Viral Video Confuses Haldi Ceremony with Basant Panchami Party in Agra Metro

A social media influencer named Divyata Upadhyay shared a video claiming to find a Haldi ceremony inside an Agra Metro train. In her Instagram video, she showed one train coach that was blocked off with a shiny yellow curtain at the entrance. Upadhyay suggested that the metro was being rented for special events since there weren’t many passengers on the train. She mentioned that although food is usually not allowed on the train, it seemed like a fun idea for celebrations.

After her video went viral, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation responded and clarified that the event was not a Haldi ceremony but a private Basant Panchami party. They stated that no wedding events are allowed on the metro, and they encouraged people not to spread false information.

On their Instagram, the authorities shared pictures from the party, showing women dressed in yellow and enjoying themselves with balloons and kites. They also promoted the metro as a venue for celebrating birthdays and other special occasions, inviting people to book the train for events.

  • Maharashtra’s Women Empowerment Program: What You Need to Know

Maharashtra’s Women Empowerment Program: What You Need to Know

In Maharashtra, a program called the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’ helps many women by giving them monthly money. This program has already given support to about 2.5 crore women, which helped the ruling political alliance in winning the elections in November 2024.

The program gives married, divorced, widowed, or destitute women between the ages of 21 to 65 a monthly aid of Rs 1,500 if their family earns less than Rs 2,50,000 a year. Unmarried women can also receive this aid, with one unmarried woman allowed per family.

According to officials, most beneficiaries—83%—are married women. Unmarried women make up 11.8%, while widows represent 4.7%. Women who are divorced, deserted, or in tough situations make up less than 1%.

The majority of the women who benefit fall in the age group of 30-39 years (29%), followed by those aged 21-29 (25.5%) and 40-49 (23.6%). Only a small number (5%) of beneficiaries are between 60 and 65 years old.

The districts with the most applicants for the scheme are Pune, Nashik, and Ahmednagar, while Sindhudurg and Gadchiroli have the least. The program was started in July last year.

Before the elections, the ruling alliance promised to increase the monthly aid to Rs 2,100. Since taking power, the new government is reviewing the list of beneficiaries, and so far, they’ve removed about five lakh women who no longer qualify. They plan to check more and might cut around 15 lakh women from the program. Women who own cars, work for the government, or receive more than Rs 1,500 from other programs cannot get this aid.

When it started, the program was expected to cost the government Rs 46,000 crore a year and has faced some issues related to dishonesty and political tricks.

  • Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out of Champions Trophy: Impact on Pakistan’s Team!

Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out of Champions Trophy: Impact on Pakistan’s Team!

Big news for Pakistan’s cricket team: they will not have their star player, Fakhar Zaman, for the important match against India. Fakhar hurt his knee while playing against New Zealand in their first match on Thursday. He tried to keep playing but looked really uncomfortable, especially during his batting. He scored only 24 runs off 41 balls and had to get help before he got out.

After the game, Mohammad Rizwan, the captain, said he didn’t know how serious Fakhar’s injury was but confirmed he was in pain. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier said they were watching his muscle sprain closely. However, it now seems that Fakhar’s injury is serious, which means he not only misses the game against India but might also not be ready to play against Bangladesh next week. A reliable source has told Hindustan Times that Fakhar is “almost ruled out” of the tournament.

This news is a relief for the Indian team because Fakhar was the one who scored a century in the 2017 Champions Trophy final and helped Pakistan win against India. He scored 114 runs, leading Pakistan to a big score that India couldn’t match.

To make things worse for Pakistan, they are also missing another player, Saim Ayub, from the tournament. There were concerns about Haris Rauf’s fitness too, but he showed up ready to play against New Zealand.

  • Trump’s Risky Deal: What It Means for Ukraine’s Future

Trump’s Risky Deal: What It Means for Ukraine’s Future

Let’s look at how Donald Trump is thinking about the war in Ukraine. Instead of trying to help Ukraine first, he seems more interested in making friends with Russia. This is a big meeting where Trump talks to Russian leaders but doesn’t include Ukraine, meaning they aren’t really the priority.

Trump even tries to blame Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy for the problems, which seems unfair. It’s strange that Trump started his campaign by making calls to Putin and already offering to give in to many of Russia’s demands about Ukraine before even having real discussions.

For example, Trump suggests that Ukraine should not join NATO and should not get back the land taken by Russia. He even wants Ukraine to have elections during wartime to change leaders, which fits with Russia’s goals. This would make it easier for Russia to control Ukraine.

