On Christmas Day, Zomato delivery riders across India dressed up as Santa Claus to surprise customers with gifts. But in some places, there were complaints about riders being harassed for celebrating Christmas. One such case happened in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where a Zomato rider was made to take off his Santa costume in a viral video.

In the video, the rider was questioned by someone off-camera. The rider explained that Zomato provided the Santa costumes. The person asked why Zomato doesn’t encourage riders to dress for Hindu festivals instead. When the rider didn’t have an answer, he was asked for his full name. He replied, saying his name was Arjun.

The person insisted, “We are Hindus. What’s the message with the Santa costume?” Then, he told Arjun to take off the costume, saying it was not right to wear it during Hindu festivals. Despite Arjun’s concerns that he could lose his job if he did not comply, he was forced to remove his red Santa jacket and cap. The person who made him do this even complained about how some people celebrate Christmas and Islamic festivals while ignoring Hindu ones.

The video has been viewed millions of times on social media, and many are talking about it. Meanwhile, Zomato is facing criticism for not supporting their workers who were treated poorly for wearing festive costumes.
