Los Angeles, California, is facing a terrible disaster as wildfires burn many neighborhoods. President-elect Donald Trump is blaming Governor Gavin Newsom for the situation. Trump claims that Newsom didn’t agree to a plan that would have sent a lot of water to help fight the fires. Instead, he says Newsom wanted to protect a small fish called a smelt, which he thinks is not important.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Governor Newsom refused to sign the water plan that could have brought millions of gallons of water to help fight the fires. Now, because he cares more about a fish than the people, homes are burning down!” He added that the fire is so bad that firefighters can’t contain it.

In his posts, Trump also criticized Newsom for not helping the people and asked him to resign. He shared his frustration about the current situation and said he is looking forward to becoming President on January 20.

In response, Governor Newsom said Trump shouldn’t be using this tragic situation for political purposes. He pointed out that many people are suffering and losing their homes. “Families have lost everything, and the President-elect just wants to make this a political issue. We are focused on saving lives and fighting these huge fires,” he said.

Governor Newsom has been on the ground assisting firefighters and worked with President Joe Biden, who is helping California during this difficult time.

Sadly, over 1,500 homes and buildings have been destroyed due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, and more than 100,000 people have had to evacuate. So far, five lives have been lost in this tragic event.
