Modi’s ₹40,000 Crore Project to Connect 11 Rivers in Rajasthan!”

Surat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch a big project worth around ₹40,000 crores to connect 11 rivers in Rajasthan. This project aims to turn Rajasthan into a water-rich state, according to Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil. At the opening event of a semiconductor plant by Suchi Semicon, Patil encouraged companies to invest in water-saving techniques to help with the future water problems.

Rajasthan is facing serious water shortages. Modi will announce this project on December 17, which is expected to provide plenty of water for the state. Patil highlighted that while people have saved enough money for generations, it’s equally important to save water for future generations.

Earlier in January 2024, the governments of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh made an agreement with the Ministry of Jal Shakti to develop detailed plans for the Modified Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal (MPKC) link project alongside the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). This project aims to alleviate the water crisis in both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The MPKC link project will involve major rivers like Chambal and its smaller rivers: Parbati, Kalisindh, Kuno, Banas, Banganga, Ruparail, Gambhiri, and Mej. The project will provide water to 21 new districts in Rajasthan such as Jhalawar, Kota, Bundi, Tonk, and others, as well as to various districts in Madhya Pradesh like Guna, Shivpuri, and Gwalior. The main goals of this project are to supply drinking water, support farming, and meet industrial water needs.

Rohingya Migrants in Delhi: A Controversial Blame Game

In a recent statement, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi accused Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri of being inconsistent about the Rohingya migrants in Delhi. She claimed he was either lying before or is lying now. Atishi insisted that the Central government is to blame for the Rohingya migrants living in various areas of Delhi. She said the Central government let them enter India illegally. These migrants traveled through multiple states to reach Delhi, where the government helped them find homes.

Atishi expressed that if there are problems or crimes involving these migrants, the Central government should take full responsibility. Earlier, Minister Puri criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Atishi for spreading false information about the Rohingya issue. He stated that he had already shared the facts regarding Rohingya migrants in a tweet, which he claimed AAP ignored on purpose.

Puri tweeted that no Rohingya migrant had been given a government house and accused AAP of allowing illegal migrants to settle in Delhi. He also claimed they provided these migrants with electricity, water, and financial support.

In her letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Atishi said the Central government settled many illegal Rohingya migrants in Delhi without telling the state government. She pointed out two previous posts by Puri to show that this has been happening for years. Atishi requested that the Union government share a complete list of the Rohingyas and their addresses. She also demanded that no more Rohingyas be settled in Delhi without consulting the city’s government and its residents.

DJ Yesong Sentenced to 8 Years for Fatal DUI Accident in Seoul

Ahn Ye Song, who was a member of the K-pop girl group INSTAR and is now a DJ called Yesong, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison. This comes after she drove her Mercedes-Benz SUV while drunk and caused the death of a delivery worker in his 50s. Reports from South Korean news today confirm her punishment after the Supreme Court made its decision on December 10.

Initially, Yesong was sentenced to 10 years because she left the scene without helping the victim. However, the sentence was reduced to 8 years after she showed regret and settled with the victim’s family. The prosecutors had suggested a longer sentence of 15 years because they felt she did not show much remorse, especially when her lawyers tried to blame the victim for what happened.

Yesong’s lawyer stated that she understood the seriousness of what she did. She admitted to drinking heavily at a work event before driving and has no memory of the accident. Yesong recognized that she needs help for her drinking problem. Although she accepted her guilt, her team claimed that the victim should also share some blame, suggesting that the accident might not have happened if the victim had chosen a different road.

In her follow-up comments, Yesong took back her earlier claims. She explained that she was under financial stress due to not getting enough work, which led her to drink at an important event. She said, “I am very sorry for the pain I caused to the victim, and I’m thinking seriously about my actions.”

The accident occurred in February when Yesong was driving with a very high blood alcohol level of 0.221%, which is way over the legal limit. She hit a motorcyclist in Gangnam, Seoul, after trying to escape from an earlier crash.

