India’s Stunning 3-0 Defeat to New Zealand: Ranatunga Weighs In

Last year, India faced a surprising defeat in Test cricket at home against New Zealand. This was a big shock because New Zealand had never won more than one Test match in India before, with their last victory all the way back in 1988. They ended up beating India 3-0 in a series that many thought India would win easily.

Former Sri Lankan cricket captain, Arjuna Ranatunga, who led his team to victory in the 1996 World Cup, believes his team could have defeated India too if they played in India. He said that with great bowlers like Chaminda Vaas and Muttiah Muralidaran, it would have taken his team just three days to win.

Rohit Sharma’s India was expected to reach the World Test Championship final for the third time in a row at the start of the series. Instead, they struggled and lost to Australia later, which meant they missed the final for the first time ever.

Before this loss, India had just achieved an incredible victory against Bangladesh, smashing 285 runs for 9 wickets in less than 35 overs, even after a lot of rain had affected the match. This win was their 18th straight Test series victory at home, breaking the record of 10 series that Australia held.

India’s Bold Step: Aiming for Lymphatic Filariasis-Free Nation by 2027

The Indian government is working hard to make our country free from a disease called Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) by 2027. Health Minister J P Nadda shared this exciting news during a video meeting with health leaders from 13 states where LF is common.

Starting February 10, special medicines to prevent LF will be given out for free to over 175 million people living in affected areas. The goal is to have at least 90% of eligible people take these medicines. Nadda explained how LF can make people very sick and lower their quality of life.

He urged everyone, including local leaders and communities, to monitor the program closely and help identify and treat anyone affected by LF. Different government departments are working together on this, making sure all the efforts combine for the best results.

He also mentioned that places called Arogya Mandirs are being set up to help people with LF access better care. These centers will provide kits to help manage symptoms for those suffering from LF. In 2024, many surgeries to treat a condition called hydrocele were successfully performed in affected states.

Nadda concluded by reaffirming India’s strong promise to eliminate LF by 2027, noting it’s a challenge that we need to conquer together. LF, often called “Hathi Paon” or elephantiasis, is a serious illness spread by infected mosquitoes, causing painful swelling in limbs and other serious issues.

Gaurav Taneja Defended After Shark Tank Rejection – Controversial Comments!

Gaurav Taneja, also known as Flying Beast, recently appeared on Shark Tank India Season 4 with his fitness brand, BeastLife, which he co-founded with Raj Gupta. However, the judges, known as ‘sharks,’ didn’t like their pitch and rejected them. After the show, Raj responded to some tough comments made by Anupam Mittal, one of the sharks. He felt that it wasn’t fair to call Gaurav a “terrible entrepreneur,” especially since he works incredibly hard.

In an interview, Raj said, “What Anupam said was really wrong. I saw Gaurav working late into the night and putting in so much effort. It’s not right to put him down like that.” He continued, “People who go on Shark Tank pour their hearts into their businesses. They deserve respect, not harsh criticisms.”

Gaurav and Raj were asking for ₹1 crore for a 1% share in their company, which makes easy-to-digest protein supplements. Anupam Mittal seemed unhappy with their proposal and said to Gaurav, “You’re a great influencer, but you can’t just let others handle the business for you.”

Gaurav later explained on his YouTube channel that the ₹1 crore he mentioned wasn’t personal income but the total revenue of the business, not the profit.

Supreme Court Urges Focus on Basic Needs Over Cycle Tracks

On Monday, the Supreme Court of India said it won’t hear a case about building special paths for bicycles. The judges, Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan, told the person who filed the case that we need to fix our priorities first. They pointed out that many people in the country live in very bad conditions and need basic things like affordable housing and clean drinking water.

The judges said, “Go and see how people in slums live,” highlighting that focusing on cycle tracks is not what we should be thinking about right now. They reminded everyone that we should care about Article 21 of the Constitution, which is about the right to live with dignity.

The person who filed the case, Davinder Singh Nagi, wanted to create cycle tracks all over India and mentioned that some places already have them. His lawyer said there’s even a bike path near the Supreme Court. However, the judges stressed that the government is closing down schools and many people lack clean water, so we shouldn’t be worrying about bike paths at this moment.

  • AAP Leaders Meet to Discuss Future After Delhi Election Setback

AAP Leaders Meet to Discuss Future After Delhi Election Setback

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is meeting with Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other party members in Delhi on Tuesday. This meeting comes after AAP faced a big loss in the recent Delhi elections, where they only won 22 out of 70 seats, while the BJP won 48 seats. Many people are feeling uncertain about AAP, especially in Punjab, where some Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) seem unhappy with the party’s leadership.

Malvinder Singh Kang, an AAP member of Parliament, said the meeting is just a regular strategy discussion, not an emergency. He explained that feedback from each unit helps the party plan for the future. They will look at the Delhi election results and plan for the next Punjab elections in 2027.

Even though AAP did very well in Punjab in 2022 by winning 92 out of 117 seats, there are worries that the party might not be as strong now. Some rumors suggest that AAP leaders from Delhi are still making too many decisions for Punjab. There is even talk that Kejriwal might want to play a bigger role in Punjab politics, especially with a vacant assembly seat in Ludhiana.

If Kejriwal decides to run for that seat, it could change things. The recent defeat in Delhi has raised concerns about AAP’s future, leading some opposition leaders to predict trouble for AAP in Punjab as well, especially since only three of AAP’s 13 candidates won in the Lok Sabha elections.

