Sydney, Australia — As the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, Australia has officially revealed their team lineup for the last match of the series against India. Following a fantastic victory by 184 runs in Melbourne, Australia now leads the series 2-1, which also means India can no longer qualify for the World Test Championship Final next year.
In an exciting twist, Australia has selected Beau Webster, aged 31, to make his Test debut. This is a big surprise since Mitchell Marsh has been dropped from the team. Webster will become the 469th player to represent Australia in Test cricket. He is seen as the team’s sixth batter and has been performing well in recent games, having taken 12 wickets in just three matches and scoring an unbeaten 46 runs against India A.
Although there were worries about Mitchell Starc’s health after the last game, he has been cleared to play in this match. He is feeling better after struggling with rib soreness.
The match will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground starting January 3. Here is the Australian XI: Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Beau Webster, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Scott Boland.
