Torres Investment Scam: New Developments Link to Bulgaria

The Mumbai police are investigating a big fraud case involving Torres investment, and new information has come to light. Some people involved are now wanted for starting similar scams in Bulgaria. So far, the police have caught six people, but nine more are still on the run—eight from Ukraine and one from Turkey.

This scam tricked over 12,700 people out of a massive Rs 130 crore (that’s 1.3 billion rupees)! The police are working hard to check out these new schemes in Bulgaria, as the suspects are supposedly using a different company name. If they confirm this information, they will inform the police in Bulgaria for further action.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has managed to recover property worth Rs 35 crore, including cash! They are also asking the court to sell various items like cars and furniture that were used by the scam company. If the auction goes well, they hope to return around Rs 40 crore to the victims of the fraud.

The company behind this mess, Platinum Hern Pvt Ltd, which owns the Torres jewelry brand, is accused of tricking investors with fake promises of high returns using Ponzi schemes and multi-level marketing (MLM) tricks.

Stock Market Holiday Alert: Trading on Feb 19 and Market Trends

The Indian stock market, which includes the BSE and NSE, will take a break on February 19 to celebrate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. While buying and selling shares will still happen as usual on that Wednesday, there won’t be any clearing or settling of stock and money transactions. Trading in stocks, derivatives, and securities lending will continue, but the current and auction markets will be closed all day.

If you made money or sold your investments on February 18 and 19, you can take out the profits by Thursday, February 20.

On Tuesday, the Indian markets didn’t change much and ended flat after some sharp drops recently. This was mainly due to worries about high prices, bad earnings reports, and money leaving the country. The Nifty 50 index decreased 0.06% to 22,945.30, and the BSE Sensex was down 0.04% to 75,967.39.

Currently, the Nifty 50 is about 13% lower than its highest point in September 2024 and has fallen by 3% so far in 2025. This is largely because of low company earnings, foreign investors pulling out, slowing growth in India, and uncertainty in global trade.

Foreign investors, who usually invest a lot in big companies, have sold $12 billion worth of Indian stocks in 2025 alone.

  • Who Will Replace Bumrah in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy Squad?

Who Will Replace Bumrah in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy Squad?

As India approaches the 2025 Champions Trophy, one big question is who will support Mohammed Shami in fast bowling now that Jasprit Bumrah can’t play due to injury. Harshit Rana has been added to the squad as Bumrah’s replacement, but Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting believes that Arshdeep Singh should take that important spot in the team.

Ponting highlighted that Arshdeep’s left-arm bowling makes him special. “I would choose Arshdeep to replace Bumrah. He has been fantastic in T20 cricket. His skills are similar to Bumrah’s, especially when bowling with the new ball and during the last overs, which are really important,” Ponting said.

While he praised Harshit Rana’s talent, Ponting thinks that Arshdeep is better at bowling in those crucial final moments of the game. “Having a left-armer who can swing the new ball is really important, especially in big tournaments when there are lots of right-handed batsmen,” he added.

With Bumrah out, pressure is now on Shami to step up. Bumrah’s absence is seen as a big loss for India, as he’s been a key player in the bowling lineup for years. However, ex-India pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji believes Shami can fill this gap. “Shami outperformed Bumrah in the 2019 and 2023 World Cups. While Bumrah is a top bowler, Shami has a lot of experience. Before Bumrah came, Shami was the main bowler for India,” Balaji said.

The concern for India is that Shami hasn’t been in great form in recent matches since returning from a long injury break.

  • New Map Reveals Horrifying Impact of Nuclear Attack on the U.S.

New Map Reveals Horrifying Impact of Nuclear Attack on the U.S.

A new map shows that if a nuclear attack happened, 75% of people in the United States—up to 250 million—could be killed instantly. The team at Halcyon Maps created this scary map using information from FEMA, which helps with emergency situations. They looked at how far the blast would go, how radiation spreads, and where people live.

