  • Arati Kadav’s ‘Mrs’: A Fresh Take on Feminism in Film

Arati Kadav’s ‘Mrs’: A Fresh Take on Feminism in Film

New Delhi: Arati Kadav took on the big job of remaking the popular film “The Great Indian Kitchen” into Hindi, calling it “Mrs.” She aimed to keep the strong feminist message while sharing her own experiences as a woman. The movie stars Sanya Malhotra as Richa, a dancer who enters an arranged marriage but feels trapped in endless kitchen chores. People have praised the film for its good adaptation.

In an interview, Kadav talked about how “The Great Indian Kitchen” tells a strong story about the lives of women like our mothers and aunts. She believed it was important to tell this story responsibly. Kadav said, “I treated the original like a book.”

In “Mrs,” Richa faces criticism for tasting food while cooking, which comes from Kadav’s personal memories. The film includes many real-life stories from women, keeping some scenes from the original, like the leaking kitchen pipeline, which symbolizes patriarchy. Kadav said, “This film is not just about what is said, but what is meant… The pipeline represents an old problem that needs fixing.”

Kadav emphasized the loneliness many women feel, adding quiet moments to show their struggles. Unlike the original, which looked down on the story, she gave Richa a name to connect more deeply with her emotions. She told how important it is for women to return to cooking, even after they have faced emotional challenges.

Kadav called “Mrs” very personal, sharing the complicated sides of gender issues as a woman in her 40s. She praised Sanya Malhotra’s performance, saying, “She truly lived every moment of that character, even feeling the emotional weight.” Making the film was a careful process filled with love and responsibility.

Kadav started as a director’s assistant and worked on short films before her debut with “Cargo,” which mixed mythology with science fiction. She mentioned how people often see early filmmaking as just a hobby. She’s already written a new story and hopes to turn it into a movie with help from producer Deepa Motwane.

“I like to take my time creating my shots. I prefer making feature films instead of quick series,” Kadav shared.

  • Fakhar Zaman Injured as Pakistan Faces New Zealand in ICC 2025 Opener!

Fakhar Zaman Injured as Pakistan Faces New Zealand in ICC 2025 Opener!

Pakistan was excited to host the ICC tournament for the first time in almost 30 years, but the start wasn’t great. In the first match against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi, opener Fakhar Zaman got hurt right away.

Just two balls into the game, New Zealand’s Will Young hit the ball to the outfield. Fakhar rushed to stop it and dived, but he landed awkwardly and seemed to hurt either his knee or back. He looked really hurt and had to leave the field for treatment. Kamran Ghulam took his place as the substitute fielder.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Fakhar had a “muscular sprain” and is being checked to see how serious it is. He has had injuries before, including knee surgery and hamstring problems, which kept him sidelined in the past.

“It’s a real shame if Fakhar is hurt, especially since he’s a key player for Pakistan in ODIs,” commented Ramiz Raja during the game. Ian Smith added, “It’s very unlucky for him. Fakhar has been in great form. If he can’t play later, it will be a big loss for the team.”

Pakistan is the defending champion after beating India in the last final in 2017. Meanwhile, India is playing its matches in the UAE because of travel restrictions from their government.

New Zealand comes into this tournament confident after winning the tri-nation series against Pakistan and South Africa just last week. Even though they’ve lost two main fast bowlers to injury, their other players, especially their spinners, are performing well.

New Zealand missed one of their batters, Rachin Ravindra, for this game as he’s still recovering from an injury to his forehead. On the other hand, Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf, who missed the last two games due to a side strain, has passed his fitness test and is back in the team instead of allrounder Faheem Ashraf.

On Wednesday, Priyanka wore a comfy grey jumpsuit, a matching cap, and black sunglasses. After getting out of the car with Malti, a fan asked for a selfie. Priyanka politely said, “I’m so sorry, I can’t take pictures; I’m with the baby.” The fan seemed a bit sad but then said, “I love you, Priyanka,” which made her smile.

Kaya Walker Resigns as NYU College Republican President Over Barron Trump Comments

Kaya Walker, who was the president of the College Republicans at NYU, stepped down after making some comments about Barron Trump, the president’s son. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she described Barron, who’s 18 and attends NYU, as “sort of like an oddity on campus.”

