Israel Closes Embassy in Ireland Amid Palestine Recognition Tensions

Israel has decided to shut down its embassy in Ireland. This is because Ireland recognized Palestine as a country and supported a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said that the Irish government has unfairly criticized Israel and acted against it. He stated that the Irish government is trying to damage Israel’s reputation and support lies about it, especially during conflicts.

Sa’ar mentioned that Ireland has not accepted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, and he believes the Irish government has not done enough to fight antisemitism itself.

Former Prime Minister Yair Lapid disagreed with Sa’ar’s decision. He thinks that Israel should keep embassies in countries where there is disagreement, so they can address those conflicts directly.

Ireland has been a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause and has often drawn comparisons to its own history of struggle against British rule. This year, Ireland recognized Palestine as a state and supported legal claims against Israel.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris expressed disappointment over Israel’s decision and emphasized that Ireland is not anti-Israel. He stated that Ireland stands for peace, human rights, and international law. Ireland will continue to push for a two-state solution to allow both Israelis and Palestinians to live peacefully.

Despite this, the Irish Foreign Minister said there are no plans to close Ireland’s embassy in Israel, and diplomatic relations will continue.

Despite his efforts, the target of 175 runs was too low, and in the end, it was not enough to stop Mumbai from winning the title again!

  • Jaishankar Advocates for India’s New Foreign Policy Vision”

Jaishankar Advocates for India’s New Foreign Policy Vision”

On Sunday, India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that India must develop a foreign policy suited for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). He believes that changes in the world require us to rethink how we approach foreign relations, moving past the old ways started by Jawaharlal Nehru.

Jaishankar spoke at the launch of ‘India’s World’ magazine and emphasized that we should not be afraid to discuss a new direction in our foreign policy. He highlighted four important reasons to consider updating our approach:

    1. Old Models: Jaishankar mentioned that India’s earlier development approach led to a certain foreign policy style. As we change how we look at development in India, our foreign policy should also adapt.

    2. Changing World: The world has changed a lot since the mid-1900s when countries were either aligned or not. Now, relationships between countries have become more complex.

    3. Global Connections: In recent years, countries are more connected than ever, making international relations even more crucial.

    4. Technological Advances: Technology is now a big part of foreign policy decisions and our everyday lives.

Jaishankar argued that if our country’s domestic situation changes, and the way countries interact changes, then our foreign policy must evolve too. He urged people not to view new ideas about foreign policy as political attacks, pointing out that previous leaders, like Narasimha Rao, have already begun this change.

Finally, he stated that to achieve our dream of a developed India, we need a foreign policy that fits our rising aspirations.

Shilpa Shetty Donates Robotic Elephant to Promote Ethical Animal Care”

Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka): Actress Shilpa Shetty gifted a life-size mechanical elephant named Veerabhadra to the Shri Jagadguru Renukacharya Temple on Sunday. This donation celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of Shrimad Rambhapuri Veerarudramuni Jagadguru. Karnataka Minister Eshwar B Khandre, who is responsible for Forest, Ecology, and Environment, praised the temple for choosing not to keep real elephants. Instead, they opted for an amazing new technology that allows them to use a robotic elephant instead.

The minister explained that many other temples had asked him for a live elephant, but he couldn’t give one due to the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. He said that technology like this robotic elephant is necessary and beneficial, allowing real elephants to live freely in nature.

Shilpa Shetty’s donation was made with help from PETA India and the animal welfare group CUPA, based in Bengaluru. The giant mechanical elephant stands three meters tall, weighs 800 kg, and is made from materials like rubber, metal, and foam, running on five motors. Minister Khandre expressed his gratitude to PETA, CUPA, and the actress on behalf of the Karnataka government.

Veerabhadra will be used for ceremonies at the temple without harming real elephants, ensuring they can stay in their natural habitats. The chief swami of the Peetha, Rambhapuri Jagadguru, encouraged other temples to adopt mechanical elephants too.

PETA pointed out that many elephants kept in captivity suffer from serious health issues due to being chained. They shared a shocking statistic that captive elephants in Kerala caused 526 human deaths over a 15-year period. PETA India has already helped donate mechanical elephants to other temples, with six currently used across South India.

  • Israeli Strikes Kill 22 Palestinians Amid Ongoing Gaza Conflict

Israeli Strikes Kill 22 Palestinians Amid Ongoing Gaza Conflict

On Sunday, Israeli soldiers killed at least 22 Palestinians, mostly in the northern Gaza Strip. This happened during airstrikes and attacks on places, including a school where people had taken shelter.

Medics and locals reported that at least 11 people died when Israeli planes hit three houses in Gaza City. Nine others died in nearby towns, and two were killed by drone fire in Rafah. Many houses were bombed, and some caught fire.

The Israeli army has been active in these towns for over two months. They stated that the houses in Gaza City belonged to people planning violent attacks and they tried to avoid harming civilians by using precise weapons and watching from the air first.

The military also shared a photo of weapons they found in Beit Lahiya, which included explosives and many grenades.

In Beit Hanoun, Israeli forces surrounded a school where families were hiding and ordered them to leave for Gaza City. During this raid, some people were killed and many others were hurt, while several men were taken away by the army.

The exact number of those killed during the school raid is unclear. The military claimed they struck down many militants and captured some in Beit Hanoun.

Separately, Israel said its air force took out a Hamas command center in a clinic in northern Gaza. The Gaza health ministry said the clinic, which also had mental health services, was destroyed.

Many Palestinians say Israel is trying to push them out of their homes to create a buffer zone, but Israel insists they are only targeting Hamas militants to keep them from regrouping.

They also said they have told civilians to leave dangerous areas for their safety.

The fighting started when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking over 250 hostages back to Gaza, according to Israeli officials. In response, Israel launched a ground, sea, and air offensive that has killed nearly 45,000 people in Gaza, mostly civilians, and forced almost everyone to leave their homes, leaving much of the area destroyed.

Efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach a ceasefire have gained some attention, but no major progress has been made yet.

  • Rohingya Migrants in Delhi: A Controversial Blame Game

Rohingya Migrants in Delhi: A Controversial Blame Game

In a recent statement, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi accused Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri of being inconsistent about the Rohingya migrants in Delhi. She claimed he was either lying before or is lying now. Atishi insisted that the Central government is to blame for the Rohingya migrants living in various areas of Delhi. She said the Central government let them enter India illegally. These migrants traveled through multiple states to reach Delhi, where the government helped them find homes.

Atishi expressed that if there are problems or crimes involving these migrants, the Central government should take full responsibility. Earlier, Minister Puri criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Atishi for spreading false information about the Rohingya issue. He stated that he had already shared the facts regarding Rohingya migrants in a tweet, which he claimed AAP ignored on purpose.

Puri tweeted that no Rohingya migrant had been given a government house and accused AAP of allowing illegal migrants to settle in Delhi. He also claimed they provided these migrants with electricity, water, and financial support.

In her letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Atishi said the Central government settled many illegal Rohingya migrants in Delhi without telling the state government. She pointed out two previous posts by Puri to show that this has been happening for years. Atishi requested that the Union government share a complete list of the Rohingyas and their addresses. She also demanded that no more Rohingyas be settled in Delhi without consulting the city’s government and its residents.
