Saudi Minister Meets India to Discuss Tensions with Pakistan

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Aljubeir, secretly visited India and met with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. They talked about how to calm down rising tensions between India and Pakistan. This visit comes after India carried out military strikes on nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, targeting terrorist groups.

Jaishankar posted on social media, saying he had a good meeting with Al-Aljubeir and discussed India’s strong stand against terrorism. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, arrived in India for a planned visit during these tense times. He will be having talks with Jaishankar and also meeting President Droupadi Murmu.

India’s military strikes were a response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, where Indian forces targeted places linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist groups. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that India felt it needed to respond because Pakistan had not taken serious action against these terrorist groups on their territory.