The map reveals that the most crowded spots in the U.S., like big cities on the East Coast, Midwest, West Coast, and the South, would be the main targets. States like California and much of the East Coast would face dangerous radioactive fallout. Survivors might have to stay in shelters for over three weeks to avoid the harmful effects of radiation.

Very few areas, like parts of western Texas, Nevada, Michigan, and Wisconsin, would initially survive the attack. But those places wouldn’t be safe for long because of something called nuclear winter. People exposed to high radiation could experience serious health problems like nausea, fatigue, skin burns, and in some cases, it could be deadly.

The map also points out over 100 military sites, especially missile silos in states like Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, and North Dakota, which are likely first targets in an attack. Missiles from Russia and China can reach the U.S. in just 30 minutes, and if launched from a submarine close to U.S. borders, they could hit in as little as 15 minutes.

Right now, Russia has 5,580 nuclear warheads, more than the U.S.’s 5,044, while China has between 500 and 600. Experts say the chances of nuclear war have gone up a lot in recent years because the U.S. and Russia have stopped following important agreements to control nuclear weapons.

Dr. John Schuessler from Texas A&M University said that Americans are right to be worried about the U.S. getting involved in international conflicts, but luckily, the U.S. has mostly avoided wars in Europe and the Middle East so far.

  • Jennifer Lopez’s Tough Times: Razzie Nomination and Divorce Heartbreak

Jennifer Lopez’s Tough Times: Razzie Nomination and Divorce Heartbreak

Jennifer Lopez, 55, is celebrating the success of her film “Kiss of the Spider Woman” at the Sundance Film Festival, but she’s also dealing with some tough news. She just got a nomination for a Golden Raspberry Award, also known as a Razzie, which recognizes the worst movies of the year. This is not good for her, especially after her recent disappointments with her own film “This Is Me… Now” and the sad news of having to cancel some tour dates because not enough tickets were sold.

Despite these setbacks, J.Lo is focusing on her children. She told her fans that she needs to spend more quality time with them right now. But sources close to her say she’s feeling really hurt about the Razzie nomination. An insider said, “Jennifer is taking it very badly. She feels like she can’t catch a break. Last year was really tough for her.”

This nomination feels especially embarrassing for her because she recently went through a tough time in her marriage with Ben Affleck. The source also mentioned that her ego is feeling a bit crushed.

Even with all this going on, Lopez feels good about her work in “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” In interviews, she talked about how the movie’s story of love and strength really touched her heart. She believes in the movie’s message that love can help us get through hard times.

Lopez has always dreamed of making a big MGM musical, and she finally got her chance. She said, “I’ve been waiting my whole life to do this.” She is excited about the strong message of love in the movie.

Even though her marriage to Affleck ended, Lopez is looking for a new home close to him in Brentwood, California. Sources say she isn’t ready to completely leave him behind and hopes to stay nearby. This shows that she still has feelings for him. The source said, “Jennifer acts like she is okay with how things are now, but she is still very much in love with Ben.”

  • Viral Moment: Two Tigers Become ‘Guards’ of Anti-Poaching Camp!

Viral Moment: Two Tigers Become ‘Guards’ of Anti-Poaching Camp!

Tigers have always fascinated people online, whether it’s because of their amazing looks or their surprising moments with humans. Recently, a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer named Susanta Nanda caught everyone’s attention with a cool photo of a tiger that he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

On Tuesday, Nanda shared a picture showing a tiger sitting quietly at the entrance of an anti-poaching camp deep in the forest. It looked as if the tiger was watching over the area. In a funny twist, Nanda called the tiger the “original guard” of the jungle.

While many admired the photo, sharp-eyed viewers noticed something interesting: there was a second tiger resting under the trees in front of the camp. This made people correct Nanda’s caption, suggesting it should say “Guards of the forest” instead of just one guard.

The special moment caught on camera made social media come alive with excitement. Within just a few hours, the post received over 10,000 views, and many users started sharing their thoughts about it.

The comments were filled with wonder and humor. One user excitedly wrote, “Wow… love this :),” while another jokingly said, “I am sitting in my house, what’s your problem?” Some people praised the view, calling it “majestic” and “so beautiful.” Others pointed out the need to change the caption to include both tigers, with one user saying, “It should be ‘Guards’ instead of ‘Guard’.” Another playful comment wondered if the tiger was “waiting for his spouse.”

