Rohan Gurbaxani is an actor who started as an assistant director (AD) in Hollywood. He became known for his roles in web series like “Made In Heaven 2” and “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.” Now, he is getting a lot of attention for his role as Ayaan, a talented pianist, in the second season of “Bandish Bandits.”

In a chat with Hindustan Times, Rohan shared how happy he is about the audience’s positive response to Season 2. He said, “It feels amazing when people appreciate your work, especially something you filmed a while ago. When you hear such good feedback, I can’t ask for anything more; I feel really grateful.”

Rohan’s Journey to Learning Piano

Rohan plays a prodigy pianist in “Bandish Bandits Season 2.” He found learning the piano very challenging and prepared for the role in just three weeks. He explained, “It’s tough to become a prodigy pianist from just a character sketch in that short time. I wanted my performance to look real, so I dived deep into learning.”

Every day, Rohan practiced with his piano teacher, Parikshit, for two hours. He started playing with both hands right away, which he said was hard and exhausting. “I went through a lot of challenges, but I’m happy with how it turned out,” he added.

Working with Arjun Rampal

Rohan also had the opportunity to act alongside Arjun Rampal in the series. He recalled meeting Arjun for the first time while working as an AD on the movie “Rock On 2” when he was 19. He reminisced, “It was hot that day, and I was helping with the crowd for a song shoot. Now, acting with him feels surreal.”

When he found out he would share a scene with Arjun, he felt nervous but excited. “He is really cool and has a nice way about him. It was great working with someone so experienced,” Rohan said.

Rohan’s Career Path

Rohan began his career as an assistant director in Hollywood films. After the Covid lockdown, he returned to Mumbai and started looking for acting jobs in Bollywood. When asked which industry he prefers, he smiled and said, “Both have their own charm. As an AD, I did everything, which was fun. But as an actor, I get to showcase what I’ve trained for all these years. I can’t pick just one; both are important to me.”

“Bandish Bandits Season 2” is directed by Anand Tiwari and also features Ritwik, Divya Dutta, Shreya Chaudhry, and others. You can watch this musical drama on Prime Video.
