Israel Closes Dublin Embassy Over Tensions With Ireland

Israel has decided to close its embassy in Dublin because of Ireland’s strong stance against it. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar mentioned that this action is a reaction to Ireland recognizing Palestine as a state and its support for taking legal steps against Israel.

Back in May, Israel recalled its ambassador from Dublin after Ireland made its statement about Palestine. Recently, Dublin supported South Africa’s claims against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which involves serious accusations like genocide.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris expressed disappointment over Israel’s decision, saying, “I completely disagree that Ireland is anti-Israel. We stand for peace, human rights, and international law.” He emphasized that Ireland wants a solution where both Israel and Palestine can coexist peacefully.

Moreover, Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin stated that while the World Court will decide on allegations like genocide, the attacks by Hamas on October 7 and the events in Gaza reflect a serious violation of humanitarian laws.

In a separate update, Israel’s foreign ministry announced that it will open a new embassy in Moldova.

  • Steve Smith’s Grit: A Century Against Doubt and Struggle

Steve Smith’s Grit: A Century Against Doubt and Struggle

During Day 2 of the Test match in Brisbane, fans saw how Steve Smith has been changing his batting style in different matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. In Perth, he covered his stumps; in Adelaide, he stood at a leg stump, and in Gabba, his stance was more open. He even changed how he moves before hitting the ball. Many people were worried he was struggling. Some thought he was a great player, but his best days were behind him.

At 36 years old, Smith scored 110 runs at Lord’s last June but hadn’t reached 100 runs again in 24 innings. Although he has been considered one of the best players since Don Bradman, many feared his time was over.

For most of the day, it seemed like everyone’s worries about Smith were true. He was missing a lot of balls and getting hit, and runs weren’t coming easily. But he didn’t give up. Great players often show their true character by working hard and trying again.

During one over by Akash Deep, Smith was beaten four times, and bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were challenging him. It was a tough inning, but sometimes great players need a little luck too. Fortunately, that luck helped Smith score a determined century.

“I feel like I’ve been batting well the last month,” he said. “I just stuck to my game plan, and the luck turned in my favor.”

When he started to bat well again, it meant trouble for India. Toward the end of his 101-run effort, he showed some of the old brilliance we all admire. Based on statistics from CricViz, Smith had 20 times when he almost missed hitting the ball, which is one of the highest numbers for him in any home Test.

What about those changes in his batting style? Smith said he’s always been a tinkerer. “I’ve changed my setup in every game for the last 15 years. It isn’t new for me,” he explained. He always seeks the best ways to play according to the pitch, and in this match, he adjusted to tackle the bouncy ball by staying slightly out of the crease.

Despite not scoring centuries for a while, Smith kept his focus and understood that things can change if you work hard. Akash Deep made him miss 28% of the time, while Bumrah and Siraj made him miss too. How did he survive all this? Sometimes on your day, things just work out well. “I’ve played long enough to know that the game turns around,” said Smith. If you work hard, things will improve.

Smith’s journey teaches us a lesson: the only thing we can control is our effort. This is something we see with him and also with players like Virat Kohli. They strive to be the best while also staying focused.

In the end, the day was a testament to Test cricket. It showed us a legend struggling before finding his way again. That fight back is what makes watching cricket special, and it’s worth every moment.

Atul Subhash’s Tragic Death Sparks Nationwide Men’s Rights Protests

On December 9, Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old tech worker in Bengaluru, ended his life, sparking discussions about men’s rights across India. Karnataka’s Home Minister, G Parameshwara, said Atul’s tragic death has brought attention to how men’s rights are often overlooked compared to women’s rights.

Atul, originally from Bihar, left behind a video and a 24-page note blaming his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family for making him feel so hopeless. He mentioned harassment from false legal cases and attempts to extort money from him. Sadly, he had sent his note to a men’s rights group before he died, but help arrived too late.

His death created a wave of anger, with people in cities like Mumbai and Delhi protesting for justice, echoing Atul’s last message: “Justice is Due.” This pressure led the Bengaluru police to search for those he named. The police later found and arrested Nikita in Gurugram and her family in another city.

Atul’s family is also blaming the judge who handled their case. Meanwhile, there’s growing pressure on the tech company Accenture to take action regarding Nikita, who is one of their employees.

Man Severely Injures Himself Due to Work Stress: A Shocking Tale

A 32-year-old computer worker in Surat hurt himself badly by cutting off four fingers on his left hand because he was very stressed at work. At first, he told the police that someone attacked him while he was using the restroom near Vedant Circle. He claimed he lost consciousness during the incident but, after looking into his story, the police found many things that didn’t add up.

His belongings, like his motorcycle, phone, and cash, were untouched, and there was no sign of an attack. When the police confronted him with this evidence, he admitted that he had hurt himself. He explained that he felt trapped in his job since his boss was related to his family. A few days before the incident, he bought a sharp butcher knife and used it to cut off his fingers because he wanted to escape his stressful job.

The police found the knife and his fingers at a place he directed them to. He first cut off three fingers and then cut the fourth one. The man graduated in civil engineering and earned about ₹50,000 a month to support his wife and two-year-old daughter. He said, “I felt really stressed because of work and didn’t want to keep doing it. I took this extreme step to get away from the pressure.” Police said they will not take any legal action against him.

This shocking event comes shortly after a startup faced criticism for reportedly firing workers who complained about stress. The startup, YesMadam, which provides home beauty services, apologized on social media for any confusion. They wrote that they care for their team and would never fire anyone for being stressed. They said the posts were meant to highlight the serious issue of workplace stress and thanked people for their opinions.