Walker later said she regrets her decision to resign. “I’ve worked really hard to support conservative ideas at NYU. Being a Republican here can be tough,” she explained. “I put so much effort into building up my club, and we’ve seen a lot more students joining and having fun this past year.”

In the Vanity Fair article, Walker said Barron’s classmates told her he didn’t interact much on campus. “He goes to class, and then he goes home,” she added.

Walker mentioned that her comments were taken out of context. She told the NY Post, “They made it seem like I was saying Barron was strange for commuting to school, which is not what I meant at all. I commute too!”

Barron lives with his family in a different part of New York City and travels to school from their home instead of living on campus.

After the comments, the College Republicans of America criticized Walker, saying her words didn’t match their values and that they were inappropriate. Will Donahue, the CRA president, said chapter leaders should be careful when talking to “left-wing journalists” like Vanity Fair, warning that they often twist what people say.

He confirmed that the CRA advised Walker to resign, but he also said she made the choice herself. The College Republicans group has over 200 chapters across the country, including one at NYU.

Assam CM Defends Actions Amid Controversy Over Congress MP’s Wife

Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has spoken out about a controversy involving Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his British wife, Elizabeth Colburn. Sarma insists he is not targeting Gogoi but is focused on national security. He strongly defended his actions, saying, “You will be shocked in the coming months. This is not a witch hunt. I promise to protect our country’s safety.”

Sarma and the BJP have been questioning Gogoi about his wife’s supposed links to Pakistan’s ISI agency. Sarma emphasized that his duty is higher than politics and personal relationships. He takes an oath to safeguard India’s security and sovereignty.

Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi reacted to Sarma’s statements, saying that the people of Assam won’t believe the government’s claims. He promised that they will respond to what he called “political tricks” soon.

Gogoi, who is also concerned about losing the upcoming assembly elections, criticized Sarma’s actions and said they are extreme. Recently, Assam Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into comments made by a Pakistani national, Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, who discussed Assam’s and India’s internal matters on social media. Sheikh was charged under various laws.

Despite earlier tensions, the Assam Cabinet decided not to file any charges against Gogoi or his wife but asked the Director General of Police to take action against Sheikh.

Sarma has softened his stance on Gogoi, suggesting that he might be under pressure in a larger plot against India. He also mentioned serious accusations against Gogoi, saying he has raised questions in Parliament on sensitive defense issues after marrying Colburn.

Gogoi dismissed the allegations about his wife’s connections with ISI as ridiculous and said he and his family are facing unfair defamation by the BJP. He vowed to take legal action against these claims.

  • Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Nadaaniyan Promo Video Sparks Mixed Reactions

Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Nadaaniyan Promo Video Sparks Mixed Reactions

Ibrahim Ali Khan, the son of famous actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, will be making his acting debut in a new Netflix movie called Nadaaniyan. This romantic drama will also feature Khushi Kapoor in a leading role. Recently, both actors shared a fun promotional video online to build excitement for their upcoming film.

However, some viewers found their acting too exaggerated and cringey, leading to mixed reactions on social media. In the video, Khushi humorously shows Ibrahim trying to talk to her, but she ignores him because the shoot is over, which makes him sad. Khushi captioned the video with “#Galatfehmi,” playing off the title of a song from their movie.

Many people shared their opinions online, with some questioning the promotional strategy. One commenter said, “This is the cringe-kind of promotion,” and others expressed concern that the video might not appeal to their target audience. Some felt that Ibrahim’s star power is fading and criticized the trend of “nepo kids” (children of famous people) not showing much talent.

A few comments suggested that Ibrahim and Khushi should have better support teams to help with their public image. One person humorously noted, “It’s funny how they have so many resources but still struggle with promotion.” Another comment was more critical, saying, “They need to fire anyone who comes up with these ideas!”

About Nadaaniyan, Netflix describes it as a love story about the excitement of first love. The film follows Piya, a bold girl from South Delhi, and Arjun, a hardworking boy from Noida, as they navigate their different worlds and experiences of young love. The film also stars Mahima Chaudhary, Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj, and is produced by Karan Johar’s team. This film is also the first directing job for Shauna Gautam, who previously worked with Karan Johar.
