Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, announced on Wednesday that Pakistan will respond after Indian forces attacked nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistani-occupied Kashmir. This action, named ‘Operation Sindoor,’ targeted important bases linked to terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen.
In his speech to the nation, Shehbaz Sharif said, “We will take revenge. We will fight until the end. For your safety, we must stay united. Pakistan has been deeply affected by terrorism.” He made it clear that the Pakistani military is ready to respond at a time and place of their choosing.
Earlier that day, Pakistani leaders said the armed forces are authorized to retaliate against the Indian military strikes. They described these attacks as “unprovoked” and an “illegal act.” After these strikes, the Pakistani government closed its airspace for 48 hours due to safety concerns.
India’s military operation occurred early in the morning, claiming that they caused 26 deaths among the terrorists. After the attacks, a meeting was held with Pakistan’s top security leaders to discuss the situation.
Despite the tension, Pakistan’s Defense Minister mentioned that there is still a chance to calm things down if India also takes steps to reduce the conflict.
