The first cricketer to reach 300 ODIs was Mohammed Azharuddin in 1998 against Australia. Over the years, 21 players from around the world have reached this milestone, with Tendulkar holding the record for the most matches at 463. Chris Gayle, a West Indies legend, was the latest to join the club in 2019.

    Upcoming Milestones for Kohli

After a challenging start in the Champions Trophy with only 22 runs against Bangladesh, Kohli bounced back spectacularly. He scored an unbeaten 100 runs in a critical match against Pakistan, helping India secure a spot in the semifinals. This was his 51st century overall and his first in the Champions Trophy.

Kohli is now close to breaking another record. With 651 runs in the Champions Trophy over 15 innings, he is just 51 runs away from Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 701 runs, which he achieved in only 10 innings. Kohli currently ranks seventh in the all-time list, where Chris Gayle leads with 791 runs in 17 innings.

  • Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost: A Historic Moon Landing

Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost: A Historic Moon Landing

On Sunday, Firefly Aerospace, an American private space company, successfully landed its Blue Ghost spacecraft on the Moon! This means Firefly is the first commercial company ever to land on the Moon. They celebrated this big achievement on social media, saying, “We did it! This small landing on the Moon is a huge step for commercial space exploration. Congrats to everyone at Firefly, our partners, and NASA for making this happen!”

The mission, also known as “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” launched on January 15 using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. It is part of a collaboration with NASA to reduce costs and help return astronauts to the Moon through the Artemis program.

Before landing, Firefly shared an update on social media, saying, “In just 2 hours, Blue Ghost will start its journey to the Moon’s Mare Crisium. There will be a short communication blackout while this happens. After that, we will check to make sure everything is okay!”

The Blue Ghost lander, which is about the size of a hippopotamus, is carrying 10 special tools. These include a lunar soil analyzer and a computer that can work in space radiation. It will also help test if a global satellite navigation system can work on the Moon.

One exciting task for the Blue Ghost is to record a lunar sunset, which will help scientists understand why dust lifts off the Moon’s surface, creating a glowing horizon. This mysterious glow was first seen by Apollo astronaut Eugene Cernan.

This mission comes at a crucial time for NASA. There is discussion about possibly changing or even stopping the Artemis lunar program to focus more on exploring Mars, which is important to President Trump and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

  • Latest Update on Pope Francis: Health Improving After Pneumonia Battle

Latest Update on Pope Francis: Health Improving After Pneumonia Battle

Pope Francis is resting and doing okay as he recovers from double pneumonia. He missed his regular Sunday blessing again because he’s still not strong enough to appear in public. This is the third weekend in a row he has skipped delivering the Angelus prayer. The Vatican planned to share his prepared message instead.

Doctors said the Pope had a quiet night in the hospital and showed signs of improvement, even though he had a hard time breathing before and needed help with oxygen. He is 88 years old and has had lung issues for a long time, having had part of his lung removed when he was younger. He went to the hospital on February 14 due to worsening bronchitis that turned into pneumonia in both lungs.

The good news is that he can now breathe without the ventilator for long periods and his body is responding better, which is a sign that his health is improving. Doctors still advised caution, so he isn’t completely out of danger yet. He is eating, drinking, and doing breathing exercises, and even spent some time in his private chapel.

Many people are praying for Pope Francis as the Vatican celebrates a special Holy Year, bringing many pilgrims to Rome. They walk through the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica and pray in Assisi, the town named after his saintly namesake, St. Francis. People visiting from different places, like Rev. Jacinto Bento from the Azores Islands, expressed their sadness over the Pope’s health.

In a twist of fate, Pope Francis was supposed to meet hospital staff for a special audience, but he had to stay in the hospital. Monsignor Claudio Giuliodori, of the Catholic University connected to the hospital, said they understood and continued to pray for him.

At the Gemelli hospital, the atmosphere is better, with shared feelings of hope and support for the Pope.

  • Russia’s Evolving Relationship with Syria After Assad’s Fall

Russia’s Evolving Relationship with Syria After Assad’s Fall

For many years, Russian soldiers at the Hmeimim Air Base in Syria could move freely in coastal cities. Their planes flew out to bomb groups fighting against Bashar al-Assad’s harsh government. But now, things have changed. Assad is gone, and the area is now controlled by a group called Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which used to be one of the enemy groups. These former rebels now guard the entrances to the Hmeimim Air Base and another naval base in Tartous, 60 km away.

The new leader of Syria, Ahmed Sharaa, wants to change the deals that Assad made with Russia. He is hoping for better terms for the naval base in Tartous and the Hmeimim Air Base, which are very important for Russia. Even with tensions between them, it seems like both sides want to keep working together. Russia is involved in Syria’s economy and military affairs, having been there for decades, especially since the civil war started in 2015.

Assad left Syria in December, going to Russia for safety. Now, the HTS group, which used to face Russian airstrikes, is meeting with Russian officials to negotiate terms for the bases. They discussed issues like Syria’s debt to Russia and the return of money that could be in Russia. While the U.S. and Europe have eased some sanctions on Syria, doing business remains tough due to ongoing restrictions.

Sharaa, during a meeting with a Russian envoy, asked for the cancellation of loans from Russia and brought up the idea of bringing Assad back, but this was not a major point in the talks. Russia is not planning to hand over Assad, and in previous meetings, they denied that any Syrian money taken by Assad exists. A senior Russian source mentioned that Russia sees the importance of having a friendly government in Syria.

Sharaa stated that the new relationship between Syria and Russia should fix past mistakes and asked for compensation for the damage caused by Russia during the war. The discussions were smooth, and a recent call between Sharaa and Russian President Vladimir Putin was described as positive.

The rebuilding of Syria is expected to cost around $400 billion. Russia may not accept blame for the destruction but might offer humanitarian aid instead. The article highlights how the impacts of the war are visible everywhere in Syria, with many areas in ruins and shops struggling to survive. Russian soldiers used to frequent local shops, but now they only travel in convoys and do not linger in the area.

  • Inzamam Urges IPL Boycott Over Champions Trophy Controversy

Inzamam Urges IPL Boycott Over Champions Trophy Controversy

Inzamam ul Haq, a famous cricketer from Pakistan, is upset with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) because of a current problem during the Champions Trophy. He wants other cricket boards to team up and stop sending their players to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This situation began when English cricket legends Nasser Hussain and Mike Atherton said that India has a big advantage in the tournament. They pointed out that the Indian team is playing all its matches in one city—Dubai—because the Indian government wouldn’t let them travel to Pakistan due to political and safety issues.

Inzamam argued that Indian players cannot play in foreign leagues, while players from other countries can participate in the IPL. He said, “If India doesn’t let its players join other leagues, why should other boards send their players to the IPL?”

The controversy grew when Australia and South Africa went to Dubai to prepare for a potential semifinal match against India. The semifinal match between India and New Zealand is coming up, and the winner will face either Australia or South Africa. One of those teams will have to fly back to Pakistan because of the match setup.
