  • Mayawati Demands Apology from Amit Shah Over Ambedkar Comments

Mayawati Demands Apology from Amit Shah Over Ambedkar Comments

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati spoke out against Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. She said his comments in the Rajya Sabha about Dr. BR Ambedkar, the creator of India’s Constitution, were disrespectful and hurtful. Mayawati demanded that Amit Shah apologize for his words.

During a recent press conference in Lucknow, Mayawati expressed her discontent, stating that many of Ambedkar’s followers across India are upset with Shah’s remarks. She mentioned, “Shah’s words have offended Baba Saheb’s dignity and many people are angry. If he doesn’t take back what he said and apologize, his followers will remember this just like they remember the Congress’s wrongdoings against Ambedkar.”

Earlier this week, while discussing the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah remarked that the Congress party uses Ambedkar’s name too often. He said, “It’s become a trend to repeat ‘Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar.’ If they had invoked God’s name that many times, they’d surely find a place in heaven.”

In response, Amit Shah later said that Congress misunderstood his comments. He also pointed out that Ambedkar was not awarded the Bharat Ratna during previous Congress governments, but it was given to him by a government supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1990.

Earlier today, MPs from the opposition party, led by Rahul Gandhi, protested on the Parliament grounds. The BJP also held a protest against what they called an insult to the Dalit leader by Congress.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have kept key players Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal for the IPL 2024 season. However, they let go of popular names like Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell.

During the auction in Jeddah, RCB spent ₹2 crores each on several new players, including Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and English batsman Phil Salt. They also picked up Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and all-rounder Krunal Pandya for the same price. Additionally, they brought in Tim David and former player Devdutt Padikkal.

RCB invested ₹1 crore on players like Jitesh Sharma and Lungisani Ngidi, and they paid ₹1.5 crores for Romario Shepherd and ₹1.25 crores for Jacob Bethell. Other players like Swapnil Singh and Mohit Rathee were also signed.

As they head into IPL 2025, Virat Kohli will be the most important player for RCB, especially after releasing Du Plessis. Kohli is expected to return as the team’s captain.

Congress Worker Dies in Guwahati Protest: Key Details Inside

Guwahati: There was a big protest in Guwahati on Wednesday where some Congress workers were trying to reach Raj Bhavan. Sadly, one worker named Mridul Islam, who was a lawyer, died during this protest. The police used tear gas to control the crowd, and Mr. Islam was affected by it. Although police say no harsh methods were used, they admitted that there were tear gas canisters nearby.

Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said that police will now look into what happened and check video recordings from the protest. As a result, the government announced that no more protests will be allowed near Raj Bhavan, but there is a special place set aside for peaceful protests.

Many Congress members were angry during the protest about different issues like smart meters, and the government’s handling of the Manipur situation. The protests were part of a nationwide call called “Raj Bhavan Chalo.” Some Congress leaders got into a scuffle with police but were later released.

Guwahati Police Commissioner, Diganta Barah, stated that the police did not fire tear gas but rolled it on the road to create smoke to help disperse the crowd. He insisted that the Congress party didn’t ask for permission for the protest and that the police set up enough barriers to maintain order. After the protest, a check on Mr. Islam’s body showed no visible injuries, and more detailed findings will come from the post-mortem report.

Cricket Legend Ravichandran Ashwin Retires: What’s Next for Him?

Cricket star Ravichandran Ashwin arrived home in Chennai on Thursday after announcing he is retiring from international cricket. His surprise decision came right after the third Test game against Australia, with the series tied at 1-1.

The 38-year-old bowler revealed his feelings, saying, “This is emotional for many, but for me, it’s a big relief.” He shared that the idea of retiring had been on his mind for some time, and he decided to make it official after the fourth day of the Test match.

Ashwin ends his incredible career with a total of 765 international wickets. In Tests, he took 537 wickets, making him India’s second-highest wicket-taker, just behind Anil Kumble. He has also achieved 37 five-wicket hauls, which is an impressive record.

