Delhi University (DU) is getting bigger and better! Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started three exciting new projects on the DU campus, which will help students learn more effectively. These projects include:
1. Veer Savarkar College in Najafgarh
2. East Campus in Surajmal Vihar
3. West Campus in Dwarka
These projects will cost over ₹600 crore and are aimed at improving educational opportunities and modernizing school facilities. The new East Campus and West Campus will work alongside the existing North and South campuses to make DU more accessible to students throughout the city.
Veer Savarkar College at Najafgarh will be close to the West Campus and will cover 18,816 square meters. It will include 24 classrooms, eight tutorial rooms, and even a canteen! This college will help support many students in their studies.
The East Campus, which is being built on 15.25 acres, will cost about ₹373 crore. It will offer courses like LLB and LLM, along with many other subjects. The East Campus will be equipped with 60 classrooms, six moot courts (practice courtrooms), and even computer labs to give students all the tools they need to succeed.
The West Campus will also be new and is budgeted at ₹107 crore. It will feature 42 classrooms and facilities like a digital library and seminar halls.
PM Modi mentioned that these new projects will create amazing learning environments for students in Delhi. According to DU’s Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh, these new campuses should be ready in about 1.5 to 2 years, giving more students the chance to get a quality education. “We thank the government for helping us with these new projects,” Singh added.
Currently, DU has campuses in the North and South; with the East and West projects, the university will reach all four corners of the city
