In a thrilling match during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ayush Mhatre from Mumbai made history by becoming the youngest player to score 150 runs in List A cricket. He achieved this amazing feat at just 17 years and 168 days old, breaking the previous record held by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was 17 years and 291 days when he scored 150 runs.
Mhatre, who started playing for Mumbai this season, scored an incredible 181 runs off just 117 balls. His brilliant innings included 11 sixes and 15 fours, helping Mumbai reach a total of 403 runs in their 50 overs against Nagaland.
Mhatre, a young talent from Virar, Mumbai, has consistently impressed since joining the team. Recently, he played a key role in winning the Irani Cup, bringing a trophy back to Mumbai after 27 years. In his first Ranji Trophy match, he started strong with a 52-run score, and later he hit a fantastic 176 runs with 22 fours and 4 sixes against Maharashtra, leading his team to victory.
Even though he had a few matches without big scores, he bounced back with a brilliant 116 runs against Services and represented India in the U-19 Asia Cup. Mhatre scored fifties in matches against Japan and UAE but didn’t score well in the final against Bangladesh. After missing out on a championship win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he returned to the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a strong 78 against Karnataka.
