New Delhi: Exciting news! A brand new platform called Bharatpol is launching on Tuesday. This platform will help police across India work better together when they need to ask for help from other countries in solving crimes. The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, will open it in Delhi.

This technology, created by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), will make it much easier for police to send requests about criminals without using a lot of paper. Instead of sending letters, emails, and faxes, they can now share information instantly and online. The Bharatpol portal will help police from different states and cities to get the information they need quickly from around the world.

Currently, the CBI manages requests for help from police regarding international criminals. In 2023, they handled over 17,000 requests and issued 100 red notices—this is when countries alert each other about wanted criminals, which is the highest number ever in a single year.

With crimes that cross borders like cybercrime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking on the rise, it’s important for police to get help fast. The Bharatpol portal, available on the CBI’s official website, will make it easier for police to work together and share important information.

There are other types of notices too—like yellow notices for missing people, blue notices for asking about a person’s identity, and more. The idea for this quick information-sharing platform was started by CBI director Praveen Sood last year. Police often faced delays because they had to send many back-and-forth letters. Now, with Bharatpol, they can get answers faster and work towards solving crimes more efficiently!