The results of Tuesday’s meeting are important for the party’s next steps and its stability in Punjab, which is the only state where AAP is currently in power.

  • Shardul Thakur’s Brilliant Performance in Ranji Trophy Quarterfinal

Shardul Thakur’s Brilliant Performance in Ranji Trophy Quarterfinal

Shardul Thakur shone in the Ranji Trophy with an amazing six-wicket haul during the quarterfinal match against Haryana. The fast-bowling all-rounder, who has been out of the Indian cricket team, is showing he deserves to return for the upcoming test series. The 33-year-old star has been performing well with both bat and ball for Mumbai in recent Ranji Trophy matches, catching the eye of the BCCI selectors and coaches due to his important contributions.

In the quarterfinal, Shardul’s impressive bowling helped Mumbai take control of the game. He claimed the first wicket by getting Haryana opener Lakshhya Dalal out for 34 runs. Later, he took down the last five batters for Haryana, completely changing the game’s momentum. Shardul bowled with great accuracy, which troubled the Haryana batsmen and led to several leg-before-wicket dismissals.

Mumbai managed to dismiss Haryana for 301 runs, after scoring 315 in their first innings. Fans on social media praised Thakur’s performance and suggested he should be picked for the upcoming tour to England in the summer. After a tough season in limited-overs cricket, where his economy rate was high, Thakur found his form again in the Ranji Trophy.

He explained that the conditions were challenging during the T20 and one-day tournaments. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 10 wickets in seven matches, and in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was one of the top wicket-takers, finishing with 15 wickets in nine matches, but his economy was high.

Since the Ranji Trophy resumed, he has been outstanding, taking eight wickets in his last game against Meghalaya, including a first-innings hat-trick. His fantastic bowling helped Mumbai win by an innings and 456 runs, putting them at the top of their group.

Shardul Thakur received the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his four-wicket performances in both innings and for scoring 84 runs in the first innings. He showcased his hitting ability with a remarkable 84 runs off just 42 balls.

With his six-wicket haul against Haryana, Shardul has now taken a total of 30 wickets this season, with an average of 23.95 and best bowling figures of 6 for 58. In nine innings with the bat, he has scored 396 runs at over 40 runs per innings, including one century and three fifties.

  • Father of Shraddha Walker Dies Amid Fight for Justice

Father of Shraddha Walker Dies Amid Fight for Justice

Vikas Walker, the father of Shraddha Walker, has sadly passed away at his home in Vasai West after suffering a heart attack. For three years, he dedicated his life to seeking justice for his daughter, who was killed by her partner, Aftab Poonawalla, in a horrifying case that shocked the nation in 2022.

When Vikas was found unresponsive, his family rushed him to the hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival. Shraddha, just 28 years old, was brutally murdered and chopped into pieces by Aftab in their rented apartment in Delhi.

Vikas was in constant contact with the police, trying to get updates about the investigation into his daughter’s murder. Since Shraddha’s tragic death, he focused on raising awareness about violence against women and even started a non-profit organization in 2024. This group helps women in abusive relationships by providing legal advice and support.

    What Happened to Shraddha?

The story of Shraddha Walker’s murder is shocking. Aftab, her live-in boyfriend, allegedly killed her during an argument on May 18, 2022, then dismembered her body into 35 pieces. He kept the body parts in a refrigerator and later threw them away in nearby forests.

Aftab planned the murder carefully, even studying human anatomy to help him cut up the body. He misled the police by saying Shraddha had left their home on May 22 and hadn’t been seen since. However, police found evidence that showed she was still with him after that date, including bank transactions and messages.

When shown the proof, Aftab finally confessed to the murder. Bloodstains were also found in his kitchen, indicating something terrible had happened there. He was inspired by crime shows, which gave him ideas on how to hide the crime.

Vikas Walker demanded the death penalty for Aftab. He also raised concerns about a “love jihad” angle because of the couple’s different religious backgrounds, which had worried Shraddha’s family. They met on a dating app in 2019 and ran away to Delhi together. Vikas reported her missing after she stopped posting on social media and he couldn’t reach her.

  • Small-Cap SIP Investors Face Losses: What You Need to Know!

Small-Cap SIP Investors Face Losses: What You Need to Know!

Many small-cap mutual fund investors are facing big losses. Since the Nifty index reached its highest point in September 2024, all 29 small-cap mutual fund schemes have delivered negative returns. Some investors have seen losses of up to 46% on their investments through Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs).

For example, Mahindra Manulife Small Cap Fund had the largest loss, with a drop of about 45.52%. If someone invested Rs 1,000 each month in this fund, their total value would now be just Rs 4,473. Other funds, like Aditya Birla SL Small Cap Fund and Tata Small Cap Fund, lost around 42% and 41%, respectively.

Even Nippon India Small Cap Fund, which is the biggest in terms of money managed, saw a loss of 38.88%. HSBC Small Cap Fund was not far behind, losing about 38.69%.

The Nifty50 index peaked at 26,277.35 in September 2024, but it has since dropped about 10%. During this time, experts warn that it can be risky to invest in small-cap stocks, especially when the market is showing signs of being expensive.

S Naren, a respected investment expert, explained the dangers of choosing the wrong mutual funds at bad times. He suggests that unless investors hold on to their SIPs for a long time—like 20 years—they may struggle to see returns. Instead, he recommends investing in large-cap or mixed-cap funds that have a better chance of performing well.
