Sonakshi Sinha Weds Zaheer Iqbal: Family Reactions and Love Story Revealed!

After being together for over seven years, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married in June. One interesting thing about the wedding was that Sonakshi’s brothers, Luv and Kussh, didn’t attend. Her dad, Shatrughan Sinha, talked about this in an interview.

When asked if he supported his daughter’s choice to marry someone from a different faith, he said, “Of course, I support my daughter. It’s her life and her wedding. If she loves him and they are sure about each other, who are we to stop it? As a parent, it’s my job to be there for her. We always talk about empowering women, so it’s okay for her to choose her own partner. She didn’t do anything wrong; she’s a grown woman.”

He didn’t explain why her brothers missed the wedding, but he understood their feelings. He mentioned, “I won’t complain. They are just human. Maybe they aren’t mature enough yet. I understand their confusion. In their position, I might have felt the same way. But that’s where age and experience matter. My reaction wasn’t as strong as my sons’.”

Shatrughan shared that he enjoyed the wedding celebrations and loved meeting the guests.

Sonakshi and Zaheer dated for a few years before having a small wedding on the same day they fell in love. They later celebrated with close family and friends. They shared photos from their wedding, saying, “Seven years ago (June 23, 2017), we saw love in each other’s eyes and decided to keep it. That love has helped us through everything to get to today, where we are now married with the blessings of our families.”

Later on, Sonakshi explained why they kept their relationship private. “It’s about ‘nazar’ (evil eye). It’s better to keep some things personal. When you are already in the spotlight, it’s nice to keep something special just for yourself. When we met and fell in love, I realized early on that this was forever.”

IIT Madras Unveils World’s Largest Fetal Brain Image Dataset!

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has just released amazing 3D pictures of the fetal brain! This project is led by a professor named Mohanasankar Sivaprakasam at the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre. The dataset, called ‘DHARANI,’ is open for all researchers around the world to use.

They took 5,132 brain sections using advanced Brain Mapping Technology created in the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre. This research is set to boost the field of Neuroscience and may help in treating brain-related health issues.

Researchers from different countries, including India, Australia, and the U.S., worked together on this project. They collaborated with medical organizations like Mediscan Systems and Saveetha Medical College Hospital based in Chennai.

“DHARANI” has now become the largest digital collection of human fetal brain images that is available to everyone. It was made with much less money than the famous Allen Brain Atlas, and it used unique technology developed in India during the COVID pandemic from 2020 to 2022.

Dr. Suzana Herculano-Houzel, the editor of a neuroscience journal, mentioned that India is now on the same level as the U.S. in mapping the human brain.

This project was supported by organizations like the government of India, Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, and healthcare companies. NVIDIA also helped process the huge amount of data.

Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, expressed his happiness that India is leading the way in creating human fetal brain maps for the first time.

The high-resolution images are essential for improving fetal imaging techniques. This means we can diagnose and treat developmental disorders earlier.

Kris Gopalakrishnan stated that this achievement proves Indian research can make significant scientific and technological advancements. He hopes this will inspire more collaborative research projects in India.

This study is expected to lead to exciting new discoveries, help understand neurodevelopmental disorders, and improve fetal medicine. With this dataset, knowledge about the fetal brain has increased by 20 times!

  • India Safely Evacuates 75 Citizens from Syria Amid Conflict

India Safely Evacuates 75 Citizens from Syria Amid Conflict

On Wednesday, India safely brought home 75 of its citizens from Syria, including 44 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir. This happened after rebel forces took control of Damascus, the capital of Syria. The people evacuated were able to cross over to Lebanon and will return to India on commercial flights, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The evacuation was organized by the Indian embassies in Damascus and Beirut. The Indian government acted after assessing the security situation and receiving requests for help from its nationals in Syria. Among those evacuated were 44 “zaireen”, or pilgrims, who were visiting Sayyidah Zaynab, a significant religious site for Shia Muslims, where many go to seek healing.

The Ministry of External Affairs advised any remaining Indian citizens in Syria to stay connected with the Indian embassy in Damascus. They can reach out via an emergency helpline at +963 993385973 (which is also available on WhatsApp) or email at [email protected] for updates.

The Indian government emphasizes the safety of its citizens abroad and will keep a close watch on the situation. Earlier this week, India, along with other nations, called for peace and stability in Syria after opposition forces overthrew President Bashar al-Assad. The rebel group, mainly Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which was previously linked to al-Qaeda, easily entered Damascus and ended over 50 years of Assad’s rule.

Once, Syria had many Indian families, but due to the ongoing civil war, the number has dropped to about 90. This includes 14 Indians working with various United Nations organizations and NGOs.

  • Apple Watch Ultra 3 to Feature Satellite Texting and Blood Pressure Monitoring

Apple Watch Ultra 3 to Feature Satellite Texting and Blood Pressure Monitoring

Apple is working on an exciting new feature for its Apple Watch Ultra 3, which is its most advanced smartwatch. Next year, this watch will be able to send text messages using satellites. This means if you don’t have a cell phone signal or Wi-Fi, you can still send messages to your friends and family!

