Huge wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles, and firefighters are working hard to control them. It has been three days since the fires started, and around 2,000 buildings have been damaged. Sadly, about 130,000 people had to leave their homes to stay safe. Strong winds made the fires worse, but they calmed down a bit, giving firefighters a chance to fight back.
One area hit hard is Pacific Palisades, where the flames have spread quickly. Pictures from Maxar Technologies show how much damage has happened. One photo shows a peaceful street in Altadena before the Eaton fire started. After the fire, that same street was filled with smoke and flames.
Throughout Los Angeles, firefighters are trying to save homes from the fire. In some parts, they are spraying water on the flames, while in others, they are trying to control hot spots that could cause more fires. Sadly, for people who returned home after being evacuated, the view was heartbreaking. One couple hugged while looking at their burned house, and some homes looked completely destroyed. In the chaos, at least five people have died, and more than 1,000 buildings are ruined.
Celebrities and many others have had to flee from their smoke-filled neighborhoods, facing the terrifying power of the wildfires.
