  • “How to Ace ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ in Job Interviews

“How to Ace ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ in Job Interviews

When you go to a job interview, you might hear the question, “So, tell me about yourself.” This question sounds easy, but it can be tricky because it’s so open-ended.

What should you say? Should you talk about your life, your last job, or your skills? Here are some tips to help you answer this common question.

Focus on the Job, Not Your Life

Remember, your interview is about showing why you are a great match for the job. The interviewer has already seen your resume, so you don’t need to repeat what’s on it. Think of the interview like a performance where you show how you can fit into their team.

Career coach John Lees suggests imagining that the interviewers are picturing you working with them. You don’t need to share personal stories or hobbies right at the start. Save those for later in the interview when there’s time for more casual conversation.

    Know What They Want

To give the best answer, read the job description carefully. Look for important phrases such as “required” or “must have.” Make sure to highlight these qualities in your answer.

Less important phrases such as “preferred” can take a backseat, even if you meet them. Pay close attention to what the company needs from this role. The job description might also give clues about whether the work environment is fun or serious.

Check the “About Us” section on the company’s website to learn about its culture and values.

Write down three key qualities they are looking for by completing this sentence: “They’re looking for someone who…”

    Show You Fit the Need

Start your answer with phrases like “I’m someone who…” or “At work, my approach is…” Use your work experience to show how you meet the specific needs of the job you’re applying for. If possible, choose an example that is similar to the new job.

Practice your answer out loud before the interview. This way, you’ll be ready to show why you are a valuable candidate. This approach will help you stand out from other applicants, as you won’t just talk about yourself; you’ll explain why you matter to the organization!

  • A Simple Guide to Answer ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ in Interviews

A Simple Guide to Answer ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ in Interviews

Job interviews often start with the question, “So, tell me about yourself.” It might sound simple, but giving a good answer can be tricky because it’s wide open. So, what should you do? You don’t need to talk about your life or hobbies right away; instead, focus on what the employer is looking for.

    1. Know What the Company Needs:
Before your interview, read the job description carefully. Look for important phrases like “must have” or “required.” These show what skills they want. You can learn about the company’s culture by visiting their website, especially the “About Us” section.

    2. Show You Are a Perfect Fit:
Start your answer with phrases like “I’m someone who…” or “At work, I…” Use a specific example from your past job that matches what the company needs.

    3. Prepare and Practice:
Think about your answer ahead of time. Practicing will help you feel more confident during the interview.

By using this approach, you’ll impress the interviewers and show them why you’re the best choice for the job.

  • BPSC Sends Legal Notices Over Exam Allegations Amid Student Protests

BPSC Sends Legal Notices Over Exam Allegations Amid Student Protests

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has recently sent legal notices to several people, including politicians, who have made what it calls “baseless” claims about a test held on December 13. This test is part of the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) in Bihar.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Examination Controller of BPSC, mentioned that they are taking action against those who are making false allegations. He stated that more notices will be sent out soon.

One of the people who received a notice is Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party. Kishor is accused of making untrue statements about the BPSC and must provide solid evidence within seven days to back up his claims. He recently stated that job positions were sold for amounts between ₹1 crore and ₹1.5 crore, claiming a scam worth over ₹1,000 crore.

Another person served with a notice is Khan Sir, a well-known tutor and YouTuber from Patna. He expressed sadness over this action but confirmed that he will continue to fight for the students who are protesting against the BPSC.

In response to these events, Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, has called for a Bihar bandh (strike) on January 12 to support students who want the BPSC exam canceled.

Students protesting against the exam have been receiving support from various leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav and Prashant Kishor. They are looking for support from Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, about the future of the exam.

The BPSC exam has been facing scrutiny due to rumors of question paper leaks. In response to these allegations, the government has ordered a new test for over 12,000 candidates who took the exam at a center in Patna.

Despite all these issues, students are organizing marches to voice their concerns about the exam and continue their fight for justice.
