  • India Crushes England; Pietersen Slams Players for Lack of Practice!

India Crushes England; Pietersen Slams Players for Lack of Practice!

Team India played really well in the last One Day International (ODI) match against England, winning by a big margin of 142 runs in Ahmedabad. This victory means India won the series 3-0. England had a tough time in all three games, losing by wide margins. To make things worse, Ravi Shastri, the former coach of India, who was commentating during the match, said that the England players only practiced one time during the entire series.

Shastri mentioned on-air, “I heard England had just one practice session the whole trip. If you don’t work hard, you won’t get better.”

Kevin Pietersen, a former captain of England, was shocked by Shastri’s claim. He expressed disbelief after England lost, saying, “I can’t believe these players only practiced once. There’s only one batter—Joe Root—who trained. You cannot come to India and keep making mistakes without practicing.”

He continued, “No athlete goes into a series thinking they’ll improve without practice. I am really surprised that England hasn’t practiced since the first game. That’s unbelievable!”

Pietersen criticized the England players for choosing to play golf instead of going to practice, stating, “I understand you want to have fun, but you’re being paid to win matches, not play golf. This is a cricket tour, not a golf tour. You should leave knowing you gave your best for your team.

He also pointed out that after the series, no England player can say they tried their best in the matches, except maybe Joe Root, who did practice. Pietersen added, “It’s sad that England players did not respect Indian conditions or the game.”

Chicago Faces Major Winter Storm: Snowfall and Safety Tips

Chicago is facing its first big winter storm of the season. On Wednesday, several inches of snow are expected to fall in the area. Some places could get 3 to 6 inches, especially areas close to the Wisconsin border, which may see over 6 inches of snow.

    Weather Advisories
A Winter Weather Advisory is now in place for all of Chicago and nearby counties such as Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Lake, and McHenry in Illinois, plus Lake and Porter in Indiana. This advisory will last from 9 a.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday.

In Wisconsin, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Racine and Kenosha counties from 9 a.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday. Also, some counties in northern Indiana, like DeKalb and eastern St. Joseph, will be under a Winter Storm Watch until 7 a.m. Thursday.

    What to Expect
Meteorologist Tracy Butler warns the main snowfall will start between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. The heaviest snow is likely between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Expect difficult driving conditions during the evening commute, with possible freezing drizzle later on.

    Staying Safe during the Storm
With more snow and ice, local doctors expect more people will visit emergency rooms due to injuries. Dr. Tom King, from Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital, highlights that many injuries happen when people walk their dogs in snowy weather.

Residents like Dave Hauke are getting ready by checking their snow blowers to ensure they work, as they haven’t been used since November.

The Department of Streets and Sanitation and the Chicago Office of Emergency Management advise everyone to drive safely, avoid overnight parking in restricted areas, clear sidewalks of snow, and use warming centers if needed. The Illinois State Police urge drivers to give way to emergency vehicles, especially if there are road accidents.

    What’s Next?
On Wednesday, temperatures will be in the 20s°F (-6 to -1°C), getting colder on Thursday with wind chills between 5°F and -5°F (-15°C to -20°C). Friday will be calm, but we might see more snow on Saturday, so stay tuned!

  • Serena Williams Surprises at Super Bowl: Dancing and Remembering Yetunde Price

Serena Williams Surprises at Super Bowl: Dancing and Remembering Yetunde Price

During the Super Bowl 59 halftime show on Sunday, tennis superstar Serena Williams surprised everyone by joining Kendrick Lamar on stage. As she danced, she appeared to do the Crip Walk, a dance that many on social media linked to the gang that was involved in her sister’s tragic death.

    What is the Crip Walk?
The Crip Walk, or C-Walk, started in the 1970s in Compton, California. It was created by Robert Jackson, a member of the Crips gang, known for their violent actions and crime. Originally, gang members used the dance to show their loyalty to the gang. The dance includes special foot movements, where dancers spell out “C-R-I-P” with their feet. In the past, it was even performed by gang members after committing crimes. Over time, the Crip Walk became popular in hip-hop culture, with famous artists like Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube using it in their performances.

Who Killed Serena Williams’ Sister, Yetunde Price?
Yetunde Price, Serena’s sister, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting in Compton in 2003 when she was just 31 years old. A bullet struck her in the back of the head while she was in her SUV. In a 2007 interview, Serena spoke about the pain of losing her sister, saying, “Yetunde was my closest friend; she even changed my diapers.” Eventually, Serena accepted her sister’s death but still found it hard to discuss.

