  • Anwar Gargash Talks About Assad’s Future Amid UAE Ties”

Anwar Gargash Talks About Assad’s Future Amid UAE Ties”

Manama: Anwar Gargash, a top official from the UAE, answered questions about Syria and President Bashar al-Assad. In the past, the UAE has tried to improve Assad’s image in the Arab world. When asked about Assad’s possible visit to the UAE, Gargash responded by saying that, at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter where Assad goes. He compared this situation to Kaiser Wilhelm II, who went into exile in 1918, stating that it’s not a crucial part of history. Even when journalists pushed him to confirm if Assad was in the UAE, Gargash did not directly answer. There has been talk that Assad might escape to the UAE, where his family owns properties in Dubai. On Saturday, data showed private jets flying between Syria and the UAE. Gargash shared these thoughts on Sunday during the Manama Dialogue at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in Bahrain.

  • Uttar Pradesh’s Bright Idea: Keeping Stray Cattle Safe at Night”

Uttar Pradesh’s Bright Idea: Keeping Stray Cattle Safe at Night”

To keep stray cattle safe, Uttar Pradesh has introduced a bright and easy idea: putting glowing, reflective strips around the necks and horns of cows and bulls. These strips shine brightly when car headlights hit them, making it easier for drivers to see the animals at night and preventing accidents. Local officials say this plan is working, but they are still gathering proof to show its success.

In Pilibhit, where this project started, the task has been exciting but also tough, similar to the challenging nature of the animals themselves. Workers have placed reflective tapes on 450 stray bulls along three busy roads: Bareilly-Haridwar NH-74, Pilibhit-Basti NH-730, and Bhind-Lipulekh NH-731. Each animal costs Rs 400 for this bright upgrade, especially helping animals with black fur that are hard to see at night.

The local villagers have been very helpful and even helped pay for much of the project costs. “It’s an ambitious project,” said Virendra Singh, who is in charge of the effort. However, while villagers supported the workers, the process was not always safe. The workers didn’t have protective gear and tranquilizers, making them vulnerable to the very animals they were helping. Singh explained that they were only able to succeed thanks to the villagers’ support. However, without better safety gear, they can’t continue this effort widely.

Currently, there are about 15 lakh stray cattle in the state, with 12 lakh living in shelters. A private company has created reflective tapes in different sizes to fit animals of all shapes. This project is also helping both the Animal Husbandry Department and the Transport Department work together to mark dangerous roads where more help is needed. Additional transport commissioner Pushpsen Satyarthi stated, “This is about keeping the roads safe for both people and animals, stopping accidents, and saving lives.” Right now, the reflective tapes shine brightly in the headlights of passing cars—a small sign of hope in the dark roads of Uttar Pradesh. Whether this bright idea can lead to lasting change is still a question that remains open.

Australia Shines in Fast Test Victory: Border-Gavaskar Trophy Tied 1-1″

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all tied up at 1-1 after Australia won a fast-paced Test match against India by 10 wickets! This match at the Adelaide Oval was the fastest ever between the two teams, lasting only 1031 balls or about 171.5 overs.

India struggled in their two innings, getting out for just 180 and 175 runs. Meanwhile, Australian batsman Travis Head was a star, scoring an impressive 140 runs at his home ground. This match moved quickly, breaking the previous record held by a game in Indore in 2023 that lasted 1135 balls.

In that Indore match, Australia also won easily by nine wickets. They bowled India out for 109 and 163, while they scored 197 runs in their first innings. That game showed off spinners but in Adelaide, Australia’s fast bowlers did all the work. Mitchell Starc took 6 wickets in the first innings, and captain Pat Cummins added 5 in the second.

These two matches are the only ones that ended in under 200 overs between India and Australia. The infamous Adelaide Test in 2020, where India scored only 36 runs in an innings, took 1246 balls to finish. Other matches in Perth (2012) and Mumbai (2004) took 1200 and 1213 balls, respectively. India’s only win in these matches was in Mumbai, where they narrowly won by 13 runs.

