In 2026, Delhi University (DU) will start a new one-year postgraduate program as part of the National Education Policy. The idea will be discussed at an important meeting on December 27. Although the plan has some improvements, a few teachers think it’s being rushed.

DU has already switched to a four-year undergraduate program. Right now, students are in their third semester. Under this system, if students complete one year, they get a certificate. If they finish two years, they earn a diploma, while those who complete three years get a degree. If a student finishes all four years, they receive a degree with honors.

Now, after completing three years, students can choose to join a two-year postgraduate program, but those who finish four years can directly enroll in the new one-year postgraduate program.

DU is getting ready for this change, working on different courses for both the one-year and two-year postgraduate programs. In the one-year program, students will earn 22 credits every semester, totaling 44 credits for the degree. For the two-year program, students will gather 88 credits. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), the two-year degree will be rated at level 6.5, while the one-year degree will be at level 7.

How to Check Your CAT 2024 Scorecard:
1. Go to the IIM CAT official website: iimcat.ac.in.
2. Click on the “IIM CAT Registration” link on the homepage.
3. Enter your login details on the new page.
4. Click “Submit.” Your results will show up on the screen.
5. Review your score and download the page.
6. Print a copy for your records.

A total of 3.29 lakh students registered for the exam. This included 1.19 lakh girls, 2.10 lakh boys, and 14 transgender participants. Out of 2.93 lakh students who took the test, 1.07 lakh were girls, 1.86 lakh were boys, and 9 were transgender.

Top Achievers:
This year, 14 students scored a perfect 100 percentile — 1 girl and 13 boys. Most of these top scorers came from Maharashtra, with contributions from other states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Delhi, among others.

The CAT was held on November 24, 2024, at 389 test centers across 170 cities in India. The exam lasted for 2 hours, divided into three sections of 40 minutes each. The test was conducted in three shifts:
– Morning: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
– Afternoon: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM
– Evening: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) checked 29 schools in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Bihar, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh to find out if they were enrolling “dummy” students. This means students who don’t actually attend classes but are still registered in the school.

CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta explained that 29 teams, made up of a CBSE officer and a principal from a different school, did these surprise checks. Most of the schools inspected had broken rules by signing up more students than they actually had in attendance, which is against the CBSE’s rules. They also didn’t meet other important school building standards.

Because of these findings, CBSE is taking action. They will send warning letters to the schools that broke the rules and may even take legal action against them.

The inspections took place on Wednesday and Thursday. Out of the 29 schools checked, 18 were in Delhi, 3 in Varanasi, and 2 each in Bengaluru, Patna, Ahmedabad, Bilaspur, and Chhattisgarh.

Many students who want to do well in engineering and medical entrance exams often choose “dummy” schools. They don’t attend these schools, allowing them to focus only on studying for their entrance exams. Some students also pick dummy schools to be eligible for specific quotas in medical or engineering colleges in their states. For example, students who finish classes 11 and 12 in Delhi can apply for medical colleges there and get extra advantages.

The Allahabad High Court has stepped in to help three young children who were kicked out of school for bringing non-vegetarian food in their lunchboxes. The court has ordered the local district magistrate to ensure these kids are admitted to a new school within two weeks.

This decision comes after a complaint from a woman named Sabra and others from Amroha. The judges, Siddharth and SC Sharma, told the district magistrate to find a school that follows the CBSE system for the children and send a report back to the court.

The parents of the children said that their right to education was harmed because the school expelled them for their food choice. The court’s order was given on December 17, and it plans to review the situation again on January 6, 2025. If the district magistrate does not submit the required report, he must appear in court on that date.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has created new rules to help colleges teach important skills that students need to get jobs. These new guidelines, which were approved on November 13, suggest adding courses in popular areas like data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital marketing to current academic programs. This is meant to help students gain hands-on experience that employers are looking for.

UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar stated, “By offering these skill-based courses, we can help students learn the important skills needed in fields such as AI and digital marketing. This way, education is more in tune with what businesses need.”

The new UGC guidelines fit well with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This policy, which began on July 29, 2020, aims to improve education in India while keeping Indian values at the heart of it.

Each university will now be able to offer these skill-based courses. Students can earn up to 50% of their degree credits from these courses, while special “Skill Universities” can allow up to 60%. In special cases, this can go as high as 70% with UGC’s approval. Kumar emphasized that this flexibility allows students to shape their own learning paths, helping them to grow personally and get ready for the job market.

Companies that want to help create these skill-based courses at colleges can also ask for UGC’s approval, helping to improve connections between schools and businesses for better job opportunities.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has opened registration for the CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) for May 2025. If you want to apply, you can do so on their official website at icsi.edu. Remember, the last date to register is April 15, 2025. This exam is for students who have completed or are currently in Class 12.

The CSEET will take place on May 3, 2025, and it will be online with supervision. The test will last for 120 minutes and include questions worth a total of 200 marks. Good news—there’s no penalty for incorrect answers!

The exam covers four subjects, each worth 50 marks:
– Business Communication
– Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning
– Economic and Business Environment
– Current Affairs and Quantitative Aptitude

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are ready to hold the RRB Technician Exam for Grade I and Grade III jobs starting on Thursday, December 19, 2024. This exam will take place over nine days, with additional dates on December 20, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, 2024.

If you are taking the exam tomorrow, here are some important things to remember:

– Exam Type: The test will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with 100 multiple-choice questions.
– Time: You will have 90 minutes to finish.
– Negative Marking: One-third of a mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Through this recruitment, RRBs aim to fill 9,144 Technician posts. Out of these, 1,092 are for Technician Grade I Signal, and 8,052 are for Technician Grade III roles. The registration for the exam opened on March 9 and ended on April 8, 2024.

Exam city slips for both grades were made available on December 10 and 15, 2024. The admit cards were released four days before the exams on the RRB websites.

The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has a message for students wishing to take the Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) in 2024. They should fill out their application forms carefully because once they submit them, they cannot make any changes. This means it’s very important to check all your details before locking the application.

As of Tuesday evening, RBSE reported that they have received 5,957 applications for REET 2024. Of these, 1,722 students have chosen Level 1, and 4,235 have chosen Level 2. Additionally, 125 candidates are applying for both levels.