D Gukesh: A Chess Champion’s Journey of Joy and Victory

D Gukesh, an 18-year-old chess champion from Chennai, just became a world champion by defeating Ding Liren from China. Winning this title means Gukesh will receive a prize of ₹11.45 crore from FIDE, but that’s not why he plays chess. For Gukesh, chess is about the thrill and happiness it brings him, just like when he was a kid playing with his first chess board.

Gukesh’s parents made many sacrifices to help him succeed. His father, Rajnikanth, stopped working as a doctor to support his son in chess, while his mother, Padmakumari, became the main breadwinner of the family. Gukesh explained that being a multi-millionaire means he can now help his family without them worrying about money.

Even though he has earned a lot, Gukesh insists he plays for the joy of the game. He believes every time he sits at the chess board, he learns something new. “The more you learn about chess, the more you realize how little you know,” he said. For him, both the journey of improving in chess and reaching his goals matter a lot.

Gukesh also shared about how he feels after matches. He likes to win, but he also wants to play well. If he plays beautifully but loses, he feels sad. On the other hand, if he wins without playing great, he feels happier. “My desire to win is stronger than my fear of losing,” he stated.

Outside of chess, Gukesh surprised everyone when he danced after winning a trophy. He joked that now his friends expect him to join them in dancing. He also shared a fun moment eating his favorite South Indian food during the championship and mentioned that he hasn’t had ice cream for a year, but he might treat himself soon!

  • Slow Approval in National Medical Register: Doctors Face Challenges

Slow Approval in National Medical Register: Doctors Face Challenges

Three and a half months after the launch of the National Medical Register (NMR) portal, only about 6,500 doctors have registered, and just 284 have been approved, according to reports. At this slow rate, it could take over 40 years to register all the estimated 12 lakh doctors in India.

The Union Health Minister J P Nadda started the NMR Portal to help register all MBBS doctors who can practice in India. The NMR is special because it uses the doctors’ Aadhaar IDs to confirm their identity. The health ministry said this portal, made together with the National Health Authority (NHA) and the National Medical Commission (NMC), will create a clear and reliable database of doctors.

However, many doctors are having trouble with the registration process. Dr. KV Babu, an eye doctor and RTI activist, expressed his frustration, saying he registered the day after the portal opened. His registration was confirmed by the Kerala State medical council, but for the past 110 days, he’s received confusing questions about his application that delay approval. For example, he was asked about differences in names and told to prove his name matches the one on his Aadhaar card.

A retired doctor from a government college voiced concern about the poor performance of this system, saying, “If they can’t create a database for just 12 lakh doctors, imagine how they will manage for the other 50 lakh healthcare workers who have less regulated training.”

  • TMC Urges Smooth Parliament Session for Constitution Debate

TMC Urges Smooth Parliament Session for Constitution Debate

Derek O’Brien, the leader of the Trinamool Congress in the Rajya Sabha, said on Sunday that his party wants Parliament to work smoothly. He urged the ruling BJP not to disrupt discussions, especially about the Constitution, which they plan to discuss soon.

Last week, there were several interruptions in Parliament, and O’Brien blamed the BJP for making it hard for everyone to talk about important issues affecting the public.

The Rajya Sabha is going to discuss how the Constitution has worked over the last 75 years. This is happening while opposition parties are planning to challenge Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar with a no-confidence motion. The opposition really wants to focus on the Constitution this Winter Session.

During last week’s sessions, Parliament faced multiple disruptions due to various topics like the Adani issue and comments from George Soros, making it hard for the House to operate. O’Brien stated that they want to make sure Parliament runs smoothly so they can address people’s problems. If the BJP doesn’t cause more disruptions, he says they will discuss the Constitution and highlight the BJP’s failures.

About 10 to 11 members from O’Brien’s party will join this discussion and each will speak for 3-4 minutes. They plan to focus on important ideas from the Constitution’s introduction, like equality, justice, and democracy. The TMC has 12 members in the Rajya Sabha, but one member, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, is not participating due to some disagreements with the party.

Tensions rose last Friday when the opposition tried to push for impeaching Dhankhar, leading to a chaotic scene where members clashed. Dhankhar, who identifies as a farmer’s son, asserted he wouldn’t back down.

The debates in the Rajya Sabha will occur on December 16 and 17, with Prime Minister Modi expected to respond on Tuesday. Earlier, the Lok Sabha had its discussions on December 13 and 14, with many opposition members criticizing the BJP for hurting the Constitution. In his defense, Modi accused the Congress party of damaging the Constitution out of a desire for power, claiming his government has worked since 2014 to strengthen and unify India according to the Constitution’s vision.

Prime Minister Modi Remembers Sardar Patel on His Death Anniversary

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. On the social media platform X, he praised Patel, calling him an inspiration for India’s unity and strength. Modi wrote, “Many salutes to the Iron Man of India. His personality and work will inspire us as we strive for a united and developed India.”

Home Minister Amit Shah also shared a tribute on X, celebrating Patel as a symbol of unity. He said, “I remember Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary. He laid the groundwork for modern India by bringing together over 550 princely states into one nation. His commitment to national unity will always guide those who prioritize the country’s interests.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined in by saying, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contributions will never be forgotten. My heartfelt respects to him on this special day. India will always remember his vision and work.”

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, was born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad, Gujarat. He played a vital role in India’s struggle for freedom and helped unify more than 500 princely states after independence. He was also the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. To honor him, the Indian government declared October 31 as National Unity Day in 2014. This day is celebrated across the country with events like ‘Run for Unity’.

Patel passed away on December 15, 1950, from a heart attack at Birla House in Mumbai. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, posthumously in 1991.
