  • Gaddi Dog: Himalayan Breed Gains Official Recognition in India!

Gaddi Dog: Himalayan Breed Gains Official Recognition in India!

The Gaddi dog, a special breed from the Himalayas that helps shepherds, has been officially recognized by India’s National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR). This makes the Gaddi dog the fourth Indian breed to be recognized, joining the Rajapalayam, Chippiparai, and Mudhol Hound.

On January 6th, the NBAGR informed the Himachal Pradesh government about this decision, giving the breed a special ID number: INDIA-DOG-0600_GADDI_19004. The Himachal Pradesh government’s animal husbandry department applied for this recognition back in December 2022 after a lot of research.

For the past eighteen months, the NBAGR has visited farms and interviewed shepherds to learn about the Gaddi dog’s unique traits. This recognition helps to officially record the Gaddi dog’s features, which helps to keep the breed pure and easy to identify.

The project to officially recognize the Gaddi dog started in 2019 and was led by former Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Vineet Chawdhary. He had the idea back in 2015. A special team at the College of Veterinary and Animal Science (COVAS) at Palampur University took care of Gaddi puppies to study their health and genetics. They also collected information from shepherds all over Himachal Pradesh, which was then sent to the NBAGR. The COVAS team continues to breed Gaddi dogs and gives puppies to shepherds, with a few puppies also available for the public.

“This recognition was long overdue. For me, it’s a dream come true. I am thankful to the faculty and staff of the College of Veterinary Sciences, CSKHPKV, Palampur, for making this happen,” said Chawdhary.

  • Communist Parties Unite to Challenge BJP in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

Communist Parties Unite to Challenge BJP in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

To show that they are working together before the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, the communist parties have decided to support each other. They plan to compete for six assembly seats. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will run for two seats: Karawal Nagar and Badarpur.

On Thursday, Brinda Karat, a leader from CPI(M), announced a slogan: “BJP hatao, Delhi bachao” (defeat BJP, save Delhi). She stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is harming the rights of Delhi’s people, and it is important to stop them.

The three communist parties – CPI(M), CPI, and CPI (Marxist-Leninist) – will each contest two seats. Brinda Karat explained that their main goal is to defeat the BJP. In areas where they are not running, they will decide whom to support based on their analysis.

Karat criticized the BJP, saying that they have taken away some powers from the Delhi government, which the Supreme Court had protected. She believes the BJP is damaging people’s rights in Delhi and must be stopped.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also receiving help from other parties to defeat the BJP in the elections. AAP MP Sanjay Singh claims that his party is the only one capable of defeating the BJP in Delhi. Other parties like Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party are backing AAP in this election.

Although Congress and AAP are both part of a group called the INDIA bloc, they are competing against each other in this election.

The Delhi assembly elections will take place on February 5, and the counting of votes will happen on February 8. Candidates need to file their nominations by January 17, and the last day to withdraw from the race is January 20.

The Congress party previously ruled Delhi for 15 years but has not won any seats in the last two elections. In contrast, the AAP won a huge victory in the 2020 elections, securing 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP managed to win only eight.

  • Biden’s New Sanctions on Russia and Military Aid for Ukraine Explained!

Biden’s New Sanctions on Russia and Military Aid for Ukraine Explained!

This week, President Joe Biden is set to announce new rules to punish Russia’s economy. He wants to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia before Donald Trump becomes president again. Along with these new rules, the Biden team is also getting ready to send $500 million in military aid to Ukraine. This aid will include air defense missiles, bombs for attacking from the air, and equipment for F-16 fighter jets.

Donald Trump, who will become president on January 20, has made some people in Kyiv hopeful that there might be a peaceful end to the fighting, but others are worried that this peace deal could cost Ukraine too much. Some of Trump’s advisers have suggested giving parts of Ukraine to Russia to stop the war.

Biden’s team wants to make sure Ukraine is strong on the battlefield to have a better chance in talks with Russia for peace. There aren’t many details yet about the new rules Biden plans to put in place, but Biden’s team is keeping Trump’s team informed about their plans.

Most of the weapons promised to Ukraine have already been sent, and the rest are on the way. Ukraine now has a good supply of important munitions. President Zelenskiy of Ukraine has often asked for stronger weapons support, which has created some tough talks with the Biden team about tanks, fighter jets, and missiles.

Looking back, a U.S. official said that none of these weapons have given Ukraine the major wins they hoped for on the battlefield. Ukraine might need security promises, including the possibility of joining NATO, to stay safe from Russia after peace talks.

Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Meanwhile, U.S. military officials are closely watching North Korea’s actions in the Ukraine war to learn how to handle any future conflicts in Asia since thousands of North Korean soldiers are believed to support Russia in the war.

The U.S. is also planning to impose more sanctions on Chinese companies that help Russia. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen mentioned last month that the U.S. wants to decrease Russia’s money from oil and limit its access to supplies to support the war.
