Defending champion Jannik Sinner, 10-time winner Novak Djokovic, and world number 3 Carlos Alcaraz are getting ready for the 2025 Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena. The tournament will start on January 12 in Melbourne, and the match draw will be announced this Thursday.

Djokovic was seen practicing on Tuesday afternoon with his new coach, Andy Murray. This is Andy’s first coaching job since he retired in summer 2024 after the Paris Olympics. Andy has won three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals in singles.

Djokovic is aiming for an amazing 25th Grand Slam title. He is coming off a surprising loss in the quarterfinals against American player Reilly Opelka at the Brisbane International. Last year, Djokovic didn’t win any ATP titles besides the Olympic gold in Paris. He almost got his 25th major at Wimbledon, but he lost to Alcaraz, who won the final in 2023.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz, who got to Melbourne on Monday, is training with French player Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who is ranked 30th in the ATP rankings. Alcaraz hopes to do better than his last Australian Open where he reached the quarterfinals. This is the only Grand Slam title he hasn’t won yet.

Sinner enjoyed a great comeback at the Rod Laver Arena. Last year, he beat Djokovic in the semifinals and won his first major title. In a charity match on Tuesday, Sinner successfully beat Australian Alexei Popyrin with a score of 6-4, 7-6, creating nine break points.