How Drones Are Revolutionizing Weddings in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh

Ballia (UP): In a small town in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, young men are impressing everyone with their drones at weddings. One of them is 20-year-old Sumit Kumar, who has quickly become popular for flying drones. He started out helping photographers but saw a chance to use drones for capturing amazing aerial photos of weddings.

Sumit’s tricks are making weddings extra special. He not only takes beautiful pictures but also delivers garlands to the couple using his drone. At a recent village wedding, guests were amazed when sumit flew his drone over a lotus-shaped stage to drop garlands for the bride and groom. The crowd erupted in cheers as the groom took the garland from the drone and put it around the bride’s neck. It was such a magical moment that many guests grabbed their phones to record it.

Sumit has a friend who helps him carry the drone on a motorcycle to different wedding events in Ballia and nearby areas. Drones have become a hot trend in local weddings, and Sumit charges between Rs 8,000 and Rs 40,000 for his services, depending on how long he works at the event.

Awdhesh Singh, who sells drones, says more people in rural areas are noticing how fun drones can make weddings. They give stunning photos and create excitement, all while costing less than hiring dancers.

During the quiet times of the year, Sumit and other drone pilots, like Pushkar Kumar, also take jobs for festivals and political events. However, weddings are still their best work, attracting clients from nearby towns and cities like Varanasi.

Pushkar enjoys working in villages because it’s easier to get permission to fly the drones there, and people are really excited to see them. He dreams of making drone flying his full-time job and hopes that government programs to support rural women with agricultural drones will also help drone photographers like him.

Experts say these programs are about tapping into the growing love for drones among young people. India’s drone market is predicted to jump from USD 2.71 billion in 2022 to USD 13 billion by 2030.

Sumit, who learned to fly drones for Rs 15,000 at a school in Delhi, believes drones can do much more than just take photos. He thinks there’s a bright future ahead for drones and plans to start his own drone training school in Varanasi.

Israel Faces Ongoing Threats from Syrian Rebels After Assad’s Ouster

Israel’s Concern Over Syria’s Rebels Remains

Despite the change in leadership in Syria, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warns that Israel still faces threats from the country’s rebels. This warning comes after the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad, leading to new military actions by Israel to protect its borders.

Ahmad al-Sharaa, also known as Abu Mohammed al-Golani, who now leads the rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), claims that Israel is using fake reasons to justify its attacks in Syria. Although he says he wants to focus on rebuilding Syria rather than getting into new fights, he acknowledges the ongoing tensions.

Since the leadership change, Israel has entered a demilitarized area established after the 1973 war, including the Mount Hermon region that overlooks the capital, Damascus. Israel insists that its presence there is temporary, aimed at ensuring security and preventing attacks. They have conducted numerous airstrikes on military targets in Syria to eliminate weapons that could be used against them.

Some Arab nations, like Saudi Arabia and Jordan, have criticized Israel’s actions in the Golan Heights border area. Sharaa noted that Syria still needs to focus on recovery and stability instead of starting new conflicts, suggesting that diplomatic talks are the best path to peace.

India’s Global Role: Minister Jaishankar Highlights Key Changes

On Sunday, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar spoke in Delhi about India’s role in the world. He pointed out that India is becoming a country that others look to for help, even if sometimes it seems shy about doing so. He emphasized that India is often the first to offer assistance when countries around the globe are in need. However, he also said that India still has work to do to correct past mistakes and become a nation with a forward-thinking foreign policy.

Dr. Jaishankar mentioned that although India has faced challenges over the years, it is moving past that “defensive” attitude. He noted, “The time of hiding is over for us.” He shared thoughts on how India’s past, especially during colonial times, led to problems in our connections with other countries, which need to be improved. He believes that future global connectivity will be closely tied to India.

According to the minister, there are currently about 17-18 million Indians working abroad. He believes this number will only grow in the coming years, showing the strength and presence of Indians around the world.