Next Up: Deciding Game in Brisbane!

Australia now heads to Brisbane for the next match, with the series tied at 1-1. Both teams need to win this crucial match. The previous Tests have been pretty clear by the end of the third innings, but Australia is aiming to keep their winning streak going from Adelaide. Meanwhile, India will look to remember their famous victory in Brisbane in 2021 as they prepare for this important match.

  • New Safety Rules for Petrol Pumps After Billboard Tragedy

New Safety Rules for Petrol Pumps After Billboard Tragedy

The Indian oil regulator has asked fuel retail companies to check all petrol pumps across the country for safety risks. This decision comes after a tragic accident on May 13, when a huge billboard fell on a petrol pump in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, killing 17 people and injuring 75 others.

On December 6, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) formed a committee to look into what caused this incident. While they haven’t shared the committee’s findings yet, they ordered all fuel retailers to quickly review safety plans for their stations.

Retailers must examine not just the petrol pumps themselves but also anything nearby—like billboards, hoardings, and structures—that could be dangerous. They need to create and follow a plan to fix any risks they find. This could mean removing or strengthening unsafe signs and structures.

Every petrol station in India must follow strict safety rules, and if they don’t, they have to provide a detailed plan outlining how they will fix the issues, including specific timelines for their actions.

There are currently over 92,000 petrol pumps in India, many of which have large advertising boards. Now, safety checks for these billboards and signs are more important than ever to keep customers safe.

  • Rohit Sharma Admits India’s Mistakes in Loss to Australia in Second Test

Rohit Sharma Admits India’s Mistakes in Loss to Australia in Second Test

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, said that Australia played much better than his team in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He explained that India missed key chances, and Australia made them pay for it. India lost by ten wickets in Adelaide because their batters did not perform well in both innings. Even star players like Rohit and Virat Kohli struggled, leading to India getting bowled out for low scores.

In the second innings, India could only score 175 runs. It was only thanks to strong performances from Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy that they managed to get that many runs. Australia only needed 19 runs to win, and they easily achieved this in just 3.2 overs.

Rohit expressed his disappointment at the post-match presentation: “It was a disappointing week for us. We didn’t play well enough to win, and Australia was better. We missed important opportunities, which cost us the game.”

This match finished quickly, with Australia wrapping it up in the first session of Day 3. It turned out to be the shortest Test match between India and Australia and the fourth shortest Test in Australia in terms of balls bowled.

Rohit Sharma missed the first Test in Perth, but he praised the team’s victory there under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy, winning by 295 runs. Now, with the series tied at 1-1, Rohit acknowledged that it would be tough in the upcoming matches. “What we did in Perth was really special. Every Test match is different, and we knew it would be challenging with the pink ball, but Australia played better,” he said.

The next Test will be held at the Gabba, Brisbane, from December 14 to 18. Rohit is eager for the next game and plans to focus on what went right in Perth: “We have good memories there, but we know each Test has its challenges. We want to start strong and play well

  • Protesters in Syria Bring Down Assad Statues in Defiant Act!”

Protesters in Syria Bring Down Assad Statues in Defiant Act!”

In Jermana, a suburb near Damascus, protesters took down a statue of Hafez al-Assad, the late father of current Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The crowd, mostly from the Druze community, demanded that President Assad step down. They walked towards government buildings, calling for security forces to leave their neighborhood. Ryan Marouf, an activist, mentioned that unlike other parts of Syria, the government has mostly ignored protests from the Druze. This time, demonstrators even removed posters of Assad, challenging the strong support he and his father usually receive.

The night before, there were fights in Suweida, another Druze city, where local militias attacked a police station, freeing many prisoners. In Deraa, west of Suweida, people celebrated by taking down a statue of Assad and firing their guns in the air. These events show a growing spirit of freedom among people who want change in Syria’s government.