Apple will partner with a company called Globalstar Inc. to make this happen. If they succeed, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will be the first popular smartwatch that can use satellite technology. Before this, the iPhone 14 had a similar feature that helps users contact emergency services even when they’re off the grid. Last year, Apple added more options so iPhone 14 users could message roadside assistance too. This year, people can even text anyone using iMessage.

Apple has been working closely with Globalstar and recently invested around $1.5 billion in the company, taking a 20% stake in it. As a result, shares of Globalstar went up about 15% after the news got out, while Apple’s stock rose a little less than 1%.

But that’s not all! The Apple Watch Ultra 3 might also have a new blood pressure feature. This will help users check if they have high blood pressure, which is great for hikers and health-focused people. Although this feature was originally expected to launch this year, it now seems it will come out next year instead.

  • Indian Overseas Bank Gains ₹1,359 Crore Refund and 24% Profit Surge!

Indian Overseas Bank Gains ₹1,359 Crore Refund and 24% Profit Surge!

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) is in the spotlight after getting a big refund! The bank announced that it will receive Rs 1,359.29 crore (over Rs 1,359 million) from the tax department for the assessment year 2015-16. This amount includes extra money for interest as stated in tax law. The refund order was issued on August 17, 2024, and the bank learned about it on December 10, 2024, through the Income Tax Portal.

This refund comes after earlier decisions were made by tax officials in March and December 2023.

In the last three months of 2024, Indian Overseas Bank also reported a big jump in profits. They made Rs 777 crore, which is 24% more than the same time last year when they earned Rs 625 crore. This increase was due to more interest income and new customers. The total interest earned during this period was Rs 6,851 crore, compared to Rs 5,821 crore a year earlier.

The bank’s problems with unpaid loans, known as non-performing assets (NPAs), also improved. The gross NPA dropped to 2.72% from 2.89% in the previous quarter, and the net NPA fell to 0.475%. In simple terms, they are doing better at collecting money owed to them.

As for the stock market, IOB’s shares closed at Rs 56.8, down by 1% recently. However, the stock has risen by 30% in 2024 and has increased by 120% over the past two years, making its total market value Rs 1,07,460 crore.

  • South Korea’s President Yoon Investigated; Police Raid Office

South Korea’s President Yoon Investigated; Police Raid Office

On Wednesday, South Korean police searched the presidential office, as President Yoon Suk Yeol is being investigated for declaring martial law. This decision has raised concerns about his actions, even though he hasn’t been arrested or questioned yet.

The police have also searched other places, including the National Police Agency and the National Assembly Security Service. The top police leaders, including National Police Agency Commissioner General Cho Ji Ho and Seoul’s police chief Kim Bong-sik, are under investigation for helping enforce the martial law last week.

The situation is serious as the main opposition party plans to introduce a new impeachment motion against President Yoon on Saturday. This comes after a previous impeachment attempt failed because ruling party members did not participate in the vote.

The tensions over Yoon’s martial law declaration have caused political chaos, affected international relations, and disturbed financial markets, making many question whether he can finish his term as president.

After the earlier impeachment attempt, a leader from Yoon’s party suggested they might look to hold early elections, hinting that Yoon could be sidelined. This has drawn criticism as many believe it goes against the Constitution, which states that impeachment is the only way to temporarily remove presidential powers. The Defense Ministry confirmed that Yoon is still in charge of the country’s military.

The two detained police leaders are currently being held at a city police station as investigators look into their actions during the martial law situation that started on the evening of December 3.

  • Interstellar’s Box Office Surprise: A 10-Year Celebration

    Interstellar’s Box Office Surprise: A 10-Year Celebration

This past weekend, the hardest movie ticket to get in the U.S. was for a well-known film: Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Even though people have been able to watch it at home for years, this sci-fi masterpiece made $4.5 million with only 166 screenings in the U.S. and Canada. The special 70mm IMAX showings sold out quickly, and some fans paid up to $300 to see it again.

Nolan, who directed Interstellar, was thrilled to see so many fans coming to enjoy his work on the big screen after ten years. “It’s really rewarding to see that it continues to have a life,” he said. He worked hard to make sure Interstellar was filmed using traditional movie film instead of digital because he believed in its quality.

When the movie first came out, it received some criticism but eventually became a classic loved by many. Nolan noticed a lot of young fans who had seen it at home but wanted to experience it in theaters. So, just in time for the movie’s tenth anniversary, Nolan reached out to IMAX and Paramount to arrange a special re-release, and it was a huge success.

This weekend’s turnout showed that movie lovers still value the experience of watching films in theaters. IMAX screens accounted for a significant portion of the film’s earnings, showing that people are eager for that big-screen experience. Fans were quick to buy tickets and even sold out late-night showtimes.

Nolan is excited about the future. He’s currently testing new film technology for his next movie and enjoying movie outings himself. “It was magical to see a full house on that film,” he said.
