Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, recently assured actors and filmmakers from Tollywood that his government supports the Telugu film industry. He emphasized that there will be no compromise on law and order.
The meeting was called after the arrest of popular actor Allu Arjun, who stars in the upcoming movie Pushpa 2. The event took place at the Telangana State Police Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Many well-known figures from Tollywood attended, including actor Nagarjuna, Dil Raju (the chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation), and directors like Koratala Siva and Anil Ravipudi.
The meeting aimed to bring peace between the government and the film industry, especially after a tragic incident occurred at the premiere of Pushpa 2 on December 4. A big crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, but chaos broke out when he waved to fans from his car. Unfortunately, this led to a deadly stampede that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her young child.
Following this incident, Revanth Reddy criticized Allu Arjun for the roadshow-like event and emphasized that celebrities need to manage their fans responsibly. Allu Arjun, however, defended himself, stating it wasn’t a planned procession but just a premiere.
On December 13, Hyderabad police arrested Allu Arjun in connection with the incident but released him on bail the next day. The actor also faced questioning about what happened. The situation has caused political debate, with CM Revanth Reddy making statements blaming the actor, while Allu Arjun called this an attack on his character.
