Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh on Sunday, praising his lasting impact on society. Singh, who received the Padma Vibhushan award, is remembered for his dedication to good governance, the Ram Mandir movement, and his service to the nation.
In a post on X, Adityanath referred to Singh as the “founder of good governance” in Uttar Pradesh. He said, “Kalyan Singh ‘Babuji’ contributed greatly to rebuilding society. He spent every moment serving people and the country. I offer my humble tribute to him on his birth anniversary.”
Adityanath was joined by his deputies, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, who also paid tribute. Maurya described Singh as a symbol of strong values and courage, stating that his motto of “no regrets, no remorse, no sorrow, no grief” would inspire future generations.
Pathak called Singh a “pioneer” of the Ram temple movement and acknowledged his lifelong commitment to serving the nation and Lord Ram. He emphasized that Singh’s life would continue to motivate everyone to contribute to their religion and nation.
Kalyan Singh was born on this day in 1932 in Atrauli, Uttar Pradesh. He was the Chief Minister during a pivotal moment in Indian history when the Babri mosque was demolished in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. A member of the Lodhi community, Singh played a key role in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) rise in Uttar Pradesh during the 1990s.