  • Tesla Chooses Locations for Showrooms in India: New Delhi and Mumbai!

Tesla Chooses Locations for Showrooms in India: New Delhi and Mumbai!

Elon Musk’s car company, Tesla, is excited to open two new showrooms in India. One showroom will be in New Delhi near the airport, and the other will be in Mumbai’s busy Bandra Kurla Complex. This move comes after Tesla had paused its plans to enter the Indian market last year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met with Elon Musk in the United States to talk about electric cars, technology, and even space!

The showrooms will each be about 5,000 square feet in size. However, Tesla plans to sell imported electric vehicles (EVs) and these showrooms will not have service centers. They are still deciding when to open the new showrooms.

Tesla is also looking to hire new staff in India for different positions, such as store and customer relationship managers. Elon Musk has expressed his concerns about India’s high taxes on electric cars, which are around 100%. Local car makers worry that Tesla’s entry could affect their business. Last week, during a meeting in Washington, President Trump also pointed out India’s high car taxes but agreed with PM Modi to work on a trade deal.

  • Hamas to Release Israeli Hostages and Bodies Amid Ongoing Ceasefire Talks

Hamas to Release Israeli Hostages and Bodies Amid Ongoing Ceasefire Talks

In a surprising announcement, a leader from Hamas said the group will let go of six Israeli hostages on Saturday and return the bodies of four others on Thursday. This includes the Bibas family, who many Israelis see as a symbol of the hostages’ suffering in Gaza.

Israel is very worried about a woman named Shiri Bibas and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, but they have not confirmed if they are dead. Hamas claims they were killed in an Israeli airstrike early in the conflict. Kfir, who was just 9 months old at the time, was the youngest hostage taken during Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023. A video showed Shiri wrapping her boys in a blanket before armed men took them.

Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya said in a recorded message that the Bibas family’s bodies would be part of the handover, which is the first under the current ceasefire agreement. The six living hostages being freed on Saturday are the last ones to be released during this first part of the ceasefire. Initially, only three were supposed to be released, but Hamas changed the plan.

It is unclear why this change happened, but an anonymous Israeli official said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to allow much-needed mobile homes and construction supplies into Gaza to help speed up the hostages’ release. Last week, Hamas threatened to delay the release of the hostages because Israel had not allowed these items into Gaza, among other claimed violations of the ceasefire.

The release of hostages has been part of an agreement where Israel releases hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Since the ceasefire started in mid-January, the fighting between Israel and Hamas has lessened, allowing aid to flow into Gaza and many Palestinians to return to their homes as Israeli forces pulled back.

Next, both sides need to talk about a second, more challenging phase, where Hamas will free more hostages in exchange for a longer ceasefire and Israel leaving Gaza. However, Israel says it wants to destroy Hamas’ military and government power in the region. Hamas has reestablished its control during the ceasefire, despite losing some leaders and fighters.

Also, a new proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump suggests moving Palestinians out of Gaza so the U.S. can develop the area, but this has been rejected by Arab nations and the Palestinians, who fear they won’t be allowed to return. Israel supports this idea and claims they have common goals in the conflict.

Many Israelis were shocked when three very thin hostages were seen in an earlier release this month. News that some hostages were kept alone, barefoot, or in chains has increased pressure on Netanyahu’s government to move forward with the next part of the ceasefire. Families are worried that time is running out, especially with the news about the Bibas family.

President Approves Legal Action Against AAP Leader Satyendra Jain

President Draupadi Murmu has given the green light for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to take legal action against Satyendra Jain, a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former minister in Delhi. This is related to a money laundering investigation tied to the now-canceled Delhi excise policy.

Just last week, the Home Ministry approved the ED’s request to prosecute Jain. They also asked the President for permission to start legal proceedings against him. Jain may face charges based on the information collected by the ED, which claims to have found enough evidence against him.
