Tragedy struck near Jiwan Singh Wala village in Bathinda district when a bus crashed into a drain on Friday, resulting in the deaths of eight people, including a 2-year-old girl. Bathinda Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Ahmad Parray, shared that five people died at Talwandi hospital, while three others passed away at the civil hospital in Bathinda.
As of now, five of the deceased have been identified, but authorities are still working to identify the other three. The bus was reportedly going fast when the driver lost control. Some reports mention that lightning may have struck the bus, causing the driver to lose control and veer into the drain.
The bus was on its way from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda, and locals rushed to help the injured passengers. Rescue teams from the police and district administration quickly arrived to take the injured people to nearby hospitals. Officials also noted that the bad weather might have played a role in this unfortunate accident.
