Students in Bihar are upset about a possible cheating scandal in an important exam run by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). They want to talk directly to the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, instead of just meeting with the BPSC officials.

On Saturday, Patna District Magistrate Chandrasekhar Singh said he would not allow a big student meeting planned for Sunday and warned actions against coaching centers involved in the protests.

Prashant Kishor, who started a movement for better governance, visited the protesting students in Gardani Bagh. He shared that cheating and question paper leaks in BPSC exams have become a big problem and something needs to be done.

The students are angry about an exam that happened recently. They want it canceled because they believe it was unfair, claiming that just rerunning the test for one center isn’t fair to everyone.

The District Magistrate mentioned that earlier in the day, they tried to set up a meeting for students with BPSC officials, but the students insisted on talking to the Chief Minister, which was not possible since BPSC acts independently.

The Bihar Police are looking into people who might be inciting the protests, including a YouTube influencer named Guru Rahman. He told the police he opposes how scores are adjusted for fairness in the exam. He has also been warned not to participate in such protests.

The BPSC said it only canceled the exam for one center because of chaos there. They claim that, out of 912 exam centers, everything went well in 911 of them.

Bihar’s BJP leader, Dilip Jaiswal, stated that the government cares about students but they need to provide real proof that cheating happened on December 13.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit cards for the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) taking place on January 3, 2025. If you’re a candidate, you can download your admit card from ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

The NTA will release admit cards for other testing days later. The UGC NET will cover 85 different subjects, and the exams will occur from January 3 to January 16. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made it easier for girls to get the Single Girl Child Scholarship for 2024. Now, you can apply until January 10, 2025!

In other news, the UGC NET December 2024 exam city information has been released and can be found on the same website. The exam will be from January 3 to January 16, 2025, and you can check your exam center on January 3, 2025. The exam will cover 85 subjects and will be done through a Computer Based Test in two shifts: the morning shift from 9 AM to 12 PM, and the afternoon shift from 3 PM to 6 PM. There will be two sections in the exam, and all the questions will be multiple-choice. The test will be in English and Hindi, except for language subjects.

Delhi University plans to start a PhD program in Hindu Studies for the academic year 2025-26. This decision was made by the Standing Committee after a recommendation from the Governing Body of the Centre for Hindu Studies. The PhD program was supposed to start this year but will now begin later.

Prerna Malhotra, Joint Director of the Centre for Hindu Studies, said that the new program aims to help students who want to research in Hindu Studies. Many students, especially those who have passed the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and National Eligibility Test (NET), have asked about research opportunities. Delhi University wants to support these students and promote more research in different areas of Hindu Studies.

At first, the Centre may offer 10 seats for the PhD program, including reservations for certain groups. Depending on the resources and academic needs, the number of seats might be increased in the future. The Academic Council of Delhi University will review this plan in a meeting scheduled for December 27. If they approve it, the proposal will be sent to the Executive Council, which is the top decision-making body of the university.

The Governing Body made this recommendation based on a previous decision taken on June 21, 2024. To be eligible for the PhD program, students need to have a Master’s degree in Hindu Studies or a related subject with at least 55% marks. They must also have JRF/NET qualification or pass the university’s PhD eligibility test. Relaxations for reserved categories will be provided as mentioned in the PhD Information Bulletin.

Until regular faculty members are appointed, teachers from related departments and colleges will supervise the research. Currently, Delhi University only has a two-year Master’s program in Hindu Studies. The Centre for Hindu Studies was established in 2023 and has started its first MA batch in November 2023.

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced the answer key for the RRB Technician Grade I exam held on December 19 and 20, 2024. If you took this computer-based test, you can easily download the answer key from the RRB’s official website.

The official notice says, “The Computer Based Test for Technician-I against CEN 02/2024 was held from December 19-20, 2024. Candidates can view their question papers and answers using the provided link on the RRB websites, which will be available from December 26, 2024, at 11 AM to December 31, 2024, at 11 AM.”

If you want to challenge an answer, there’s a fee of Rs. 50 for each question you dispute. If the RRB finds your challenge is valid, this fee will be refunded to you with any applicable bank charges taken out.

The RRBs are hiring for a total of 9,144 Technician positions, including 1,092 spots for Technician Grade I Signal and 8,052 for Technician Grade III.
