follow through on their part of the deal.

A team of three judges will help resolve the issue. Star India submitted their claims and expert reports about the money they feel they are owed.

The disagreement started with an agreement on August 26, 2022, where Star was supposed to give ZEEL the rights to show ICC men’s cricket events from 2024 to 2027. But after ZEEL dropped out, Star took over the media rights, which are worth about $3 billion.

Star claims that ZEEL didn’t pay the first installment of $203.56 million and owes more for various fees. Star began legal proceedings in March 2024 to force ZEEL to follow the agreement or to get damages. They later decided to cancel the agreement and only seek damages.

ZEEL argues that they should be refunded the ₹69 crore because Star didn’t meet their obligations. ZEEL believes they are in a strong position legally and doesn’t think this legal issue will harm their business. They’re keeping a close watch on the situation.

Previously, ZEEL mentioned that they could not move forward with the ICC agreement because of unmet conditions, such as financial commitments and approvals for the sub-licensing deal. Their plans to merge with Sony Pictures Networks India also affected this situation.

Star India reported a major loss of ₹12,548 crore for the financial year ending March 31, 2024, mainly because of a huge expense linked to the ICC media rights deal.

The movie Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is his first film in Malayalam. It stars Mammootty and was released in theaters on January 23. Critics have praised Mammootty’s acting but mentioned that the movie is a bit slow.

However, not all reviews were positive. One person expressed disappointment, saying, “This is the weakest movie from the Mammootty and GVM collaboration. It has a lot of Sherlock Holmes ideas but offers nothing new and feels predictable.”

Another critic agreed and wrote, “This movie was boring and relied too much on a twist at the end. The twist was obvious and made me expect more thrills. I was let down by this thriller.”

A Gautham fan even called the movie his “weakest work,” noting, “The writing felt lazy all through the film. It only became interesting toward the end, and neither the comedy nor the serious parts packed a punch. This is one of GVM’s weaker films.”

About Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse

The film follows Dominic, an ex-cop and struggling detective, who takes on the job of finding the owner of a lost purse. Little does he know, he is pulled into a large conspiracy. The cast also features Gokul Suresh, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu, and Viji Venkatesh. The movie is produced by Mammootty under his company, Mammootty Kampany.

Renowned director Ram Gopal Varma has been sentenced to three months of simple imprisonment due to a cheque bounce case. This news comes from the Andheri Magistrate Court in Mumbai. After seven years of legal proceedings, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him.

Ram Gopal Varma was found guilty under a law that punishes people for bouncing cheques due to insufficient funds. Along with his jail time, he is required to pay ₹3.75 lakh to the complainant. If he doesn’t pay this amount within three months, he could face an additional three months in prison.

The case was filed back in 2018 by a company named Shree, represented by Maheshchandra Mishra, against Varma’s company. In June 2022, he was granted bail after providing a personal bond and a ₹5,000 security deposit. A magistrate explained that since Varma was not in custody during the trial, there would be no adjustments made to his sentence.

At the recent hearing, Ram Gopal Varma was not present. He later responded on X (formerly Twitter) saying that this case is related to a ₹2 lakh 38 thousand amount involving a former employee. He mentioned that his lawyers are handling the situation and he can’t share more details because it’s in court.