When asked about not leading the Indian team, he confidently said, “I have zero regrets.” Upon returning home, Ashwin received a warm welcome from his parents and friends, which surprised him. “I just wanted some peace at home, but this made my day,” he said.

Ashwin has played a significant role in great events like the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. In his white-ball career, he played 116 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 65 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

He shared that memories from the last two years had faded, leading to his decision to retire. However, Ashwin confirmed he would continue playing club cricket. He plans to play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL and likely the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League next year.

“I still have the passion to play,” he said. “It’s just Ashwin the Indian cricketer who is done, not Ashwin the cricketer.”

Amit Shah Reviews Security in Jammu & Kashmir After Elections

On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met to discuss security in Jammu and Kashmir. This was the first meeting since the assembly elections held in September and October. The meeting included J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, along with top officials from the Army, paramilitary forces, local government, intelligence agencies, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

This was Shah’s first review of security after the National Conference party, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, took power. After the laws changed in 2019, the central government now manages law and order in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, Shah focused on planning for security in 2025. Even though the situation has improved, there have still been some terrorist attacks. Recently, seven people were killed in an attack in central Kashmir on October 20th. Before that, there were attacks on workers from outside the Valley.

Shah’s meeting aimed to address these recent attacks and figure out how to prevent more in the future. Official records show that 142 terrorists were killed in J&K in 2019, while about 45 have been killed this year. In 2019, 50 civilians lost their lives, and this year, by early November, that number stood at 14.

Putin Willing to Negotiate with Trump About Ukraine Conflict

On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin said he was willing to talk about ending the war in Ukraine with Donald Trump. He claimed Russian forces are making progress on the battlefield. Trump, known for his book “The Art of the Deal,” has promised to end the conflict quickly, but he hasn’t shared how he plans to do it.

During a live TV session with Russians, Putin mentioned that he hasn’t spoken to Trump in years but would be open to a meeting. He assured that Russia is not in a weak position but has become stronger since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Putin said, “We are always ready for talks,” adding that Ukrainian fighters will eventually run out of steam. He stressed that both sides must be open to negotiations and compromises.

In a report last month, it was mentioned that Putin was willing to discuss a ceasefire with Trump, but he firmly stated that Russia would not give up any territory and that Ukraine should stop trying to join NATO.

Putin also talked about Russia’s military presence in Syria, saying many leaders there support keeping Russian bases. He plans to discuss the case of missing U.S. reporter Austin Tice, who was captured in Syria in 2012, with Syrian leaders.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has caused a major crisis between Russia and the West. He claimed that Russia controls about 20% of Ukraine and has captured a lot of land recently. He admitted that predicting the future of the conflict is hard but believes Russia is moving closer to its goals.

On the economy, Putin noted that it is overheating and causing high inflation. He also discussed ongoing fights with Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region, saying they would be forced out but didn’t give a timeline.

Putin bragged about a new hypersonic missile called Oreshnik, which Russia tested on a Ukrainian factory. He said he is ready to launch another test against Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, to see if Western defenses can stop it. He urged the other side to prepare for this potential strike.

  • India’s Foreign Secretary to Strengthen Ties with Mauritius in December

India’s Foreign Secretary to Strengthen Ties with Mauritius in December

Vikram Misri, India’s Foreign Secretary, is set to visit Mauritius from December 20 to 22. This visit aims to boost the friendship between India and Mauritius after the recent election of Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam. The Indian government values its relationship with Mauritius as part of its plan for growth and cooperation with African countries.

This trip will be the first high-level meeting since Ramgoolam’s new government took office last month. Both countries share a long history and work together in many areas. The visit is a chance to improve ties even further.

Additionally, Ramgoolam has been negotiating with the UK about the Chagos Islands, which Mauritius wants back. In October, the UK agreed to return the islands but wanted to keep control of Diego Garcia, a strategic military base, for at least 99 years. Ramgoolam recently said that the deal needs to change because it doesn’t offer enough benefits for Mauritius. He is open to reaching a new agreement with the UK.

India has welcomed the UK’s decision to return the Chagos Islands, supporting Mauritius’s claim to the territory. The final agreement will involve legal details that still need to be worked out.