To honor Yetunde’s memory, Serena and her sister Venus opened the Yetunde Price Resource Center in Compton in 2016. Serena said, “We wanted to remember our sister because she was such a great person. She really meant a lot to us.” They wanted to help others, especially because of the way Yetunde lost her life to violence.

  • Retail Investors Struggle Amid Rising Stock Market Challenges

Retail Investors Struggle Amid Rising Stock Market Challenges

India’s stock market is in a tricky spot, and regular investors are seeing lower returns than what big numbers suggest. A report from Kotak Institutional Equities shows that, even though the Nifty 50 and Sensex indices are looking stable, many retail investors who bought stocks at high prices have lost money.

The report says that relying on headline numbers can be misleading because many investors jumped in when prices were high and added more money during market peaks. Plus, costs like taxes and trading fees have made things worse for regular investors.

Currently, the Nifty 50 has a slight positive return of 6% over the last year, but it has dropped 5% in the last six months and 4% in the last three months. Smaller companies (midcap and smallcap) are struggling even more, with drops of 11% and 13% during the same period.

In 2024, more people started investing, with mutual fund investors increasing from 45 million at the end of 2023 to 53 million by December 2024. However, many new investors, especially those in trendy stocks, have faced difficulties, and several of these popular stocks have dropped sharply.

Both the Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex have fallen about 12.4% and 11.5% from their highest points. Experienced investors might have put in big sums when prices were high, especially in specific funds.

How the Indian stock market performs soon will depend on whether retail investors decide to keep their stocks or sell them if returns remain low. Kotak warns that retail investor behavior in the coming weeks or months will strongly influence the market.

While foreign investors have sold off $28 billion in stocks recently, local institutional investors have picked up much of the selling. Still, it’s unclear how much support retail investors can give to keep stock values stable.

  • Trump’s Comments on Meghan Markle Spark Controversy — What’s Next?

Trump’s Comments on Meghan Markle Spark Controversy — What’s Next?

This week, British writer Esther Krakue shared her thoughts on Sky News Australia about how everyone in Britain seems to be laughing after former US President Donald Trump called Meghan Markle “terrible.” He made the comment while joking about Prince Harry. Even if many people found this funny, it’s reported that Meghan was really hurt by the remarks.

Meghan and Harry tried to prove that their marriage is strong despite rumors, but it hasn’t helped their reputation much. Recently, they were seen together at the Invictus Games in Vancouver, which was a nice moment for them. In a surprising twist, Trump said he wouldn’t push for Prince Harry’s deportation over immigration issues. However, he called Prince Harry “whipped” and joked that he is “being led around by the nose” by Meghan.

Many people in Britain seemed to enjoy Trump’s comments because Meghan has previously criticized him for being divisive and misogynistic. Royal author Ingrid Seward mentioned that many people secretly agreed with Trump, but calling someone “terrible” publicly is still very hurtful.

There’s speculation about whether Meghan and Harry will respond legally to Trump’s comments, but it’s suggested they should stay calm and find a way to make a joke out of it instead. Even though some people found Trump’s words entertaining, it’s also a bit sad. The focus is back on Prince Harry’s immigration case since Trump became president again.

NCW Reacts to Ranveer Allahbadia’s Comments: Apoorva Mukhija’s Police Statement

The controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent has intensified after the National Commission for Women (NCW) expressed strong concern over hurtful comments from Ranveer Allahbadia and others on the show. The Mumbai police visited the YouTuber’s home on Tuesday. On Wednesday, comedian and influencer Apoorva Mukhija reported to the Khar police station in Mumbai to give her statement.

In a video shared by ANI, Apoorva was seen leaving the police station surrounded by reporters who wanted to know more about the case. She covered her face with a mask and went directly to her car without making any comments.

Apoorva Mukhija shows up at Khar police station today in connection with the India’s Got Latent case. A complaint has been filed against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the show’s organizers for allegedly using inappropriate language during the episode that triggered widespread outrage. The NCW has summoned them to appear in person for a hearing on February 17 at 12 PM in New Delhi.

Maharashtra’s chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, was also queried about the podcaster’s comments by reporters. He stated, “I’ve learned about it, though I haven’t watched it yet. Some things were said and shown in a misleading way. Everyone has the right to speak, but that freedom ends when it restricts the freedom of others.”
