  • CBSE to Hold Class 10 Exams Twice Annually Starting 2026

CBSE to Hold Class 10 Exams Twice Annually Starting 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to change how Class 10 board exams work. Starting in 2026, students will take these exams two times a year. This new plan is available for everyone to see on the CBSE website, and they want feedback from students, parents, and schools.

Here’s what you should know about the changes:

    1. Two Exams, Higher Fee: Since there will be two exams in a year, the fee for the exams will increase. Schools will have to pay for both when they send in the list of students.

    2. No Early Results: After the first exam, students won’t receive any passing document. If a student chooses not to take the second exam, they can use their performance details from DigiLocker to apply for Class 11. A pass certificate will only be given after the second exam.

    3. Mark Sheet Information: The mark sheet will show scores from both exams plus practical exams and internal assessments. The better score between the two exams will be displayed.

    4. One Practical Exam: Even though there will be two theory exams, there will be only one practical exam or internal assessment.

    5. Admission Rules: Students who fail the first exam may still be allowed to join Class 12 on a provisional basis. Final admission will depend on the second exam results. To pass, students must do well in all five subjects.

    6. Subject Changes: Students can’t switch subjects after submitting the list for the first exam. If they want to change subjects, it can only be done for the second exam, and they can skip that subject in the first exam if they want.

    7. No Extra Exam for Second Test Takers: If a student decides only to take the second exam, they cannot take any other chances. They will have to wait until the next year if they want to take the first exam again.

    8. Following New Syllabus: If the syllabus changes next year, students must take the exam based on the new syllabus.

CBSE will review this plan after getting feedback. If necessary, they will make changes before finalizing it.

Schoolboy’s Tragic Suicide After Teacher’s Reprimand Sparks Outrage

A 14-year-old boy in a private school tragically took his own life by jumping from the school building on Saturday. This happened after a teacher scolded him and allegedly slapped him in front of his classmates.

Police say the incident happened around 9:30 am. The boy was being warned by his Physical Education Teacher for supposedly moving the direction of a CCTV camera in the classroom. Feeling embarrassed and hurt, the boy asked to go to the washroom but went to the fourth floor instead and jumped off.

Afterwards, the boy was quickly taken to the hospital but was sadly declared dead. Some other students mentioned that the teacher had hit the boy.

In the boy’s book, a note was found where he said sorry to his mother for “ending his life.” Police have opened a case against the teacher for abetment to suicide, which means they are investigating whether the teacher’s actions played a part in the boy’s tragic decision.