A man named Kirill Dmitriev, an important Russian businessman, was also present at a meeting in Saudi Arabia. He suggested that Trump is good at fixing problems, but the main problem he wants to fix is how much money the U.S. lost from dealing with Russia because of the war.

When Trump talks about getting $500 billion from Ukraine for resources, it’s not about the exact number. It’s more about making a big claim. In fact, many American companies used to do business in Russia, but a lot have left since the war began.

While Trump negotiates, he talks about lifting economic sanctions on Russia, which he won’t do until there’s a final deal. But this focus seems to benefit Russia more than Ukraine, as he talks about reconnecting economically with Russia first.

While Trump is in Saudi Arabia, he’s pressuring Ukraine to give away a large part of its resources for U.S. military aid, which is something normally forced on defeated countries.

During a press conference, Trump even mocked Zelenskiy saying he should have elections, accusing him of causing the war, even though that’s just not true.

Trump and his supporters seem to see Russia as allies against liberal ideas, while Ukraine is seen as part of a bigger fight for democracy.

In the end, Trump may have a plan to help Ukraine, but right now, it looks like he is more focused on making deals that might hurt Ukraine. His actions make it seem like he sees strong nations as those worth negotiating with, while weaker ones can be taken advantage of.

  • Samay Raina Summoned Over Controversial Comments on ‘India’s Got Latent

Samay Raina Summoned Over Controversial Comments on ‘India’s Got Latent

The Maharashtra Cyber Department has said that YouTuber Samay Raina will get a second summons because of comments he made on a show called “India’s Got Latent.” This follows Raina missing a meeting on February 18 to give his statement.

The Maharashtra Cyber Department stated that they will send the summons today to make sure Raina comes in to give his statement. Earlier, Raina asked if he could do the meeting via video call because he is currently in the United States and can’t return to India until March 17. However, the department denied his request, saying he must come in person.

The problem started when a guest on the show, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, made a very inappropriate comment to a contestant. He asked a question that many people found offensive. This sparked a lot of anger, leading to a formal complaint against Allahbadia, Raina, comedian Apoorva Makhija, and the show’s organizers.

Raina later expressed his regret on Instagram, saying he only wanted to make people laugh. He took all videos of “India’s Got Latent” off his channel and said he would fully cooperate with any investigations.

After the backlash, multiple police reports were filed against those involved in different states, including Maharashtra and Assam. The Chief Minister of Assam confirmed that the police in Guwahati have filed a report against Allahbadia and Raina for promoting inappropriate content.

The Supreme Court also got involved, condemning Allahbadia’s comments. Justices described what he said as “shameful” and warned him not to take his popularity for granted. Allahbadia then asked the Supreme Court to combine the charges against him into one case. The Court agreed to hear his urgent plea and granted him temporary protection from arrest as long as he cooperates with the investigation.

The Court also mentioned that there is a lot of inappropriate content on platforms like YouTube and urged the government to take action against it. Justice Kant said, “We want the government to do something about this issue.”

The Maharashtra Women’s Commission praised the Supreme Court for stepping in and demanding that the show be stopped. Chairperson Rupali Chakankar said the Court’s action was appropriate and needed. The Commission had already requested an investigation into the incident.

  • India and US to Start Talks on Major Trade Deal Next Month!

India and US to Start Talks on Major Trade Deal Next Month!

NEW DELHI: India and the United States are set to start important talks next month to create a new trade deal. This comes after a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump last week. The leaders of both countries want to change how they do business and aim for $500 billion in trade by 2030.

The talks will kick off once the new US Secretary of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative begin their roles. Officials say the goal is to finish a multi-sector trade agreement in about eight to nine months. They want a deal that is fair for both sides, and there’s no plan for a small or partial agreement.

Some areas they will discuss include increasing manufacturing jobs and trading more agricultural products. The US already sells over $4 billion worth of agricultural goods to India each year, and both countries could gain more if they trade even more in this area.

India has a trade deficit of $45.7 billion with the US, meaning it buys more from America than it sells. However, with India’s economy growing fast, demand for US products will increase, helping to balance this trade deficit. The US is currently the fourth-largest supplier of goods to India, following China, Russia, and the UAE, and has the potential to supply more energy.

From April 2024 to January 2025, US imports to India grew by over 6%, rising from $35.46 billion to $37.62 billion. Meanwhile, India’s exports to the US increased by 8.6%, going from $63 billion to $68.47 billion during the same period.

Officials state that the relationship between the US and India is not only about trade. Multiple government departments are working together to improve cooperation, and representatives from both countries are actively collaborating on the details outlined in their recent agreement.
